What's a better way to conclude our trip to New Orleans, than with some Oysters?! We went to The Blue Crab, which is located right on Lake Pontchartrain. We were seated outside, overlooking the lake, when a very strong gust of wind knocked over our waters. You know those Southern winds are no joke! So we quickly moved inside. Most of the people in our party are big into crabs. So they got quite a serving of them, they are messy, splashy, but not for me. It was very satisfying seeing how they loved slurping on all the crab legs and juices. We also got a serving of the Chargrilled Oysters! These are fresh oysters that have been grilled, spritzed with lemon and topped with cheese. I have never before had oysters that have been served this way, this was so delectable and delicious! The Seafood Gumbo is rich and hearty. It was filled with pieces of shrimp and crab. I got the Gulf Salad with blackened shrimp. This salad was massive. Everything was fresh and all the pieces were substantial. However, the shrimp was far too salty for me.Overall we had a complete feast at The Blue Crab. Their prices are very fair and the service was excellent!

Had a family outing with kiddos and grandparents at The Blue Crab for a weekend lunch and we all left full, satisfied with our choices and happy with our service. Air-conditioning was keeping things perfectly cool in the hot summer heat and the elevated views of Lake Pontchartrain were wonderful (note there is an elevator). We enjoyed chargrilled oysters, crabmeat au gratin, a fried shrimp poboy with a side of must order hand-dipped onion rings, the west end cobb salad, crab cake sandwich with fries and a fried catfish poboy with fries. Plus a bucket of beer. Oh, we loved that the Blue Crab has a fairly large kids menu, six total items that max out at $6.95 and include french fries. Our kiddos enjoyed their burgers.Short and sweet, we will happily return to The Blue Crab.

First off on a beautiful Sunday the patio seating area is one of the best places to be. The service is good with servers that are welcoming and attentive.I like to consider myself an oyster connoisseur so of course I went for a half dozen raw. They were fresh and and clean. For my entree I ordered the BBQ Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was flavorful but sadly the Grits portion was skimpy. The BBQ sauce from the shrimp overpowered the the dish. More grits would have balanced out the meal in my opinion. Overall 3 out of 5.

Went tier a few weeks ago with a friend. I had their fried oyster Poboy with some steamed vegetables, it was delicious! And then the bananas foster bread pudding a la mode, and my god! It was incredible! Still dream about it to this day. I think we also had the jalapeño cornbread or jalapeño hush puppies, not sure which one it was, I did not get a picture of it, but I do remember enjoying it. I think my friend had the shrimp and grits and it came with a biscuit, and I definitely enjoyed munching on that as well. The service was good, the ambience was nice, we ate at night, so I was not a scenic as during the day. But during the day, it is really nice to look out on the water and see the boats in the palm trees. Would definitely come back.

Came here for the happy hour oysters and man, what a deal! 90¢ happy hour oysters and we each had a dozen. The oysters here are twice the size as the ones I've had home in California. I was super impressed by the size and deal! This restaurant is also located right on the water, lending to a beautiful evening sunset. I hope to return again soon!

Expensive but OH so good!! We went New Years Eve and sat at the bar. Best crab claws anyplace (and I would know!). Great dessert of a brownie and ice cream. Great end to a two week trip. This isn't our first visit, and it won't be our last!

Definitely worth it for the views and location of this spot. Plus their oyster happy hour is excellent. Service was pretty good but I did feel like we were upsold on everything. Turns out every last bit of their menu is fried. Maybe I missed something but there was limited diversity to how everything was prepared. It's not bad if you go in expecting that, but I think I would have liked some of my seafood to not be breaded as an option. Would come back for happy hour and the vibe but I'd probably just leave it at that.

How bad can this place be if the name is blue crab? Not sure why the reviews aren't great here, but the food and service was great. Their cocktail menu was fairly priced and the options were nice. I had the reviver and was very happy with my choice. We then ordered the blue crab dip, because why not and it's in the name. I ordered the shrimp and grits because I will order this 8 times out of 10 when I'm at a restaurant. The flavors were amazing and the water view was exactly what we all needed. Great spot and good food!

The food was great! Fresh ! I liked just about everything, the hush puppies were a bit dry but that's ok. We got the blue crab platter which was pretty much a seafood platter plus a stuffed crab and crab claws. Raw and chargrilled oysters. Salads & eggplant spears. Our server was Nell, she was awesome! Very nice and pleasant. We sat next to the window, although the weather was ugly we enjoyed the scenery. It's a very big restaurant, indoorAnd outdoor seating. We will be back !
