I'm so disappointed! We needed food to nurse our hangovers we had, and this food was horrible! 1st off, I wanted oxtails, and they didn't have those. So I got the smothered pork chops, which were paper thin and dry as hell and not smothered! Then my sides were yams, greens, and white rice. Came with Mac n cheese, too. I literally had 3 squares of yams. My guy had 2 squares, YES, we counted!!!!! They gave him a fat bone filled ham hock with no meat or gristle or nothing and scrimped on the can greens they served us. The Mac was orange with no seasoning. The pork chops weren't fried. I assume they baked those they were like eating a plastic paper plate. The best part of the meal was the white rice. I also forgot he had fried cat filets, and he said they were good. Of course, I'm never going back. Smh

5 stars for sure. The service was beyond hospitable. Omg, the food was amazing and plentiful. This was our first time eating here. We were able to get in and sit with no problem. Our food came out pretty fast. Order was exactly on the spot. Extremely large portion sizes. So many flavors. This was truly soul food at its best. The ladies were friendly and inviting. The ambience was family oriented and relaxing. We will most definitely return when we are in NOLA.

If you've been to this place then you'll know that it's the best Southern Soul Food in New Orleans. Located in a quaint and somewhat neglected area east of New Orleans lies this small quaint transformed Pizza Hut building into a country soul food restaurant. They specialize in cooking country well seasoned food food from Fried Chicken, Neck Bones, Ham Hocks, Turkey Necks, Pork Chops, and even a southern delicacy offal called Chitterlings. Which are affectionately known by the locals as Chittlin's. All of which can come on a bed rice and white beans. They suggest eating them with hot sauce just for nice Louisiana spicy kick.

I've been been here a number of times and the food is okay. Guess I'm just waiting for that WOW factor. To me, the food isn't seasoned with a variety of spices like other soul food places I've visited. That said, I still plan to support this Black Owned Business with hopes that they'll improve the flavors. With COVID-19, they are no longer allowing dine-in services, only take out. They do have hand sanitizer on the order table that blocks guests from going into the dining area and face coverings are required for service. We ordered three dinners to go on Father's Day: oxtails, smothered pork chops and I got smothered rabbit. The candied yams on my plate were exceedingly sweet as if someone thought they were making Kool-Aid from the 80's lol. I couldn't eat them at all. The rabbit serving was a huge cube like piece of meat sitting on top of rice and gravy. The pros: Their cornbread is always on point and the serving size is plentiful. The meatloaf is also good and you get three sides with each meal. The service is great, friendly and welcoming. The cons: Lacks that traditional soul food spice flavor and the oxtails have too much fat on them. They do have a steady fan base of customers, which is a good thing and I'm sure that will never change. Again, I plan to continue to support them and try other meal options but I'd love to see their food flavors elevate.

For starters, if I could leave negative stars I would. I have been a fan of this restaurant for ages and it's honesting heartbreaking the way it's depreciated over the year; for starters the staff outright lied to our faces on multiple occasions; we were told they were out of specific dishes that weren't crossed out on the menu just to overhear them give out the meal "they didn't have" to other customers, what we choose to order didn't come as described and as a person fighting high cholesterol I find rude that they chose to pass off smothered chicken as fried chicken bathed in gravy, we were also told upon entry it would be a twenty minute wait to be served only for people to come in after us and be immediately taken care of. And that was just the food and the service on it's own, the environment itself was disgusting, there wasn't any proper air circulation, there were tables left sticky and un-bussed, and I saw more than one bug flying around. Overall for the money spent and the efforts to even get there in the first place, save your money and cook your own soul food at home
