Jimmy was nice but. We had said up front that we wanted to fish the rigs. His boat was too small and we had to stay inshore. We went out for 2 hours and got destroyed by mosquitoes (he had spray for gnats but not mosquitoes on board). He was more expensive than the other guide we used the day before (we had a phenomenal experience with the other guy, unfortunately he was already booked for today) and he was less prepared and his boat was smaller and older. We paid $200 for a boat ride and hundreds of mosquito bites. No offer for any kind of break from the $900 fee he charged for two people fishing (others were $750 for two anglers).

Went on a marsh fishing trip with my group of 4 with captain eric in July 2022. We had the best time catching speckled trout. The action never stopped that we didn't even get a chance to stop and eat our snacks !Half of us were complete beginners and didn't even know how to properly cast while the other half had some experience. We all had a great time and we're reeling in keepers. We caught about 71 trout. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime and will be unforgettable! Thank you captain eric for taking amazing care of our crew and showing us a great time!

I absolutely cannot speak highly enough of Salty Dog Charters! Honestly, our day trip out with Captain Markham Dickson is one of the best things I've ever done in New Orleans. (And you guys have been to New Orleans, right? So, like, you know how great everything is there, right?) Even if you're not necessarily looking to fish, which we weren't, they're happy to take you out for a day on the water that will be amazing! Though our trip was about something else (we were spreading ashes at sea), Captain Markham made sure we got to do some really fun stuff. We fed pelicans, saw some awesome wildlife (including some large fish, crabs, otters, and more), and did a bit of net fishing. We also saw some really cool spots, like small islands and a fishing cabin. If you're looking to fish, or just looking for a unique fun day out, you have to check out Salty Dog Charters! Trust me, it's awesome!

Limit of Redfish for six by 9am!! Beautiful cruise this morning through the bayous, sighting gators, shorebirds, pelicans and the sun rising over the coastal marsh. The ride would've been worth the trip alone. Stopped at his first honey hole and got limits of fish for everyone in the boat (including two first time fisherwomen). Markham loves to fish and holds his own with the best captains in the marsh, trip after trip. But more importantly, Markham loves people. If you have never fished in your life, or fish professional bass tournaments, you'll enjoy his company and his trip. Thanks for another great one Markham! We'll be back

Captain Markham is great. His laid-back personality was refreshing for a charter captain. He never once barked, used foul language, or was rude to our group. I want to come back and bring my family. I think his gentle touch and patience to teach would be perfect for less-experienced fishermen. Best part, he put us right on the fish and we caught em! He adjusted to our preference to catch more big reds. He has a good relationship with other captains and they work together to try to make sure everyone catches fish. I highly recommend!

Such a fun and eventful day on the water! Markham was not only super knowledgeable about the area, but very patient with 4 unskilled fisher woman lol. He was able to make these inexperienced girls feel like real fisherman, catching some of the biggest fish we'd ever seen! Not only was the fishing good, the company was awesome. Markham made us feel super comfortable from the very beginning, sharing stories, and making us laugh. For 4 very needy girls, he was very accommodating to all our requests, and him and Karen (our uber) went well out of their way to make sure or experience was the best it could be. Can't wait to come back to New Orleans and do it all over again some day! Definitely recommend Salty Dog charters for anyone and everyone looking for a good time and some good fishin.

Great fishing charter, captain Marcom knows all the good fishing spots! We caught so many big fish my hands were hurting from the fight they gave. Make sure to get your fishing license prior to going out, dress warm for the boat ride, the wind coming off the water can be a bit chilly and don't forget to bring sunscreen, drinks and snacks its a long day but so worth it!

Salty Dog Charters made it easy to go fishing, from helping us get to their dock right to eating the fish. Captain Sal put us on great fishing and we caught 6 different species in the brackish waters and had enough to cook that night and to take some home. Captain Sal was awesome on the boat, not only for his excellent guiding but also just to hang out with. They also helped us set up a catch and cook at Redfish Grill in the quarter, outstanding!!!! Thanks for a great trip! Ben M.
