Great local seafood fresh off the boat. My personal favorite is the Flounder. Don't have any Flounder this evening but they have Fresh Rabbit. The Seafood Platter is excellent. If you like Frog Legs , this is the place. Great food and Great atmosphere on Bayou Grand Caillou. Really nice owners.

This is one excellent restaurant! I. thoroughly enjoyed the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp were a great size and fried to perfection as were the fries. I must have been served sixteen shrimp. An even better meal was the whole fried flounder platter. The flounder was absolutely fresh and also fried to perfection. The flounder was quite large. The local fisherman who supplied the shrimp and flounders was at a nearby table. His boat was tied up out back. That makes for the freshest seafood. Schmoopy's is well worth the trip. Say hello to Ronnie Richaud and his wife Connie. It is flounder season so get there and enjoy. Call ahead and check availability. You will be glad you made the trip.

Best seafood gumbo on the planet. Everything here is amazing.

That thing that's moving off in the distance is another shrimp boat, floating down a canal from the Gulf - no doubt to bring you the ingredients for your seafood platter. The best thing about Schmoopy's is the feeling of Dulac, which is filled with people who live and breathe to catch fresh food out of the water. You can't go wrong with ordering the seafood platter. Ours came with delicious fish filets, large shrimp, and a nice cup of gumbo. I wouldn't stray from that selection. It's the Gulf's bounty on a plate. Bring those out-of-state relatives and they'll never be the same - in a good way. And, remind them that Mother nature and the "march of progress" is wiping authentic places like this off the earth. They'll talk about this trip for hours on their way back to Philadelphia, Albuquerque, or Cary, NC, and cry in their lattes when they realize that they live so far away from the real deal.

The fried shrimp and fish were fantastic. The onion rings were amazing. The best part was the genuine kindness and hospitality of the staff. I hear their boiled seafood is great too. This place is a must stop if you are in the area!

This is not fancy food, but it is definitely some of the best. Seafood that just walked off the boat, super nice people, and a chill vibe. Full of locals so you know it's good. Tried the seafood gumbo, soft shell crab platter and whole fried flounder with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. All FANTASTIC but the flounder was something special. Definitely worth the drive for authentic southern food.

Had plate lunch of white beans and rice, fried fish, cole slaw, bread, and cake. Liked the bread and cole slaw. The fish was over cooked and had a fishy taste which indicates it was not fresh.
