Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Saw 18 gators, numerous great blue herons and egrets. Walked ON the bottom of the swamp. We will be back!

I had no idea what to expect on this tour, but knew that I wanted a more authentic experience than feeding marshmallows and hot dogs to alligators. This tour did not disappoint. In fact, it was one of the best things we did on this trip. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife in the swamp. We saw alligators, at least 3 kinds of herons, a raccoon, eagle, owl, hawks, buzzards, frogs, snakes and spiders - all in their natural habitats behaving the way wild animals are supposed to behave. We learned so much about the animals and plants that live here and the swamp itself. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. I would definitely come back and do it again because I know we would see different things and I would learn more about this beautiful place.

This family-run business is exceptional. From their responsiveness to their expertise, this swamp tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. Al, our knowledgeable and engaging guide, was a delight. The entire family is committed to excellence as well as are true Cajuns from the area. Al spotted all sorts of wildlife, so we saw nearly a dozen types of birds, alligators and even an owl who was on a branch hunting. We watched the owl for nearly 10 minutes from a mere 20 feet away. It was captivating! Al knew what to look for, he shared so much information about ecology, trees and the habitat. It was the best choice and we highly recommend this company as your choice for a swamp tour!

My partner and I had an incredible time seeing and learning about the wildlife in the Atchafalaya Basin. We knew we would be traveling through the area and wanted to book a swamp tour but didn't feel good about most of the other tours we found online. Then we discovered Last Wilderness! We loved that the tours are not only operated as a family business, but also by people who clearly care about the wildlife and conservation of such a beautiful ecosystem. Al is very knowledgeable and answered our many plant and animal questions during the tour. Silvia was also so helpful and responded in a timely manner regarding booking and questions. If we're ever even remotely close to the area again we would love to take the tour again, maybe even a night tour next time!

Absolutely loved this. Al was a knowledgeable, informative, and chill guide. He clearly loves the swamp and it is contagious. My family had never been to a swamp before. It was beautiful. We have a new respect for those that love and protect this amazing natural habitat. It is a little out of the way, but worth the drive. Please support this business as they are trying to inform the public and protect these important ecosystem. By the way, Al has perfect alligator vision. What we thought were stumps or logs proved to be alligators. Very cool to see alligators in a non-commercial or farming environment. As an aside Al looks like Ricky Rubio!

We had a tour with Al on 11/8/24 and he was knowledgeable and passionate. We enjoyed learning everything he had to share. It was a spur of the moment decision to book this tour and we're glad we did! It was an intimate tour, personable and the 2 hours flew by. We saw everything and more at the atchafalaya basin and will happily recommend this tour to everyone visiting Baton Rouge (from boston!!!).

Great tour with lots of interesting information about wildlife and cypress trees. We went on a really cold morning in December and were glad we had worn appropriate clothing because when that boat got moving fast it was freezing. (Unless you are that guy from Kansas that was wearing only a t-shirt...a tip of my hat to you, sir)There's a good chance you will get off the boat and walk around a little in a secluded cypress forest so wear appropriate footwear as the ground is a bit swampy and mushy. I wore duck boots and they were perfect. It was nice to have a guide that was so knowledgeable and is so clearly respectful of the local land, water, and animals.I'd like to go back and do this during warmer months as I'm sure there would be more alligators and other wildlife to see.

Fantastic tour: thoughtful, educated, fun, friendly. We could feel the guide knows his territory, the history of the swamps, the ecology of it and challenges, but he's also fun, attentive, willing to share. It was really fantastic and worth a lot more than more traditional tours. Exactly what we were hoping for. And I agree the cypresses are a national treasure that needs protection,
