This is recently under new management and it's currently going through a rough patch. It was a very difficult stay. I don't want to put any details (there were many issues). I just hope they will straighten up things quickly so people can stay comfortably. I don't know how long that might take, so if someone is booking this property now, you are taking a risk just so you know.I didn't give one star because the staff at the front desk was very helpful and she was as frustrated as we were because of the new system being in place.

I stood at this hotel for a stay to enjoy Nola for their dynamic culture and delicious treats. Despite the things I was seeing upon this app, I went out of my way to disregard the poor reviews and boy was that a mistake. When I arrived I was greeted to a great staff that took care of me and my lady and actually moved us up a class into a suite which was very nice until I started running into the very problems that former customers ran into. The room was a blast from the past with a poor wifi connection to go along with it. Just like another reviewer said, the drainage in the shower was very poor so Ofcourse I called about the issue to no further action taken. Even after that, my frustration was taken further after my room was not visited once by the cleaning lady! Another thing to note was the amount of leaks that covered the building which felt abnormal and left a very bad smell in the hallways and elevator which was unbearable. And to top it all off I was CHARGED 3 TIMES for my stay. Absolutely unacceptable and despite being moved to a suite, it still deserves a 1 star review. Not worth the troublesome experience!

After doing some research online, I selected this hotel because of its proximity to everything we wanted to see/do during our quick trip to New Orleans. The hotel was within walking distance of some great restaurants and shops in the CBD (central business district), the superdome, and the French Quarter. This was important to us because we were without a car for the duration of our trip and didn't want to rely solely on public transportation or ride shares. There were also a few federal buildings nearby as well as a small public park that were well lit and had cameras so it felt like a relatively safe area to stay. This historic hotel has a turn of the century charm to it, with many original details still in tact. The rooms were spacious and had been updated recently, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is in the process of switching over to a Wyndham property, so I would imagine there will continue to be more updates to it in the near future. The lobby, front desk, and elevators were all much smaller than a typical hotel, but had a certain charm to them. Stop #8 of the "hop on hop off" double decker sightseeing bus was right in front of the Hancock Whitney building one block away, which took us to the Garden District, the WW2 museum, and several points of interest in the French Quarter like Jackson Square, Louis Armstrong Park, and New Orleans cemetery #1 - which proved to be an easy way for us to get around the city and explore.Pro tip: there's a button at the check in desk that calls a cab for you, it was a flat rate of $36 to get from the hotel to the airport, which was almost $20 cheaper than using a Lyft or Uber.

