Loved walking through this store during our trip here. It's perfect to start with and then walk down Magazine St. I didn't expect to buy anything but came out with a mm adorable mini art print from their fun quarter machine and a palm leaf ceramic ring dish. Really love the vibe in here!

Pandemic review:I was familiar with many of the products in this small shop from before there was a bricks & mortar store. I had purchased various of their wares at pop-ups or other shops over the last few years. But I learned from a friend that they had an actual shop (and while it is not open at the moment), they are selling from their website. Ordering was super easy and they have a nice variety of items. I like that you can shop by cause as well as by type. You can't actually smell the candles from the website, but the descriptions are really good!I also like that if you finish a candle, you can return the empty clean glass to the store for a small credit.

Goods That Matter is brick & mortar store and fully open & here to stay.Love this shop ~ all in the name of positive & enjoying purchasing a quality product that helps others ~ huge causes ~ not only in Louisiana but overseas like the recent devasting earthquakes in Turkey/Syria and Morocco ~ All their products are made from biodegrable & upcycle materials as with their candles in sturdy glass jar one would certainly wish to keep for other uses. I purchased their Jasmine Candle & already used it when we had a power outage ~ beautiful scent of jasmine filled the house & reminded me to remember those of Türkiye/Syria whom still are struggling, some live in tents, but not everyone & some still living in leftover ruins of their earthquake ravaged countries ~ Goods That Matter does a great job of packing their items for shipping & mine arrived im perfect condition. Highly suggest for a modest amount the 'purchase' of the Bald Cypress Tree for replanting the sadly deteriorated Lousiana Coastline by extreme Bald Cypress lumber harvesting for sale throughout the past couple hundred years. The Bald Cypress Tree is was like the arms holding the swampland together. The coastline retreated leaving ravaging deterioration of towns cities homes to countless swamp life animals when hurricanes hit over the last century and a half.Replanting the Bayou. Tha Louisiana Coastline was much much more expansive / wider. After Katrina, ancient grove of Bald Cypress was revealed hundreds of feet underwater. Trees are millions of years old!!!Entire Southern Seaboard once started much further north around states as Arkansas Georgia & The Bald Cypress with its ability to grow in saltwater made it possible as millenia went by for build up of 'land' from various decompositions of various geological formations inputing a new 'floor' that would become 'solid' land in many places but the lacey netwotk of the Bayous would still skirt the Southern coastlines. Bald Cypress needs to be restored to build the Louisiana coastline. A very thougtful store ~ Indeed Goods That Matter

This place is a marketplace for local vendors. I have gotten a few things here and they have all been great quality. It's nice to see a one stop shop for local artists in New Orleans. It always feels welcoming and the people working are ready to help. I recommend this place for getting gifts for any occasion. They usually have nice candles, illustrated post cards and greeting cards, tshirts, tea towels, etc. Many of the products are New Orleans focused which is always a winner!

A little blue sign caught my eye while driving home on Magazine the other day advertising locally-made, ethical gifts. With the holidays approaching, I made a mental note to stop by!Off the beaten path of Magazine St., The Good Shop is a calm, serene respite. It's a marketplace for various local vendors so not all of the items are "on brand" or cohesive. However, they are grouped together so that the organization of the store doesn't seem random. In fact, the shop is comprised of 3 rooms (shot gun style). The first room is more home goods: Think dish towels, soaps, cups and plates, candles, greeting cards, etc. There are a few clothing items as well. The second room is definitely a manly/motorcyle/rock n' roll music vibe, with clothes and books and such for the man in your life. The third room had mostly plants and plant accessories!I ended up leaving with some "restoration bar soaps" that are locally made in NOLA (duh) for $15 each; the proceeds benefit wetland restoration and oil spill cleanup. The price may seem a bit steep but I am happy to contribute to a good cause and I hope my gift recipients do too. This shop is worth a stop if you are looking to purchase something you can feel good about, whether it's NOLA-themed or not!
