This was an amazing experience! My mouth is watering just looking through all these pictures again. It's not part of the main restaurant and if I wasn't with a friend, I probably wouldn't know where to go. The room is small but intimate, which I felt allowed us to enjoy the experience more. Seiji's omakase was delicious. I loved every dish he gave us and I wish I had a better tracking of what everything was. They asked if we had any concerns with allergies at the beginning and Seiji asked us about our preference for the sea urchin, but other than that it was all his recommendation. I would highly recommend doing this with a friend or two. It is surprisingly filling but you'll probably need some more food later. Honestly, I'm counting down the days I can go again!

Seiji has been one of my favorite local sushi spots lately. I've been there plenty of times, and I just can't get enough of it!!! The price point for the omakase is well worth it. I've gotten el la carte, the $70 & $120 omakase. I find the $70 course menu to fit my stomach capacity perfectly. I don't have many pictures of the full course as I immediately devour each piece within seconds. It has a whole different vibe to little tokyo's section of the restaurant. It's surprisingly calm and quiet. Our waiter/waitress is always so helpful and welcoming.

This is probably the best omakase experience in the city! I'm so amazed at the intricate details and quality of the experience is nothing but perfect. The fish to rice ratio was unmatched and completely ruined other omakase experiences for me and hubby. we have tried Shogun, Nagomi, Yakusa house. Seiji is my favorite. Chef not only provided exceptional service but food as well. We had a variety of traditional nigiris that highlights just the fish. Toro and black cod were my absolutely favorite dish. They melt in your mouth like no other. i was shocked when the soup came out that also features a fish too! The plating was so much fun. We were thoroughly full and satisfied by the time dessert came but we finished dessert too because it was so good. We had matcha cheesecake with a sort of chocolate jello and red bean paste pastry, it was a beautiful marriage.

Dining in Seiji's is the correct method of enjoying Japanese food. It is beyond sushi. Each morsel is special. Service is impeccable. Ambiance is totally comforting.

Amazing hidden treasure! I kinda don't wanna share this so I can keep it to myself forever but at the same time, I want people to support Seiji. I will definitely visit again when I'm back in NOLA.

Chef Seiji has officially ruined other sushi restaurants for me--he's that good.Omakase, if you've never done it before, can sound like an intimidating experience; you leave the entire menu to the chef (the word literally means "I leave it to you," after all) and don't know what you're going to get next. But if there was anybody to guide you through this whimsical dining journey, you can't do any better than Chef Seiji. The sushi offerings showcase Chef Seiji's range from the traditional (some of the most decadent toro nigiri I've ever had) to the innovative (torched black cod with miso) to the downright show-stopping (oyster shooter topped with uni and ikura). In the full-course kaiseki menu, more traditional Japanese dishes that don't get a lot of exposure at other Japanese restaurants get a chance to steal the show as well--my top votes go to the chawanmushi, a silky-smooth savory egg custard with shrimp, mushrooms, and other delights; and the dobin mushi, an elegant yuzu-mushroom teapot soup that warms your soul when the weather gets cool. You can't go wrong no matter what he puts out, though. Any perceived favorites would really just be a matter of personal preference (and I would be hard-pressed to choose just one out of the sushi offerings), because Chef hits it out of the park every. single. time. The sake list offers a wide variety. The by the glass prices appear steep but are quite generous pours, and even the more expensive by the bottle options are more than adequately shared amongst a group of 4.Throughout the whole course, it becomes very clear that Chef Seiji loves what he does, and he extends that love to those who come to partake of his creations. Few other restaurants convey that as proficiently and consistently as Chef Seiji does.

Simple environment, not as dressed up or hip as some places in downtown, but I respected the craft and unpretentious style of the chef and his assistant. It was occasionally hard to hear if the dishwasher or air was on.I didn't take notes or was given a menu for the omakase so... The first two courses - red-green-yellow trio and glass cup - were very delicious. The oyster was quite nice. One of the nigiri with a sauce on it and the scallop were so tasty, yum! The teapot soup was unique and comforting. Salmon quality was great, among other nigiri I was given. The dessert was ok, the variety was appreciated.10-12ish (?) courses... $120 was fair. Would come back and try their smaller omakase option. Solid 4.5/5.

Definitely, the best Omakase in this area! Here are three reasons why I think Seiji's Omakase is the best.1. Authentic style Most of Omakase courses in this area serves almost only sushi. Seiji's omakase takes a traditional Japanese style which serves an appetizer(s) , soup, and small desert. 2. Great value Seiji's Omakase offers the least expensive omakase course in this area. Their 4-course meal is only $70. The "4" means "appetizer, soup, 12 pieces of sushi, and desert". They also offers 7-course meal which was $120 that day. I choose 4-course meal. It was a huge portion!.3. Fresh and Large fishSeiji's gets fresh fish from Japan and uses large pieces of it for their sushi. Larger than any other places! I tried many omakase places. The most of omakase here are unique, and tasty, but Seiji is the best for me because their dishes are authentic and makes me feel I am in my country.
