Uptown Costume & Dancewear

Tried on a wig and decided I wanted to buy it. They go in the back and get a new one (which is appreciated), but they brought the wrong wig out. It was the right exterior packaging but the wig inside was different... and I didn't realize until I got home. Just a suggestion to check what they bring out to ensure it's what you want to buy.

I've been lost since my favorite costume shop in the Warehouse District closed a couple years ago. At least until I discovered Uptown Costume. Great selection, fair pricing and outstanding customer service! In addition to just about any costume you can imagine, they have accessories, props, wigs and makeup to fit any budget. All three ladies working today were beyond accommodating while we tried on several different costumes and made our final selections. We'll be back. Definitely worth a trip uptown.

REALLY DISAPPOINTE!!! I am from California and last year in June came to the store and they wouldn't let me in because I didn't have a mask. which I would have gladly put on if they had any available so I didn't get to go in. fast forward to today and I am at a show at the convention center. grabbEd an UBER after my show ended and came to magazine st to go through the vintage shops, walked about 10 blocks to your store on a Thursday arrived at 3 pm 5/4/23 and it was closed up tight NO sign no note, nothing! suppose to be open!!I won't come again! Upset California Costumer!

You're bound to have a costume closet when you move to New Orleans and Uptown Costume and Dancewear will help you build it. This shop is super well organized and is categorized by genre, accessories, and hats. Prices are very fair and you can really up your game.There's a lot of things going on within this shop and you're bound to be able to finish up your costume here. Remember that if you're trying to make your costumes around a major parade or festival then expect it to get crowded.Folks here were pleasant and easy to work with!

No returns, even with receipt and never worn. Only buy what your absolutely sure you need. Or just buy from a place that conducts business like an actual business...

On the hunt for the perfect costume or accessory that is reasonably priced, then this is the place for you. Its a smallish store packed with stuff and clearly shoplifting has been a problem here as the security is at threat level RED but for value this is a good place to check out. The staff here can be less than welcoming so be prepared.

I love this store - the selection is very good and if you can't find what you are looking for, the employees are very friendly and will help you out (especially the owner). Plan on spending time here because there is so much to see and try on. As you know, costumes in New Orleans are year round!

Nice store with a large selection. Clerk at the counter was very helpful and kind. Halloween is coming go check them out.