TLDR: bedbugs and extremely poor management. Don't recommend.I stayed at The Lafayette on August 31st. I booked directly on their website after a friend suggested staying there, I was excited to try it out. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and pleasant, and the valet drivers out front for the restaurant were as well. The room was fine, seemed clean and the location is nice as well. However, the walls are thin; the neighbors next to me were going through a very messy breakup and I heard it all. An additional note: the streetcar line is right out front and can be noisy depending on the location of your room, but I had earplugs so it was fine. However, I woke up at 6am feeling something crawling on me. I absolutely hate roaches, and I promptly freaked out assuming in the dark that's what it was, but I was wrong. It was a small bug that I'd never seen before, but was 99% sure I knew what it was: a bedbug. I grabbed my earplug case and scooped it inside and snapped it shut. Then I googled bedbugs and yep, that's what it was. Then I did what I SHOULD have done upon entering the room: check for bedbugs. I found 2 more easily just underneath the top sheet that was acting as a fitted sheet. I scooped one of the smaller ones into the same earplug case and promptly packed my stuff and went to the front desk. The shifts had changed and the lady at the front desk was not the same as from when I checked in. I said, "Hi, I was in room #xxx and I woke up with a bedbug crawling on my back. I'd like to speak to the manager to receive a refund please", placing the clear earplug container on the desk. She said, "Oh wow, we don't have bedbugs! We've never had bedbugs!" *The building has been there since 1916, I'm pretty sure at some point in the hotel's history there's been a bedbug.* She then asked, "Do you just carry this little container around with you?!" to which I said, "no, this was holding my earplugs, but you can have it for proof." She came across as implying that I brought in a container of bedbugs to try to get a free hotel stay?! I was pretty flabbergasted. She proceeded to tell me the manager's name (Bobby) and said he would not be in until 10am and she'd have him call me. I asked for trash bags to put my bags in and cover my car seat with and she asked me to put the tiny earplug case into a trash bag because she didn't want to touch it. I left and expected to hear from the manager by 11. I didn't hear from him so I instead called him. He told me he knew about the situation but that they were following their procedure of waiting on Servpro to come out and check the room first. *So apparently there IS a procedure in place for these -nonexistent bedbugs- that the hotel has never had.* He said they were coming within the hour and he'd call me back. He didn't. I had to call back again later and he said they had only found 2 big ones and 3 small ones, (unsure if that included the 2 I caught for them?), so that isn't an infestation or anything and that one of the past guests or 2 had brought them in. (Anything with a SINGLE bedbug is an infestation in a hotel room?!) And that was it. There was no "I'm sorry for your experience", no offer to clean my things, no offer of a refund, he didn't say anything. He was just quiet like he expected me to say ok and hang up. So I said, "can I get a refund, please?" He replied with, "well, how long was your stay?" Me: "1 night". Bobby, "uh, sure, we can do that." That was September 1st. It's now September 20th and I still haven't been refunded. That's ample time. I've called back following up multiple times. My husband has called as well. Nothing. No refund. The management is not concerned with their guest's experience, so, in short, just don't stay here.

Nice old historic hotel.Small rooms that are well appointed.Staff seemed somewhat indifferent. They were hosting several parties that seemed to be their top priority, not the hotel guests. But the parking situation was a fiasco. some people received valet parking, some got complimentary parking in the lot across the street, and some were directed to a parking lot several blocks away.those who parked several blocks away had their cars booted by the police and broken into. Of course the hotel paid for the booting fee, but the tremendous inconvenience on a busy work day far exceeded any monetary loss.

It's a nice hotel, great view , beautiful, and the cleaning staff are friendly. Only two downsides were the carpet in the rooms were sticky and rooms are not cleaned as regularly as we would've liked. Overall not bad it is a 20 minute walk from bourbon street so fairly close.

Do not pay this hotel up front. I reserved a room for Dec. 19-21 2024 in January and paid in full. I cancelled in September, 3 months before the cut off date to cancel. They refuse to refund my money.I filed a complaint with the BBB but they wouldn't even respond to them. They claim that they are no longer The Lafayette by Luxuban but even now if you go on their website it says The Lafayette by Luxuban. My cancellation confirmation says The Lafayette by Luxuban. They won't refund my money.Beware

This hotel could be amazing! It has beauty in and out. When we arrives Mack at the door was so friendly...he showed us to the front desk. The person was not there, and did show up until 15 minutes later. She didn't even say, "sorry for the wait, welcome to the hotel." Which you want to hear! Nope, we got, "reservation," "I.d." Gave us our room number and card, and that was that. Sorry we got in the way of your cigarette break!! The room was ok! There wasn't really a lot of hot water, but warm is just what you want when you are dripping of sweat. They did come and change sheets and towels everyday, which was nice. There are many options when it comes to hotels there, and when we go back, we will be getting a different hotel.I do have to say that the guys outside are amazing, and the staff that were on after this one lady were great as well.

Canceled reservations within time to get a refund. I paid over $600 for New Years hotel and receive email I would get full refund. It has been 5 months of trying to get money by calling, email etc. I eventually got a response and they said I would get a refund shortly that has been 2 months ago. Now no response. I have learned my lesson DON"T TRUST WYNDHAM hotels. Especially this one that seems to have no one able to answer the phone.
