Taj Mahal Indian Cuisine

We were exhausted from all the Nola partying and decided to order delivery. We love Indian food and this restaurant came highly recommended from a local. We ordered Chicken Pasanda, Lamb Saag and Kabuli Naan with cherries, nuts and raisins. The yogurt marinated chicken simmered in a saffron almond cream sauce was incredibly moist and perfectly spiced. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the Saag was more spicy spinach than cream which was a nice twist on an old favorite. The sweet Naan was the perfect accompaniment!This was a truly tasty takeout

Went for the affordable Restaurant Week menu!- ~$15.Loved the fluffiness of the Lasuni naan (garlic bread)! Dipped it in the creamy chicken tikka Marsala! The seasoning was--WOW. Finished it off with the Gulab jamun for dessert! It's a powdered milk dessert with a sweet syrup! I can taste the saffron and cardamon in the syrup! Perfect on some naan for some sweetness. The service was fast and he was nice and attentive! It was a little warm in the building when I came in but still enjoyed my meal. They played Indian music at the level that wasn't too loud.

I visited here for the first time on a Friday about a week ago. There were some parking spaces at the restaurant. There was no issue getting a table. The service was great. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and a side of regular naan bread. The food was good. The Tikka Masala tasted a little different from how its tasted when I've had it in the past at other restaurants, but it still was a very nice flavor. I ordered a glass of one of their white wines and it was a good choice.

We went for lunch for restaurant week, but the owner was really sweet and told us they would be continuing daily specials throughout the summer for lunch. We shared four entrees. All were really tasty. Not much heat so I would ask for spicy next time. The lamb curry and sage paneer were my favorites! Service was good, but it did take a little while. I went on my lunch break and it took about an hour and a half. The place it cute. Nice big tables with traditional Indian vibes.

Super happy we finally got to check this place off of our list. Stopped in on a Saturday night around 7 and it wasn't super busy, which is what I'd prefer. Our server was the right amount of attentive and made a recommendation that turned out really good. We haven't had Indian food since we moved here over 3 years ago and this place hit the spot. The winner of the night was chicken Tika masala followed closely by the chicken tandoori. We didn't love the lamb byriani but it still wasn't bad, maybe just a bit dry. We'd definitely come back.

Delicious Indian food in the heart of old Metairie. If you are looking for an authentic dish, this is the place for you. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is fantastic. Our waiter, Arun, was patient with us as we tried to decided what to get and was always making sure we had everything we needed. Great place!

We love Taj Mahal!!! The food- the ambiance- the staff is always so kind and hospitable. I've been coming here since I was younger with my dad - the other night I went with my husband and son and we were eating a delicious meal. I only took pic of appetizer but we also had the chicken tikka and the gobi Manchurian. Everything was fantastic. The next morning I realized my purse was missing- I had left it hanging on my chair!!! We called the next morning and they fully expected us to call- they held my purse for me until we were able to pick it up. I honestly had no worries with it being there in the hands of their staff - this is such a nice neighborhood place. Please check it out!

Delicious food! Menu has a ton of variety for veg options. Amazing decor/seating. Transported me to Agra. Highly recommend!

Their food is amazing! Super flavorful. Great service. The best Indian food I've had in the New Orleans area. Definitely get the chutney tray, a wonderful array of sauces and chutneys!

Amazing. Delicious. Authentic! Lunch is the best. Lots of small plates that equal a wonderful meal with lots to take home. Butter chicken; YES! Tandoori chicken: order extra! Saag paneer: this real Indian spice balance. You will love it!All desserts are made fresh each day. Service is impeccable. Professional.
