The Seahorse Saloon

I'm a native Gentilly gal but hadn't started going into Seahorse until recently...I've been missing out! It's such a vibe in there! Firstly, it's super spacious for a New Orleans bar (and has ample seating). The bartenders are always super, super cool (S/o to Kyra!) and the drinks are sooo affordable! A single well pour is $4...you cannot beat that AND the pours are quite hefty. They also have the kitchen opened some evenings (S/o to Ms. Courtney and her wife, the chef!) and the food is good! I suggest the salmon tacos. And, the pool table is alwyas occupied with players...it's a thing in there, lol. Love the Seahorse...a premiere Gentilly experince!

the bartender was absolutely perfect. she was sooooo nice and the drinks was strong just how i like it.the food tasted great and i like the fact they have a pool table inside. the crowd was nice and not too crowded. i really like this bar.

Local tavern across from the racetrack. High energy, loud, cheap beer, Bloody Mary's and mimosas, great local ambiance!!! A local institution that you have to visit!

We stopped in after the weiner dog races on Saturday. Some tables were full but not nearly as busy I thought it would be on a race day. Actually we were really happy with the atmosphere. Quick friendly service and cheap drinks. I would for sure recommend walking over on race days when you get tired of paying Fairgrounds prices. It has a neighborhood bar vibe, there's a pool table too. They did have a chalkboard that said they serve burgers but we didn't try the food so I can't speak to that.

Been on my list for awhile and after dropping my pet off at Heavens Pets early in the day, I could use a stiff drink. They were the only tavern in the hood open that early so I stopped in for a round. My buddy and I were the only patrons that morning so we got to enjoy the digital jukebox and the bartender gave us all the attention. I like how spacious it was, much bigger inside that I had thought.Thanks for helping me navigate that first morning without my fur baby.

5 stars during jazz fest and my only time there - each day after rolling out of the fairgrounds. Great vibe, excellent service and good drinks!

Cool enough place if you like a neighborhood dive bar vibe. Mango wheat beer on tap tastes great after a day in the sun.

Cool bar across from the fairgrounds.Pool table, food.... didn't have or do either. Kind of dicey, but I like it. Stopped for a couple of pops after the Exotic Races. Bartender was slammed, but did well getting everyone drinks.

A great dive bar a few blocks from my house, just across from the Fair Grounds Race Track, I am happy to be able to enjoy this spot, now that the smoking ban is in effect. We stopped in on a Friday night (my birthday, in fact) around 10pm. There was plenty of room at the bar, a super sweet bartender behind the bar, a great digital jukebox that we happily dominated for a few hours and the amazing drink deal of : a shot of whiskey and a beer for $6!!! HALE YEAH!!Let's just call this My New Favorite Place, O.K.??

been going there for year . went on my birthday neighbor bar and all . 9 drinks and 50$ later I walk away and rode a track bicycle doing it that's a fixed gear for you young one. 9 drinks 9 drinks . I mean after 9 drinks and no food I should have a real great buzz on . nope not really drunk and disappointed. when the bartender if you can call her that told me the tab i about vomited . unreal . 50$ bucks and barley a buzz . on my birthday so wrong . I been going there for about 20 year won't be going back ever . the jokey cub down the street way better.
