Came here for brunch. Large restaurant with a bar and lots of seating. Friendly staff and good service. We got wings which were good, alligator balls - reminded me of a boudin ball kind off - yummy!I ordered the French dip - very good - I could only eat half and was full.My friend ordered the half muffuletta (IT WAS HUGE - the side of the whole plate)!Side note - I was at an event last weekend and Southside cafe was serving jumbalaya and it was THE BEST jumbalaya I've ever had! Next time I'm ordering that. Would definitely be back!

Stopped here for late lunch on a Sunday. It was a bit crowded but we didn't have to wait too long for a table. Our server was friendly and quick. We had the crawfish balls (with some banging homemade remoulade!) The 1/2 and 1/2 seafood po boy and the Big Mo Jamma po boy. The seafood was fresh and delicious and the Big Mo was amazing! Even better with that remoulade lolKinda bummed fries are a la carte but otherwise a very solid experience!

This place was was great. Went on a first date and knowing that my date was in the Navy, I asked if we could go there, he agreed not knowing that they gave discounts to Veterans until paying for the check. Food was great and service was outstanding!I will definitely go there again and recommend it to anyone going to Slidell.

Well, work has me in Slidell, Louisiana passing thru to Pensicola, Florida. As you know I always try local restaurants rather than a chain. Decided to try Southside Cafe due to it's location to my hotel and it's reviews. Decided to sit at the bar so I could get in and out quick and had the BEAUTIFUL bartender "Payge" as my server.First I tried the Blackened Yellowfin. It was outstanding. Next I ordered fried shrimp or what is know as Buffalo shrimp. I decided to go all in and try their own dipping/tossing sauce Called "Swamp Burner" Shrimp FRESH right off the boat. As far as the Swamp Burner sauce...it spicy but I'm hispanic from San Antonio, Texas. This sauce was mild in my opinion. All in all this place is outstanding. Great mom and pop or local restaurant. Definitely 5 stars and will stop by again if ever in the area again.

I went to Southside with 26 of my friends. I love this place. My lady friend and I had Reuben sandwich's along with seafood gumbo. They were great. We all live in the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport Mississippi. We get to visit different places every month. This is our favorite restaurant go to. I need to start taking pictures of our meal, but I always forget until I finish. Everything my friends was great. The service is excellent. You can tell the owner was in the military by the pictures on the walls. Can't wait to go back!

We were visiting from Oregon and my mom wanted some good southern food. This place is highly rated so we decided to check it out. We were starving so we decided to start with the appetizer of fried mushrooms. Then I ordered a club sandwich and my mom got the catfish with gumbo and hush puppies (doesn't get any more southern than that!). We decided to share the bread pudding with bourbon sauce for dessert. Everything was delicious! Our server was very friendly and food came out quickly!

I had the pleasure of dining here yesterday for lunch. This establishment is in a word, fantastic. It has a lively and festive atmosphere, the service was excellent and the food was superb. I had an oyster poor boy and some gumbo and they knocked it out of the park on both. This restaurant rivals or beats any competitor in metro New Orleans for a neighborhood style establishment. I would give 6 stars is I could.

Worth the drive off the hwy! We were headed to Nola for a concert and I found this spot on Yelp and decided it looked good enough to try! First of all this place was busy at 5 so you know the locals love it, but we were seated right away and greeted with drinks within minutes! Started with some beers and side salad, decent size portion but nothing fancy. The menu is very extensive, so there are lots of options which I love, we were already talking that we can't wait to come back and try something while we were eating our meal. Pork chops were perfectly cooked and tender, no dryness what so ever. The sweet potato fries were good but could have been cooked just a smidge longer. The Reuben was just what I was looking for, it was perfect, only downside that it doesn't come with a side. The drink menu looked long and had a lot of variety is well from beer, daiquiris, margs, martinis, etcLast note that I saw on menu, that they do offer a good happy hour, probably why it was already busy at 5! We felt like a local coming here and we will definitely be back.

The French dip sandwich was delicious and the waitress was very friendly and recommended items off the menu. The smoked tuna was also a great dish to start with. The ambiance was family friendly and not loud.
