Superior Grill

We visited twice the weekend before Mardi Gras on Friday and Sunday. While the restaurant was crowded on Friday night because of the parades, the bartender worked the crowd quickly and the margaritas (as usual) were good. Bathroom access was controlled by red tokens provided for each drink purchased which proved effective at controlling access to paid customers. Sunday was an entirely different experience. The restaurant decided to charge a $10 cover just to enter. Contributing to the chaos, they used a different door to get into the restaurant on Sunday as compared to Friday. This resulted in large, frustrated crowds standing outside (whether you already had a wristband or not) and was borderline dangerous if you were trying to visit with children. This change was poorly planned due to the resulting bottleneck at the door, an insult to longtime patrons of this venue, and will cause us to think twice about returning to what is otherwise a fun spot on St. Charles Avenue.

This is not traditional Tex-mex but a hodgepodge of TexMex with a New Orleans influence. Some it works and some of it doesn't.The queso was good, I'll give them that. The cup of tortilla soup I ordered had a good flavor, but most of what was in there was just two huge chunks of potato. For my dinner, I ordered the lettuce wraps because the menu said they were served with kimchi. There was no actual kimchi, rather a sauce that was supposed to be kimchi with a single sliver of cucumber. It was very disappointing.

So I've been itching to check out Superiors grill for some time time so I stopped by recently for a solo dinner to check it out. The decor itself is very cool and festive. Superior's has a real cozy feel to it. I sat in the front facing the windows out to St Charles. The party atmosphere was more in the bar area.Food was neither great or bad just sort of standard Mexican. The chips and Salsa were really good. I had a combo plate of enchiladas - chicken, shrimp, crawfish. Again very average.Service unfortunately was horrendous. It was not busy in there so where in the Hell my server kept disappearing to was an absolute mystery. For blocks at a time my server was no where to be found. No check back, no refills on water or margarita, but boy was she itching to put that check down. When I asked to see the dessert menu I got this look like, you gotta be kidding me? Then preceded to tell me in hush tones that I didn't want the desserts and coffee here because they were sub par when in realty she just didn't want to be bother with me anymore. I really didn't care and ordered the butterfingers pie and it was damned good!I'm glad I finally tried Superiors but there are so many other much better Mexican restaurants around than to settle on this mediocre place.

Good consistent food. This is your neighborhood Mexican place. Everyone shows up to eat chips and salsa, the margaritas have alcohol and taste good, the food makes you happy then you go home. No bells or whistles, no eccentric menu items. The servers will check on you. And the place is cozy without needing to be extra. And that's not a bad thing. You know what you're going to get every time and that's a really good feeling sometimes. It's a fun place to bring a bunch of friends in your lounge attire and just chill

Yes!!!! Great Mexican restaurant on St. Charles Avenue with the best food and margaritas. Perfect for gatherings and celebrations. Service is good and consistent.

Anthony at the bar was exceptional with taking care of our order. Always a good time enjoying delicious Tex-Mex and yummy margaritas. Superior is known for a reason. They do it right on all aspects - food, service, drinks. Never disappoints. My go-to Tex-Mex choice for consistently good food and fantastic margaritas!

We had a great meal here recently. The staff accommodated us with a reservation for 8 when I called (max was 6 online). They provided a high chair for us, so it is kid friendly. The service was great, the food was excellent and they even did a birthday celebration for my wife's birthday (not complimentary). The crawfish enchiladas and taco dinner were great. The margaritas were tasty. The bathrooms were located outside in a trailer, but they were clean.

I ate at this location on Cleo Friday with a very large group and was extremely impressed! Even though they were super busy, we sat down quickly. Got our food and drinks in a timely manner. Everything was delicious! I enjoyed the flavor of their queso. I ordered the filet tacos and they were TOO DIE FOR! I completely forgot to snap pictures but it was delicious! The drinks were amazing, the vibe was great, and we also got a stamp to have a restroom to use during the parade! Our waitress let us know she was new but she was on point!! I'll definitely be back!

Few years back, used to be good spot.Food is now bland and the Margaritas look like dishwater.Service uninspired.
