The Metropolitan

Since the remodel, the "Metro" looks great and sounds better than it had in the past. (Tuned extremely bass-heavy) They've taken the unfortunate Tiered-VIP route, complete with the corded-off VIP seating area in the middle of the dance floor.Also, top 100 festival/radio music is all that's played here. "Go get a security guard to get him a water", this is what the bartender had to say to someone attempting to get water for someone literally passed out. Wanna feel what it's like to be a sardine, stank and everything?? Go here! This place is dangerous, Travis Scott vibes all the way. Too packed, and 9/10 times the show isn't even quality. Dillon Francis sucked, no seven lions, and tables and chairs EVERYWHERE for people to trip on. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Also prices are outrageous. Lame venue that doesn't give a rats behind about their customers.

It is a beautiful venue, poorly ran consistently. In service from front door to bar to bottle service. Somehow they never change over a decade of consistency that's what they have.. waste of money and time every-time every event.

Every time I buy a ticket to see a performer they don't come on until 2am. I am very disappointed every time. This will be the last time I come.Place gets way too overcrowded, you can barely walk anywhere. Has great potential, but needs to step it up on the amount of space and the main show starting at least at midnight.

Pretty cool venue looks great and there are many reatrooms. Bars are pretty big and bartenders are friendly.

This venue literally sucks. I didn't even get to see the main act because it was so overcrowded..... like what did I spend $40 for? Outside? People warned me about this place but I wasted my money anyway haha. Never again. Could have had an amazing night at Republic for much less than a poopoo night here.

Nice venue 3 stories and all lay different music but overly crowded and a bunch of old people lol maybe we just went on the wrong night .

So on a regular night here, this is not my scene or my crowd, but I have to give it to them: it's a great space and all the staff were really nice last night. If you've never been, it also goes by the name of Generations Hall. I think the Metro is the club while Generations Hall is the space, but the party was thrown by "Metropolitan" on the flyer, so we'll roll with that. Finkle is Einhorn. Einhorn is Finkle. The crowd tends to be a more presumably posh group and they don't really get there till 11 in high heels and gel'd hair, and they're looking at everyone while sipping 'tinis (I'm exaggerating a little for effect on the 'tinis). Some of them are cordoned off in little VIP sections that remind me of roping off cattle in little pens. NOTHING wrong with gel or heels...they usually all look really great and clean as opposed to some of the dirty bums in the dives I love. Just not really my scene. But last night, was a pretty great time.We arrived around 7pm for the Crown Royal "Bag The Birds" viewing party there. I got a black and gold Crown Royal tshirt that isn't an XXXXL or a baby tee made for a Barbie Doll...I think it's gonna be my new favorite tee. So The Metro consists of multiple rooms and levels. This is probably why their clientele is so fit, all those stairs. The first room has a giant bar in the middle and the dance floor to the right of it, bathrooms on the other side of the bar. There was a buffet of finger sandwiches, mediocre jambalaya, bouncy meatballs as my friend referred to them as, and pretty good wings as well as a cheese tray, with three types: cheddar, pepper jack, and gross (not sure what flavor the gross was, I just did NOT like it and I kept getting it confused with the pepper jack). This buffet was complimentary and I greatly appreciated it, since the drinks they made were delightfully strong. In the middle room, where there is also a raised bar that you can watch down on people from had three corn hole games set up where our Stomper krewe (who were performing that night) and the gelled hair guys could compete to see who could get the corn bags in the hole the most. I played a decent game. In the very, very back though....was the piece de resistance. A jump jump house with four inflated pedestals and in the center...an inflated wrecking ball that you pushed at your opponents to knock them off of their inflated pedestals (the metaphorical comparison of knocking a Stomper off his inflated pedestal is hilarious to me). But watch out...those boys can throw a mean wrecking ball. This inflated jump jump of awesomeness was enough for me to score the party itself as a 5 star. For Metro's staff to put up with me and my reversion to an 8 year old was remarkable as well. It's a great, fun space and you can spread out quite a bit. The staff was pretty awesome and they had multiple bars open so it was never hard to get a drink. Oh yeah, and the game...TVs EVERYWHERE and no one can block them 'cause they're all pretty high up. I would say if an event is being hosted here, don't fear the usual crowd. They won't get there till 11.

I have been going to the welcoming party given on the Thursday the week of Essence Festival and the 4th of July for years; I never paid attention to the cost of drinks mainly because I'm there to enjoy my time with friends. Last year during the same time I purchased a drink from one bars in the club which was normal pricing but later when I purchased the same drink from another bar in the club the price was 10$ more! This year, last night!, I purchased a double shot of Ciroc with orange juice for 30$!... you can purchase a 750ML bottle for 30$ if not less. The problem is that I use cash; I ask how much, they give me a price, I give them cash, they give the change without a receipt. I'm done with that place.

Came here for Essence Fest and never again. First, I paid for bottle service. As soon as I got there I showed the person at the entrance my QR code. We're sat in our section and told that a bottle girl would be with us shortly. We waited for like 20 minutes and no one showed up. Then, the same person that checked us in out front tells us that if we're not getting bottle service we have to leave the section. What?! So u show my code again and ask her to send a waitress over. In the meantime, someone is sat in the section next to us. I look over and a waitress comes right over to them. I flag her down and she tells me to hold on. Now we've probably been waiting over 30 minutes. Maybe another 15 minutes later she comes back over to the other table but still doesn't stop at ours. So I go grab her and tell her we've been waiting for 45 minutes with no service. So she finally comes over to take our order. And then they mistakenly bring out the wrong bottles. Then when we finally get our bottles. She just leaves them on the table for us to open and pour ourselves. But she opened and poured bottles for the other table. Lucky for her gratuity is automatically added or she wouldn't have received a tip. Next year I'll definitely be going to another club.
