This isn't just a museum--it's a boozy time machine that'll make cocktail nerds and history buffs equally giddy.Atmosphere: The self-guided tour is packed with interactive displays that bring cocktail history to life, featuring vintage bottles from the 1800s and a faux bartender experience. The third floor, dedicated to Peychaud and his legendary bitters, is a particular highlight.Service: Check-in staff were super friendly and welcoming, with a smooth experience despite a long gift shop line. Reservations are recommended, but they're flexible with timing.Experience: This deep dive into cocktail culture offers tastings of Sazerac cocktails and rum while exploring everything from liquor origins to Prohibition. The museum is a total win for spirits enthusiasts and history lovers alike.

While not my 1st visit to New Orleans, it was my 1st visit to The Sazerac House & just wanted to share my feedback from that visit (on Friday, 09/27/2024 - 2pm tour). The Sazerac House is a self-guided free museum & distillery located on the corner of Canal St. & Magazine St.. It's free to book a tour (book online or can do a walk-in) and you'll even get 3-4 small samples of alcohol to try throughout the tour (the samples given were a bit to strong for my taste so my hubby helped me out ;). The inside of The Sazerac House is really sleek & modern w/ so many cool photo backdrop opportunities (helpful tip for the aspiring IG models ;)) and the exhibits on the history of New Orleans during prohibition & the many coffeehouses was very interesting! (see pics included w/ this review) I also have to mention that the added "bonus" on this tour is that there are exhibits on the history of spirits...DISTILLED spirits that is :)).Additional Helpful Tidbits:- - -parking info:No private parking lot, nearby street parking and paid parking options available (surrounding paid parking lots & garages can be expensive because of the location (Canal St. & Magazine St.) we parked a few blocks away at a lower priced small parking lot) - - -3 floors w/ elevators - - -gift shop located on the 1st floor sells 'spirits" that all have a connection to the city To sum it up, a tour of The Sazerac House is a great thing to do if you're looking to do something a little different while visiting New Orleans. Hope this info helps! Rebecca

You can sign up for the complimentary tour online. It takes about 90 minutes but is self paced so depends on how long you want to spend there. There is a LOT of reading/pictures to look at. There are also a few paid tours with full sized cocktails. It's not all about Sazerac. They own a variety of other liquor brands and have sections for those as well. There are 3 small samples of cocktails included through our your tour. It was fun but a little overwhelming. There is a lot of awesome stuff in the gift shop but you don't need to do the tour to shop. Overall it's a great place to spend time or learn a little if it's all new to you.

The Sazerac House is such a beautiful building! There is a rich history and I'm still amazed that such a lovely tour is free. During the tour we got 4 tastings the first one being an iconic cocktail which was super strong (really got straight to the point on that tasting)! I never knew this building was here and I've been to New Orleans several times over the years. I recommend anyone reading this to visit!

We received two free passes for The Sazerac House from the Marriott. Very well organized and you receive three tastings during the tour. Great selection of stuff to purchase at the end too.

I can't believe as many times as I've been to NOLA, I didn't know about Sazerac House until now. They offer a FREE self tour, and it includes 4 free tastings along the way! How sweet is that. It probably took us a little less then an hour to get through. Though if you're not interested in the history you could do it in less -- and if you like to read all the things, longer. Lots of interesting facts throughout the multiple floors, and a few "interactive" exhibits. Each floor or corner had a tasting, all with different spirits. We really enjoyed our time here, and the gift shop had great deals!

This is such a beautifully bougie looking place. Free tours and history of alcohol amid prohibition times. I had never heard of sazerac before so it was all new to me. Loved touring their 3 floor establishment which was all wood and alcohol displays. The pharmacist in negotiations all excited looking at their ingredient samples and mixing rooms. You get to try 3 drinks. Though they were very tiny, they packed a punch. I could actually do this self guided tour multiple times.

Best self guided tour ever. And it's free? GTFO! What a great way to spend an hour or so learning about various products and even better, sampling some of the smallest cocktails you'll ever have in your life. Keep in mind the idea isn't to get drunk, but to maybe venture out of your comfort cocktail zone. I think they have a paid cocktail tasting tour/class too, I made a reservation for 12:15p on a Saturday and it was a pretty good time to go. It started getting crowded as the day went on. You basically take the elevator up to the 3rd floor then work your way through a maze of exhibits and move down to the 2nd and 1st floors for more. You'll learn about bitters! And you will crave bitters afterwards! You can smell the various dry ingredients of bitters too. They had some containers that had the various ingredients in their brand of bitters (I don't feel like trying to spell it here). It's also an active distillery, and you can notice the smell as soon as you walk in. I wish they could get THAT smell in a candle! The workers will gladly answer questions about their processes and how it all works. Awesome crew! The gift shop alone is worth stopping in. They might just have something rare if you're lucky and strike out looking for stuff around town. A lot of stuff, you can find at other places too, but it's fun to shop here! Why not leave with a Weller's Hoodie? And if you get the urge to poop, these are probably the nicest bathrooms around! Holy crap (literally). It's also great for number 1 as well! Restrooms on all 3 floors as well, so you can try them all if you had a rough day!I left with a great feeling, I learned a lot about cocktails, and I now have a fondness for a well crafted Sazerac!

We had an amazing time here. The tour was nice and informative. You get several free samples along the way. Plus the tour was free and family friendly. After the tour feel free to buy some booze to go or hang out at the bar. We grabbed several mini bottles to take back home. Next time we will grab a big bottle for the home bar.

Wasn't planning to visit but a local friend said "well worth your time and it's free."You can get your free admission on site but if a busy time - do it online.Well designed and executed "museum" (same folks did the world class WW2 Museum). Much of it is self-toured but there are docents and films.Fascinating story and 3 free smallish cocktails.Well worth an hour of your time and 1 block from the Quarter. A great addition to the City.
