This is how small my layers was. I have purchased cakes here for over 20+ years and this is unacceptable.

These cakes are AMAZING!! I have always had positive experiences and will continue giving them my business until given a reason to feel differently. The cake is so soft, perfectly moist, and the icing is just the right level of sweetness -- *chef's kiss*

Tried Swiss Confectionery for the first time when ordering a birthday cake. I called ahead to find out about availability and time I would need to call to have the cake ready for a certain day. Their turnaround time was about a day prior to pick up. I ordered vanilla with pineapple filling. I requested magenta as the script color. We discussed over the phone, and both agreed it was a deep and vibrant pink. When I picked it up, I peeked inside, and it was quite dark . At first, the script looked brown, but when I opened the box fully, it was more of a deep purple. The lady explained that they recommend bringing swatches to provide a more accurate or, at most, a closer representation of the color requested. I'll definitely do that next time. On to the taste, the cake was delicious. More importantly, it was extremely moist, which was wonderful. I heard many good things about Swiss. In spite of the trivial issue with the script color, overall, my experience with Swiss was great. I'll definitely use them again.

I ordered an eatable image and the young female put a letter out of place. I asked could you move it and she texted "you do it or have someone do it for you". I spoke to Sarah and she did not care and want to say how good a person Asley is...she hung up on me and showed not respect just as the young Ashley. With her attitude, this has to be her daughter. She wants to refer you to her for an eatable image. Why not do it in house and not send it to a piece of work like her? When she sent me to the girl, she had no idea I had already spoke to her when ordering the cake, so she doing sneaky business behind this character Sarah's back.I recommend that no one do business with these lower class people.

The cake tasted fine, so this review isn't a matter of if the cake was good or not. However, I am extremely disappointed in the execution & the drastic difference between what my husband asked for vs what he received. Yesterday was my 27th birthday & my husband ordered a cake from Swiss to pick up on his way home from work to surprise me with when he got home. Unfortunately, he is way too kind to express that the cake didn't look anything like what was discussed/agreed upon & also did not want to show up empty handed so he still paid for the cake. I feel like it was extremely unfair to my husband that he was told that they could make the cake he asked for but instead made something that is nowhere near what he was expecting. The cake tasted fine but we will not be returning for any cakes that are even remotely difficult/complex. Pictured below is what he asked for & what was made by the bakery

I am so disappointed with Swiss. I tried the again recently, January 2024, after a long hiatus only to discover that they've gotten worse. My cake box or my cake smelled like sweaty puppies the bakery does not even smell like a bakery. I wanted to stop the car and throw the cake out of the window. It smelled so badly. mind you I have a new car and I had nothing else in my car but the cake. Home, we serve the cake during our celebration and everyone asked what Bakery baked our cake, it was because it was horrible. I'm done. The Bakery that once a-dawned the beautiful Frenchman neighborhood moved to St. Charles Street and now located at the Can Company is no longer a great bakery. So sad to see the real and original Swiss go.

My family and I have traditionally gotten cakes for all occasions from "the ORIGINAL" Swiss Confectionery for over 30 years. Since moving to the new location on Orleans Avenue and changing ownership/management, it has been one disappointment after the other. First and foremost, the service is not the same. The warm greetings and smiles that once welcomed us into the bakery are no more. July 2021- Ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday in July. I emailed them a picture which showed the colors of the cake were to be brights/neons (pink, purple, green, etc.) When we picked up the cake it was decorated with primary colors (red, blue, yellow)...totally not what was pictured. My husband refused to take the cake, and they were quite unapologetic, but thankfully remade the cake correctly. December 2022 - In the past, "the ORIGINAL" Swiss would take orders 1-2 days before for a simple birthday cake. Tried to order a cake 2 days before for my mother-in-laws birthday on December 12 and was told that they only take orders 3 days ahead. I mean...REALLY??? What's up with that? Fast forward to today...went in to order a birthday cake for myself for December 29...6 days ahead given the Christmas Holiday...and was told that the bakery would be CLOSED the last week of December (the first time ever) so that the owner/manager could fly home for Christmas. Totally understandable, but there's no one in place who can run the business while the manager flies home?? As stated before, my family and I have gotten cakes here for over 30 years and it's just kinda shocking and sad. The quality of the cakes since all of the changes has been hit or miss, but each time we still gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was SWISS. But now...it just seems like the new management just doesn't care about customer courtesy or satisfaction. As one of the other reviewers stated, consider another local bakery that offers better quality and customer service because if you're looking for the Swiss that once was...as far as I'm concerned, Swiss just "ain't there no mo"!

My wife and I got married 20June2020 and when we were looking at City Park as a venue, we narrowed (amoung the possible choices) to here and Haydel's. We did cake tasting, and it was only okay. The flavors were buttercream (vanilla and chocolate) and fruit flavors (lemon, strawberry, raspberry, and pineapple). The fruit flavors tasted like pie filling from a can. The cake was all dense angel food cake. The designs were nice and the service was great, but I think we're going with Haydel's instead. Better service there; more variety of flavors; and lower prices. If you are getting married, this is one of the better choices but not the best option. At least try out Haydel's (and 'test' a hand pie while you are there, you know to see if you want to buy them for your reception to give out).

No longer deserves it's (former) reputation. B- for effort, B-ish for choices. A+ for talent. They're trying but woefully understaffed. And the clients are, well, trashy. So if you're up to standing in a long line - even with an appointment - and wanna risk scrapping with trashy clients also waiting, go for it. Otherwise there are many, many other options in NOLA.
