Nestled in a shopping center right off of Siegen Lane is the Jambalaya Shoppe, a small, informal, cajun eatery. I've been here before a couple of times before and I find myself coming back when I want an inexpensive hearty lunch. Clean, unassuming and with a takeout and catering menu, the JS is a goto place for decent jambalaya. I had the jambalaya dinner for $9.99 and my lunchmate had the pasta dinner. Plenty of food. Could barely finish it. The jambalaya had plenty of chicken and sausage, was nice and crumbly (not too wet and not too dry) and well seasoned. The pasta was good too. We both had sides of the spicy potato salad (seasoned with crawfish boil) and the red beans. Both sides were very good. We usually bring a board game to play after lunch since the lunch crowd on the weekend is pretty sparse and there's plenty of tables Highly recommend for a good quick plate of jambalaya.

Where to start with this review. It was such a mixed bag. The place was emasculate. One of the cleanest dining establishments I've eaten in. The decor was cute, complete with a faux cabin. The employees were nice. The gumbo was really good. A light rouex, lots of chicken and full of flavor. The jambalaya was mixed. It was well cooked, nice dark rouex, lots of pork and sausage, but it was lacking flavor. I added lots of hot sauce. The salad was seved dry, with no dressing. The Boudin nuggets were aweful. Overcooked and served with a packet of cheap restaurant BBQ sauce. The crawfish pies were Barbie size, dry and lacked flavor as well. All I tasted was the crust. The white beans were well cooked, but were also lacking any flavor. I'd go back for the gumbo and would give the jambalaya another try.

Jambalaya Shoppe is always on my list of places to visit when I'm in town. I've grown to love their flavor profiles of both the Jambalaya and Gumbo. I personally think they have an amazing and flavorful Gumbo that is unique with a light roux and never any tomatoes. I usually go with the Shoppe Combo number 1 to get a taste of everything. It includes 1 side, an ample portion of Jambalaya, a cup of Gumbo, and crawfish pies. My favorite sides are normally the potato salad, corn, or green beans. Not personally a fan of the flavor of the beans. They also have a daily special on rotation that are usually just as good if you want to mix it up. And there is always the option of subbing your white rice for jambalaya in your gumbo. Sometimes they have a few bad days with over seasoning, but I would say more times than not they get it right. So if you are ever in the area, stop on By with an empty stomach and open yourself to the love of the Shoppe!

I asked about the seafood gumbo and the response was "how much I wanted" I said a bowel he said "okay I think I have that much left" I should have ordered something else seating there eating my warm bowel I just wondered the whole time how much they made initially and is this really what was left over... the menu says made from scratch but I really not sure this is true. The shrimp where very small I searched for an oyster or anything else that made this seafood gumbo but never found any. So the experience was less than okay and the only reason I rated it four was maybe they focus is jumbolaya since that was in the name. Pass on the seafood gumbo..

In my search for places to eat near my office, this location located on Perkins Road east of Siegen has been discovered. It's located in a small strip mall---the strip mall is not in great shape---parking is limited and tight--and ingress and egress is perhaps challenging at times. Once you enter the establishment, it's a different more positive environment---the 3 times I have been here there are no more than 4 tables being used, usually 1-2, so there's plenty of room. It's quiet in part due to the low number of dine in customers. Clean however. As for food, there are daily specials including pork roast, and I believe étouffée on Fridays/--- daily specials are usually under $10. The regular menu is simple and you guessed it---most likely jambalaya----but not just jambalaya but Also pastalaya. These orders usually come with 2 sides plus bread and gumbo, all for less than $10. I have not tried the pastalaya. The jambalaya is tasty and moist---the chicken and sausage re not dry. The gumbo is very tasty. Recommend you try this place.

Good food, nice folks. I dumped a major deal on them last second and they smiled and offered help. Top tip: get the gumbalaya, gumbo over jambalaya.

Really not a fan..they were out of gumbo when we ordered.Small portion, we ended up getting the jambalaya and boudin and both are not very good. The crawfish pies are more like little fried crawfish dumplings which tasted ok but a bit greasy.
