Really nice that this community have this market stop here. I feel like it definitely attracts people to this area with the location being here in te lower Ninth Ward. Given that this particular area had been wipes out pretty bad due to Hurricane Katrina, Progress has been really slow. I found out about this place through mt so WIC program and they suggested we check out this place. I did not know what I was getting into. I was so used to going to Winn Dixie or wLmart or the quarters to get my fruits and veggies. So this is definitely awesome to have something put in place where I can get even fresher veggies and fruits. This market is a" get it while it's hot". A name I give to places that basically means supplies will run out. They open 9 or 930 am to 12pm or 12 30. I couldn't really remember. I went Saturday and it was packed. I definitely stocked up on stuff for the Lil one. If anyone receives wic, medicaid, and or Foodstamps you may be eligible for a dollar voucher to purchase fruits and veggies only. There's a grant going on to get more people to consume more fruits and veggie. So definitely check them out!!! There is also , One dollar basil, mint, and or rosemary as well as eggs!!!!

Today was this Farmers Market's first day at its new location in the Upper 9th Ward, right in the front yard & parking lot of Holy Angels Convent on St. Claude.I noticed that the vendors were much smaller operations than at the Crescent City Farmers Market. I bought pecan milk from a young lady who presses the pecans by hand and bottles the milk in mason jars. Can't get much closer to the source than that! There were about 12 vendors set up, but there is room for twice as many. And with the market much busier at the new location, I think they'll have no problem filling those spots.

This market is UBER affordable but then that is the whole point. The market is meant to serve the 9th ward community and to bring affordable fresh goods to this food desert. So I LOVE supporting that endeavor and getting some quality veggies to boot. If you follow them on twitter, you can always know where they will be located and what they will have. I find this is key because that can change drastically from week to week. The staffers are also great. I was questioning some red okra that they had for sale and the staffer just pulled up on her phone some pictures from when she cooked the okra. She was right that they were good and tasty in spite the weird (to me) color.

This is a really great farmers market just a little bit past the Industrial Canal in the Lower 9th Ward. Just got home and had a lunch pretty much fully consisting of today's Sankofa purchases: fresh greens, sweet potatoes, olive bread, and king cake. Everything was great, and the king cake was out of this world (from Sugar's in the Bywater). Everyone from the vendors to the market-goers were all friendly and everyone was all around cheerful. Great way to spend a Saturday morning!

Went to this market last Saturday, and left wishing that it was a lot bigger. Compared to the Hollygrove Market, the French Market, and the Aycock Market, this place was great, with a variety of vendors and products.Unfortunately (and the only reason for the low score), the market had less than ten vendors. Thankfully, they did not overlap. We purchased some excellent produce at reasonable prices from one stand (tomatoes and zucchini), mushrooms from another, and, last but not least, a scotch bonnet plant from a small nursery booth. They also had an herb booth, a bakery, and a few others.Worth the trip, especially when you compare to produce from one of the local groceries. If this market takes off and more vendors join, the rating will definitely go up!

I went here last week to get some fruit. Managed to grab some apples, bananas, and pears. Unfortunately, after only one day, I cut into the apple to make apple slices for my daughter and they were rotted on the inside! Not just one, but 2 of the 3 that I purchased were rotten. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Back to Walmart, Rouses and Winn-Dixie I go.

Small + good quality items available = nice stop if you do the tour de markets on saturdaysI think this is an ok farmers market for New Orleans. I personally think the farmers markets in this area are really lacking. I like this one but I always have to go to another to get more produce. I tend to only get one or two things here. Its also important to note that it has moved from the church parking lot to the schools front yard a little farther down the road.

This Farmer's Market has the potential to be big. It is unfortunate then, that there were only about eight vendors there. Pricing was okay. Simply not enough variety.

Great stuff, friendly vendors. Seafood, fresh local produce, breads, sweets, plants, and some really good bbq to grab on your way out. Hope it gets bigger.

I went to the farmers market today. I wanted to like it. I wanted to love it. But with only four vendors, I felt sad. The vendors who were there were very nice. Hopefully, it was just an off day.
