The Encore Shop

This is my new favorite store. The selection was huge and the prices were so great. I always find something cute at Encore. Plus it supports the symphony! Love being able to support the arts while shopping!

Had a mini-shopping-palooza today and hit a few of the clothing consignment shops (Prima Donna, Swap, Encore, and On the Other Hand) uptown in search of a formal gown that would fit my short, curvy self. Encore Shop is in the University Section and as I've said before benefits the Symphony. Much of their stock skews a bit older, so if I had been looking for a mother of the bride dress, I would have been very happy with the gown selection. That said you never know what you will find in there and I was very tempted by a vintage Coach bag that was priced well.

On a 4 day getaway in NOLA my wife was blown away by this place. Price, selection, staff all incredible. 12 dresses in the fitting room, patiently waiting

I still enjoy shopping at Encore, even if the prices are wee bit steep for resale items are not luxury labels. The back room can hold great deals, but consistency is the name of the game to find a real bargain. There's no website, but if you stop by, you can add your email to their list to get notifications of upcoming markdowns and clearance sales.

I waited a while before I posted this but a week did not dissolve my customer dissatisfaction. The saleswoman could NOT have been ruder to me. I've used Encore before and they were so friendly and their clothing items were awesome. However, when I went to consign clothes, the salesperson was straight from a SNL skit for obnoxious salesladies.. She was rude and haughty and embarrassed me in front of everyone in the store. The time before when I consigned clothes, I never made an appt. however, apparently now, one needs one. I'm good with that, but she could have said that in a gentle kind fashion. I went out of my way to get to Encore, it was late in the afternoon, and it was hot and I did not appreciate her attitude. w
