I was today years old when I discovered the glory that is Tower Beauty.I was on the hunt for some gold stockings to wear with my Mardi Gras outfit (it's never too early to start planning). Normally I would just hop onto Amazon and be done with it, but I'm no longer online shopping, because I want to keep local businesses alive- a suggestion on Facebook brought me here. For some reason, I always assumed this was just a hair care store, but I was so wrong. Y'ALL, if you're in the market for inexpensive makeup, leggings, stockings, jewelry or undergarments, this is the place!I found the gold stockings that I was looking for and they were on sale for $2! Boom! Sure, they aren't the highest quality, but so what? They're enough to last me at least one day and that's good enough for me. They also have a wide assortment of fishnets that are good for costumes as well. I didn't buy any makeup, but they have really affordable name brands like Nyx and a big selection of perfumes and body sprays too. This place is a treasure trove of cheap supplies and I will definitely be back.

I never thought I would write a review of a beauty supply store on here ,but with so many recommendations, especially from Yelp themselves, I decided to give them a shot while in the Westbank. This is probably the BIGGEST beauty supply store I've ever seen in my life. There is an entire wall of fabulous and affordable wigs. Further, there is also a great selection of products to get from clothing, to jewelry, and especially hair products. I mostly came to get some lashes (to which they had the most extensive collection of 5D's I've seen in a while), but they also have a great selection of makeup from brands like NYX and a great selection of perfumes and body sprays. They also have lip balms, and other products of the like. This store is basically a gold mine of beauty supplies at really great prices. I will drive to the Westbank for this store!

OMG wigs! An entire wall of fabulous, affordable wigs! This place is like the Fifi Mahoney's of the Wank. Which is exactly what you imagine it to be. They're bigger, less crowded, have less expensive but equally fabulous stuff, and even though you have to cross the river it's totally worth it because you just spent three hours trying on wigs. Oh wait. That was me. Seriously, y'all, I'm SO excited I stumbled into this store. Since my Mardi Gras wig experience this year, I've decided that getting my hair dyed all the time is stupid. And it's too hot to wear hats, so my new plan is to build a collection of wigs. Dead serious. I am too lazy to be bothered with "doing" my hair, and I'm not a fan of getting my hair "did" (because it's expensive and I can't sit still for two entire hours, dammit). The solution? Wigs! Duh. Thank you New Orleans, for that particular bit of insight. My unexpected discovery of this magical place resulted in an approximately $100 investment, and I came home with three new wigs, two sets of fake eyelashes, and a handful of other shiny things, most of them red. That is less than half of what I would've spent to get my hair dyed again, so instead I'm chopping it all off. I'm even tempted to get my head shaved and dye it red or blonde, because that's what I hear the kids are doing these days. Speaking of which, I should also point out how much I *learned* during Wig Fest 2011 at Tower Beauty Supply. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, especially Joie, who spent two hours humoring me as I tried on 55 wigs. She also explained what "weave" is, and I now know that it's kind of like hair extensions and you can either glue them, clip them, or sew (probably where the term "weave" comes from?) into your hair. Want longer hair? Here's your DIY option. Perhaps I'll look into this should the wig thing prove untenable during the summer. Next time you're on the Wank and you're in this particular shopping center, you MUST stop in and try on the wigs. Also, they sell jeggings with real pockets, so that's something worth seeing in person, too. Just sayin'.

I finally went to Tower Beauty. It was very nice. Lots of wigs!! I had already found two that I was going to buy and I still wanted one more but the girl helping me said I had already tried on three and that was the limit!! Really?! Even if you are purchasing several? With that policy the most you could purchase would be three. I would never buy one with out trying it on. The girl helping me was very nice and helpful!! Even tho I wanted to buy more and wasn't allowed to I will still go back.
