The Chimes East

I often frequent Chimes when I visit Baton Rouge from Los Angeles. The food is absolutely delicious. I had several dishes and all of it is good. The shrimp and grits, crawfish Etouffe & fried catfish all are just wonderful. The atmosphere has a great vibe. A nice place for family gatherings and it's children friendly. The service was good, not impeccable, but no complaints. Overall it's a nice place to go if you just want to get out and go chill & eat with family or friends. It's one of my go to spots when I am in Baton Rouge. Oh, we have also ordered take out and the food was packed well and warm when it arrived. This is a late review so I don't have any pictures.

We were in Baton Rouge for a day, and when we asked some locals where we needed to eat this is where everyone said we needed to be.We wanted to experience the food the people there said was good. Cajun, Baton Rouge - something we couldn't have back home in Texas. Chimes it was.The menu is vast. There are so many options to choose from and the specialities were fried, grilled or blackened. The lady at the counter suggested fried. We paid and our food was hot and out by about 20 minutes.Fried gator: I have never had alligator before. The consistency of the meat was in between chicken and shrimp... had a chewy texture. Almost sweet, but not too overwhelming in any way. It really took on the flavor of the fried batter. It was good.Fried shrimp: jumbo shrimp succulent and crispy. Oh my gosh. Just delicious. Now the hush puppies were a little dark for my liking, a bit heavy... but to each his own.Shrimp BBQ Poboy: my husband ordered this and it was gone before I could check for it. He liked it, I can't say what it tasted like.We would sure be back any time we are in Baton Rouge.

This was a decent restaurant with good food. Our service was a little slow and we had multiple people helping us which made things a little confusing and no one seemed to know what the other was doing. We started with some appetizers which were pretty good. The meals came with salads, which was just basic packaged salad mix with a lot of ranch on it. I had the bacon-wrapped BBQ shrimp and jambalaya which was pretty good. It's a lot of food, couldn't finish all of it. Overall a decent restaurant with OK service.

It's not my first time at chimes but I had a great time here! I went with a friend and we had a great time here. The food was amazing! We sat at the bar and we had a great time! The service was amazing very friendly barmaids and bartenders. Thr ambiance was nice. They had some soft but good oldies playing in the back with made my time even more enjoyable. For lunch I had the fried shrimp platter with fries it was very good. The shrimp were huge and butterflied nicely! My friend had the blackened salmon on medium temperature and it was very good. The steamed vegetables were cooked to perfection! I would give this place a 10/10.

I placed a to-go order today (02.19.25) I ordered the grilled chicken with a side of red beans and rice. Ya'll . . my meal was soo good! 10/10! I have dined with Chimes for many years and sometimes it's hit or miss. But today was definitely a HIT! The chicken was grilled to perfection and the red beans tasted like they had been simmering all day. This review is to commend the chef and kitchen personnel. They are often overlooked. Im hoping management will tell them what a great job they're doing.

Always a good choice for a good meal. Had a taste for a good sandwich and iced tea. And it was getting a bit late on a weekday....guess who was open!!!! Our fave go-to spot. Where you are always greeted with a smile at the door and you wanna come back for more... the sautéed crab fingers are just so good!!!!! The place is moderately loud but it was loud with the sounds of laughter and giggling kids.

Saturday nights are packed because Chimes are good at providing A1 service, but they check you in quickly to get you in the queue. Our table was ready in 30 minutes, and our server immediately took our the order. The ambiance is always live, with multiple TVs, great music in the background, the smell of chargrilled oysters, and the variety of seating that makes everyone feel welcome. We sat outside in the patio area, but the heaters didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, as always, and they never missed a beat. I also love how the staff look out for each other; they work hand in hand.

I placed a pick up order online so cannot speak for the service or ambiance inside, although the patio looked quite nice. Ordering and pick up was super easy but thats where the positives end. I requested hush puppies but received a roll instead, which tasted a little stale - it was quite chewy. The amount of butter (and I appreciate butter) on the shrimp and grits was absurd so I could not finish the dish. The flavor of the grits was good that I did have, but the shrimp was extremely oily. I also ordered the Oreo cheesecake and it was basically a normal cheesecake with a crumbled Oreo on top. It tasted fine but I would not order again. The red beans and rice was decent and is the only thing I would try again.

Be careful if you order delivery,food isn't sealed and my UberEats order had been opened and half my entree was missing. The driver ate my food! So disgusting

Came to the bar around 12:45 yesterday with a friend of mine to get a few drinks & food because I've always had really good experiences here. Sat for about 15 minutes & no one came to me. I understand it was a busy Saturday so I gave them grace & patiently waited. That was until a white patron sat next to me 10 minutes later & the bartenders ran to take his order upon him sitting. The male bartender with the ponytail came to take our order & once he did we had to keep looking for him to get us refills on drinks & condiments for food. The female bartender was just rude . I asked for avocado on my shrimp poboy & never received it. I couldn't even tell her about it after she delivered my food because she never asked if I needed anything & only came back when it was time to collect payment . I finally get the opportunity to tell her about the avocado & she laughs. Very unprofessional! 0/10 with sitting at the bar !! Also, please make sure in the future you treat all patrons the same regardless of color !!!
