Another cool, literally the a/c felt so good here, shop along the Magazine Street corridor. A well curated shop for rock and punk music as the owner is well versed in these genres. They also carry a small section of both new/used jazz, r&b and hip-hop music.

Sisters in Christ occupies a needed niche. The scope of its stock is limited. They have a modest stock of used records of varying rarity and commonality, reasonably priced. That's fine for what it is. Their new stock is a marvel to behold. The range is quite narrow--recent metal/punk/hardcore and other related genres--but the selection within those categories is unreal. Read the other reviews for more info about their focus, but for those interested in those areas, this store should not disappoint. Staff were friendly and helpful. One more thing: check the address and be wary of using the map in Yelp. The shop is on Magazine St and not Freret.

Despite what the incredibly naive passerby (myself) may assume from seeing the C-word (Christ) on the edifice of a store, let me reassure you that the good people at Sisters in Christ are not trying to proselytize or otherwise convert you to any kind of religion - apart maybe from an interest in vinyl records. I stopped by on my way to a meeting earlier today, and was immediately impressed by the collection of vinyl records that they had in their store - all genres, big names and indie bands, and a particularly interesting section for local New Orleans music. I browsed through these for a few minutes before turning to their collection of books along the wall, which was well-stocked with editions of all the classics - To Kill a Mockingbird, Picture of Dorian Gray, and seemingly every copy of Chomsky that some dude bought, never read, then ditched at the nearest book-selling establishment. Interspersed with these were smaller selections of books covering topics of feminism, LGBTQ+ and queer studies, race, socioeconomic inequality and intersectional combinations of the aforementioned - a curatorial choice that I really appreciated, in addition to the willingness of the shop to center these books on their shelves, make them accessible and - importantly - make them affordable. They also had a great selection of well-designed merchandise, including t-shirts and 5-buck tote bags. I ended up buying three editions from the 1960s-1980s -' The Time Machine, Dracula and the Brave New World - for a tidy $8 before heading out. Despite not having a record player, I'll likely be back to browse their collection more thoroughly - and will certainly be back to pick up more books. I'd recommend this place to anyone, despite their affinities or affiliations, and would bring my friends here if we ever found ourselves back in this area of Magazine.I also got a sticker with my purchase! pretty cool.

Selection was amazing for the genres they focus on and pricing was fair. Enjoyed my conversation with the guy running the shop. A must stop on future trips to NOLA.

If you like certain extreme styles of punk and metal, this is got to be the best place to go to in New Orleans! The people working in the store are nice and chill with no intention to judge what you buy. They have cool things to buy for entertainment and music like cassettes, vinyls, books, and magazines that have funny comics in it! If you are touring New Orleans for the culture or whatever, you should take a peek inside the store and maybe buy a cassette, vinyl, or even a book or magazine, there's so much to look at in the store!

Weird, wonky, eclectic (and vast!) selection of vintage vinyl.Sebastian was particularly friendly and ready to respond to our inquiries.I hear that the shows here are well worth your time, but my schedule in New Orleans just didn't accommodate the next show scheduled when I was last in town.

Happened to pass by this afternoon while on my way to lunch. Found some really good 70's and 80's hard rock vinyl for very reasonable prices in the recent arrivals used section.

Tiny but Super cool vinyl plus store. Taxi or Uber drive away. I spent at least an hour here. Tanner was working that day. He had Post Malone playing, but as it turns out, he is in a local metal band (space cadavers). The metal selection is huge, however, I found it to be either too new or obscure for my taste. I prefer heavy metal and thrash music from the late 80s and early 90s. He was happy to play any disc that I was curious about, and we both ended discovering some cool bands. I did find some stuff in their newly added section, and walked out with about 8-9 albums for less than $60 bucks. The decor and vibe is very anti-Christian (in a fun kinda way), even the record selection. Maybe this will deter some people from going, but I found it interesting and fascinating.

This is the only place I can buy a record of that show...at the place? You know, during summer. By those dudes? They even have that record. Plus I like the wall art .
