Uncle Matt‘s Bar And Patio

Nice and clean bar! Great space to hold events and shows! The owners are cool and welcoming! The drinks are great and good prices. There is also a great comedy show there every First Sunday night!!

its a venue, not a bar. It looks nice, huge inside, fancy lights, a raised stage in the corner, a grand piano sits in the room, high top tables scattered around. The courtyard is really nice with a service window if you need a drink. Their Facebook advertises its a space for weddings and private parties. This is spot on. It is aesthetically generic. No liquor advertising, signage, or wall hangings anywhere inside. It often has events and groups of people partying with excessively loud music. If I have been to The Kamp next door on occasion I have stopped in to check the place out when it doesn't look too crowded. There is zero bar vibe. Not the kind of place you would just stop in for a drink.

Brand new place. Was an old bar that closed during the pandemic and was sold to new owners. Place was gutted and redone. Is now nonsmoking which is nice. There is a really nice patio outback with seating. The inside is pretty flashy with neon colored lights glowing under the bar. Very bougie. Its a huge space and appears cavernous. Grey walls, ceiling, grey bar top. Recessed lighting. Very sterile looking. I get the feeling it is more of a place to have a function and not necessarily a local bar to hang out. The sound system sucks. I am guessing that is because there is not a single thing on the walls (yet?) and the high ceilings offer no acustics. It doesnt help that the music was blaring. It was packed Saturday night with some party. As it got more crowded the noise level increased so the music was turned up simultaneously. People were screaming at each other to talk. I had a sore throat from yelling. Then later as it thinned the music was still loud but manageable but I noticed when a song came on that the bar person liked she would turn it up really loud, then back down when it ended. This went on and off for awhile. So annoying. And the bar manager isnt friendly. She isnt rude so will speak to you but never smiles and is monotone. Lastly they arent cheap. Jack and coke or crown on the rocks is $6! I pay that price when I hit the quarter but this Harahan! It is no longer a local bar to go have drinks with friends. Sadly I dont think I will be back. But if you want to have a work function or engagement party it would be nice.
