Shell Gas Station and Mini Mart

Rating remains the same and actually don't think anything has actually changed in what this store has to offer--it's a convenience store with a hot deli---but they did perform a quick interior remodel and for some reason or another I felt like it was worthy of mentioning! My law practice of the last 18 months or so is such that I have more business lunches and eating out so I do not come here as often but when I eat in, this is still a go to spot for me.

I love the owners of this gas station. They are always so, so friendly. And they've got jokes! I've been here a million times and still every time I buy a lottery ticket and show my ID, they say "ok and we're over 21 today right?" I live next door so the convenience is out of this world. They have an incredible snack selection and I can always count on finding my Razzleberry Peace Tea here. They're also actually sort of famous in this area of Baton Rouge for the hot lunches they sell. Chicken, biscuits, sandwiches. They've had to set up a few tables outside because so many people who work in this area stop by for lunch. They've made a name for themselves and I couldn't be happier for them!

The guy that is always working the counter is so friendly. He always remembers his regulars and makes conversation. The store is clean and has a lot of stuff, including a little deli in the back.

As most would expect writing a review about a gas station isn't as wonderful as one might think. With so many choices to choose from why would anyone take the time to write about a gas station. Well for one if it's outside your neighborhood and the people are friendly and the variety of goods is ok why not, maybe it'll persuade someone from stopping at another less favorable gas station. These guys hold normal business hours almost. 5 am to 10 pm I think are there hours. Just a simple 4 pumps and the gas may be a few cents more than the rest of town, (not like that lunatic on Jefferson in Bocage, if you live here you know the one). The infomercial LCD's on the gas pumps almost never work, but when they do they feed you the local weather report or lotto numbers. The gas pumps are fast so you're not sitting around forever. The mini-mart sits adjacent to a nail salon, I've never been to the nail salon but they seem to be doing well enough to stay open. The mini mart though has all the standard fare. It's kind of like walking into the convenience store in the movie Clerks. (if you haven't seen it, watch it). Then in the back one of the owners brothers has a hamburger / gyro stand. During the day he cooks up cheeseburger/fry combo's for the hungry gas getters and the occasional gyro request he's happy to oblige. They stock UTZ potato chips there which is a huge plus for me. They also stock fresh crackling's from time to time in the little Ziploc baggies. They have a killer deal of a 32 oz soda for 99 cents which is better than the circle K deal down the street and they have an Icee machine. They even have little seats and tables inside and a few outside if you like eating your hot dog in the humid air. While it's not a 7-11 like those back east or west, it's a nice quick easy mart with nice folks behind the counter and plenty of booze and smokes to keep a suburban LSU sports watching Dad or housewife happy. Easy in / Easy Out traffic flow and easy to find makes this gas station I actually like going to.

Love the food and the people in the kitchen always kind and courteous and if you order carry out the fries are always fresh and hot thank you guys keep up the good work

Went for on lunch break to get a bbq beef sandwich and ended up with with a bread and cheese sandwich. They only put a very small amount of beef on the sandwich. I will not be going back to the deli again.

So things have changed here. My friendly front counter guy went back to Pakistan I think they said. Revolving door at front register. Guy who runs Deli....... I can't help but think he sees us all as a bunch of infidels. Food is pretty good. Pretty consistent Price is great. Byw. Gyros now SUCK. used to really like them. I wish they'd raise price s little snd quit cutting corners. That ship has sailed though. Now it would be corners cut and price increased.
