We bought a central city muffuletta here since the shop next door is closed for repairs. When we bought it, the cashier made a rude comment when I asked if there was any way to get it cut in half. (" there are many ways to cut a sandwich in half, but it's your sandwich, so I will let you figure that out "). We let it go and proceeded to the park to eat. Once there, we noticed that the sandwich had an expiration date of 8/28, and it is currently 9/1. When we brought the sandwich back to let her know, she told us that the date there was a "made on" date and not an expiration date as it was clearly stated. I politely asked for a refund, since the sandwich was completely sealed and clearly not touched. She refused to issue a refund for the expired sandwich, saying all sales are final. Avoid this place!!

Absolute worst service that I've had anywhere!! Bar none! The scraggly looking guy (beard, lt brown hair, trucker hat. He looks like he should be sitting outside begging for money) was so rude. We stopped in on Sat 11/2/24 at around 7:20pm.. We were getting rung up, when I asked about the muffaletta, I wanted to know if I should pick up Sun or if I should wait until Mon. He says "we don't have anything to do with Muffaletta!!!" I said " You mean you don't sell it and pointed to the cooler on the other side that held said muffaletta?? He was so f'n rude, that he put a damper on my night. What a miserable person! I've been buying Central Grocery Muffaletta from Sidney's since Central Grocery has been shut down for renovations. Every year, I buy several, I just wanted to know if I should buy them earlier or not. I think there were even signs that said to ask about the Muffaletta. I'm sure people buying them has brought a lot of business to Sidneys's, this guy should not be working with the public! There is usually a lady during the day that we normally deal with, she is pleasant.

The famous Muffuletta sandwiches by Central Grocery (still closed next door) are pre-made and stocked here. When you walk into the store, there is a small sign directly ahead (facing towards you on the closest wood shelf) advertising the famous Muffulettas. The Muffuletta sandwiches are stocked in a small refrigerator behind the front counter so you must ask the clerk to purchase it. A half muffuletta (cut in two pieces) is $18. A whole muffuletta is $27 (cut in four pieces) and nearly the size of a small pizza. I suggest paying cash since Sidney's charges a small surcharge fee if you use a credit card. The muffuletta is very well packaged in its own plastic bag so you do not need any additional bag for carrying. The clerk was friendly to me.The muffulettas are equally delicious as I remember eating them inside Central Grocery's store next door.

Went over to Sindeys to get a muffuletta from Central Groceries. However, an employee said they've been closed for two years very rudely. He said, "they've been closed for two years and you can just Google it". While we under the impression we weren't able to buy anything from central grocery because of him later I found out that was incorrect. The employee needs to learn some manners.

They're selling central groceries' muffulettas and they're absolutely to die for. 1000% recommend getting one if you're in the area.

We stopped in to pick up "the big ole famous sandwich from next door" just before heading to the airport for our flight home. There are signs outside to advise that, while the repairs are completed next door, you can grab yourself a sandwich here. On entry, we found a register on each side of the door, both were staffed and the gent to the right greeted us cheerfully. We had our sandwich and we were out the door in less than 5 minutes. Staff were friendly & efficient.I kind of regret not taking the opportunity to take a better look around the store to see what they offer for their own products. Anywho, great stop!

You need to accept credit cards, always -- not just sometimes. You do get a little credit for "sometimes" though, but it does not make up for a wasted trip.

I excitedly bounced into this store not for liquor, but for a world famous muffuletta from Central Gro. Co. whivh happens to be under renovation d/t Hurricane Katrina some years back. I was so happy to see the arrow directing customers to Sidney's where their muffulettas are sold until Central re-opens. I did not see a sign or any indication that muffuletta's were there so I politely asked. The cashier was nice-nasty as she shined a flashlight at the sign that I clearly missed as I entered. It wasn't immediately noticeable amid all the crammed clutter (liquor) in the store. I shared my apprehension of trying it with a customer who encouraged me to try it. I wasn't certain if I wanted it after seeing it wasn't freshly prepared like the Grocer sells them. In the meantime a group of older men came in behind me also inquiring about them. They too didn't see the sign. The cashier on the other side pointed a flashlight at the sign and began yelling at the customers as to what the sign said and what to do if they wanted one. Immediately my antennas rose and I was hot as fish grease! That is simply no way to treat any customer and I was furious. I thought to myself, if this is any indication or reflection of Central Gro. Co., they can have it. I was so appalled that I made a U-turn and immediately left the store MUFFALETTA-LESS! There are many other places in New Orleans that sell Muffulettas, so I was not out of anything except for my blood pressure rising to the ceiling. I am not sure what is wrong with people who think it's OK to treat customers any kind of way. money is green and even if you don't like a person, you should act like it so that you are able to receive their business. I made up my mind long ago that I would not pay anyone for any service to treat me like crap and I mean it. This was the second encounter in one day where someone acted ugly and I made a U-turn and left without purchasing anything. I've learned that it is OK to do without and be content. While I am enjoying my stay in New Orleans, I'm finding that some of the people here that are business owners have much to be desired. I may not make a difference where there are thousands and thousands of customers, but this lady will always carry dignity and pride in how she treats others and how she spends her coins. Enough said! How bout it?

Thank you Sidney's for helping me to get the best and original muffuletta sandwich while in town! Short line, moved fast, and I was very excited as I had walked about 1mile to get this delicious sandwich, next door to original location while is being renovated. I called an the first day was sold out! but on day two I called ahead & I was able to make it down in time to get one!
