NOT A FAN OF THE THICK BREADING OR heavy handed spices - very little chicken flavor, $1.25 per tender.

One of our frequent stops; although this place seems packed any time we go, it makes sense why! Conveniently located, access to gas, and the convenience store has pretty much everything you need with laidback, friendly staff to welcome you in. Their food is pretty legit too and is compares positively (price and quality) - i like the fried catfish! dont knock it until you try it ;)

EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE A BIT MORE:1. More thick breading on the fried chicken than the usual tempura versions (see pic). I also don't like the seasoning here - it's heavy-handed, leaving little chicken flavor.2. More options though than say a Brother's, however. There are 3 flavors of wings - all with light sauces.3. The gas here seems to always be $0.10 more per gallon than the stations on Lee Circle or on Jackson at Magazine.

I've been patronizing Sterling Express Gas for approximately 7 years now; although I only go there perhaps once or twice a month. The station is actually owned by New Orleans Native Wendell Pierce, so I like the fact that it's locally owned and "operated". (FYI - Don't go there expecting Pierce to be ringing you at the cash register.)Sterling carries Shell gas, but they are far from being the lowest price in town. Current prices as yesterday (9/4/16) are $2.09 for regular, $2.51 for mid-grade and $2.81 for premium. I often fill up my company cars and trucks here because it is conveniently located near the Port of New Orleans and I pass there all the time. Be warned that when getting gas, the video monitors/TV's at the pumps automatically start playing messages/commercials and the volume is so loud that it will startle you if you are not paying attention. Kudos to the large truck style diesel pumps on the opposite side of the building of the gas pumps. It's wide lanes, tall overhead and absence of car traffic makes it easy for 18 wheelers to get their fuel here. The inside of the store is your typical convenience store, with all the normal selections of coffee, sodas, juices, power drinks, beer, hard liquor and cigarettes. There's even a fried chicken "restaurant" inside named Champs that sells chicken, chicken strips, livers and gizzards. I've never tried it but there's always a line so it must be pretty good.I see a lot of negative reviews for Sterling Express, but I've never had any issues here, other than a long line at the cashier. However, I would probably only recommend going here during daylight hours, as this area can be sketchy at night.

The credit card readers on the pumps are perpetually broken, so you have to go inside. Then you go inside, and none of the employees are wearing masks. Not "wearing masks wrong", but not wearing anything at all, in the middle of a global pandemic that has killed two of my friends. Then they make you wait an eternity while they do other things, so you have to stand there and expose yourself to everyone's germs while they mess around.I left and went to the shell on Magazine, where the pumps worked and I didn't have to go inside.Avoid this place. Unacceptable.

This place cannot rate a star ... filthy... nothing works... trashy. Highest prices in town. Even their phone line doesn't work. Never can get a receipt. Most pump displays are not working. Shell needs to be made aware of all the hideous things that happen here.

One is overrated. Fuuuuhk this place. First off the card machine at the gas pump is broke.. This ain't the first time they sucked butts. So i walked inside he looked me up and down like I stole someone's credit card then said is it your card.. I'm need some ID. I was like it's my girls in the car. So she goes in then says the names don't match... She goes no, you assuming my middle name is my last name you didn't read it. Then proceeds to not give her a receipt. Eat doodood

I've come to this gas station before without incident. It's in the middle pricewise and conveniently on my way home most of the time. However, sometime between the last time I was here and this time, they added televisions at every pump to play advertisements. I'm not sure if they are constantly running or motion activated, but when I pulled up to pump my gas tonight, the volume was set so loud that it startled me out of my socks. It was blaring at me the entire time I pumped my gas and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I even went inside the convenience store and asked the clerk if there was anything to do to turn it down. He kept telling me it was not his problem very rudely, even though I had been as polite as possible when I asked. I gave up, told him it was horrible, and sat in my car to write this review since there's nothing else I can do.

This is not the most expensive gas in town, like some folks say. It is not the cheapest, but not bad for convenience-lots of pumps. A few times the card reader doesn't work and u have to pay inside.
