This is the place to hop if want to dance to some good live variety of music. Sen two bands and both were very good. The bartenders are good and quick in getting what you order. The drinks are very good with touristic prices. But worth it. People had food on the tables they brought in from other places Vaso is a bar with a dance floor and bands only. Thru serve no food.

Even though it was a daggone job to get a drink, we probably did not really and truly need anymore. We did have our fair share elsewhere before we got there, but hey when in the Big Easy:)The music was crazy hipe. We enjoyed it immensely and will certainly go back. We enjoyed this part of New Orleans better than the other side that darn near everyone is found in. This was the grown and sexy area they say and when comparing the two they were right.

Vaso is located at 500 Frenchmen right in the heart of the street for live music far surpassing the former glory of Bourbon Street. There are so many bars, clubs and joints to duck into, Vaso has great bands like Mason Neville delivering that special NOLA jazz funk soul sound that emanates from this raw and magical city. Vaso has the feeling of almost being a dive but not quite is a dive. On this night I had already eaten and had a couple drinks so I have no clue about the food served at this establishment. I did grab a cocktail and listened to the band for awhile before continuing my adventure for my eyes, ears, stomach and mind as I strolled along Frenchmen anticipating what welcomes me in the next joint.

So you have to come Frenchmen St. and check out some of the live music. Frenchmen St. is where the locals go to party. It's a street for live music only, no djs. It's pretty cool and lively at nights. They also have small art set ups. It's like a small art district. Local artist of different types (painters, clay sculptors, clothing makers, jewelry makers, etc.) all set up and sell their art. Frenchman St. is a cool place to visit. While walking around trying to find which live music spot we wanted to stop at we stumbled upon Vaso. It's a spacious venue and has some good live jazz music going. The musician and his band were pretty good and great entertainment. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves and had some good laughs and quality time. My husband had a drink and I had a mocktail. We stayed for about an 1-1.5 hrs and then we left. It was simply and a good time. There was no cover charge or at least the night we went it was not. We went on a Friday night. Also, everyone was friendly. The seating is first come first serve. You just grab a seat where you can. It could be next to a person or a group you don't know. However, this wasn't an issue. The night we went everyone was chill, nice and just there to have a good time! Overall, we had a good time enjoyed ourselves!

I don't know how to rate this place. I'm struggling between a 3 and a 4 out of 5. Here's my pros and cons about Vaso:Pros:1. The Band here on Thursday 6/29/17 was AMAZING! It was a blues trio and the music so very good! They kept the large crowd happy and entertained, and attracted more and more people inside the bar as well as stopping by the large window/doorway from the sidewalk. The frontman was quite the showman, singer, and comedian.2. Strong, Cheap Drinks!!!! You can't go wrong with a strong cheap drink in my opinion.3. No Cover! Always a win.Cons:1. Bugs crawling on the bar, and bugs crawling on the floor, and probably other places too. Yuck. We started to sit at the bar but a 4-legged insect scurried across it while getting my drink and I quickly changed my mind on that. We sat closer to the stage and during the show, I looked down and saw another, larger creature (probably the first one's big brother smh) running across the floor close to our feet! I felt gross at that point, but the music was so good I couldn't leave. For a good, low-key, authentic NOLA experience with good music and good drinks, Vaso may be your spot! But I guarantee I will NEVER EVER eat here, because of how freely those uninvited guests (probably more like residents) scurried about the place.

Another great music venue that my husband and I frequented a lot while in NOLA - again we came here for the music (and drinks) so I am not sure about the food situation (if there even is one). Regardless of the time of day when ever we ducked our head into this music venue we were treated to many great local acts many of whom you could tell had been pounding away for years and were there for the music and not just to appeal to the tourists.I could not tell you the bands that we saw while we visited because our motto in NOLA was to duck into a place if the music sounded and "felt right". Sometimes that is the best way to experience a place, in my opinion!

We have been here twice. Mixed experiences. They have a food menu, and the chargrilled oyster were great on our first visit. We sat at the bar the 2nd time, and the bartender was the most apathetic person I have ever encountered in NOLA. It was as though it was an effort to sigh. This is a second- or third-tier club. They will likely not have anyone you have heard of, but they also do not seem to charge a cover. Although you may not have heard of the band playing, you will likely still hear some great music because even the third-tier bands here are amazing. They do not have much seating, and the seating they do have is very uncomfortable. There is a lot of open floor space that could pass for a dance floor - an odd accoutrement in a joint like this. Truth be told, I don't dislike this place, but as Frenchman Street goes, it is only worth a stop if you hear some really good music or every other place is packed.Oh, and stick to real drinks. Their menu stuff sucks.

Such a cool jazz bar on Frenchman St! We went on a Saturday night when Hyperphlyy was playing. Wow they are amazing and so passionate about what they do. The crowd was loving it and the number of viewers kept growing as the hits went on.I think my stars are more for this live band they host than the actual bar...although the bar itself was cool too. No cover, so thats a plus. And the drinks were strong...take that has a pro or con ;)Spacious and open (to stand, not enough seating)...although the bar is all the way in the back and it took a while to get drinks cause they just had 2 bartenders.Such a cool bar with all around good vibes. Def recommend checking it out for an authentic NOLA experience.

We actually stopped in a Vaso a few times. It is a bar with live music at the far end of the French Quarter on Frenchmen Street. They have a kitchen but it was being remodeled so there was no food. They have bands playing all hours of the day, from morning to night. There are not too many bars in the French Quarter where you can hear a band play at 9 AM. The few we heard played the blues. The musicians we heard were good. And, since I only went during daylight hours when there are not too many patrons, I got to meet many of the band members. They were friendly and wanted play what we wanted to hear. They always asked for requests. The bar is well stocked, and the server on staff when we were there was one of the best I've encountered. She really knows her stuff. Vaso is a little off the beaten path, but going there you are close to a few other locations worth visiting. And, it does not have the craziness of Bourbon Street.
