Nostalgia Ultra!There was a time before the 99 and the 2000 and as that song was blared throughout the city of New Orleans, I find myself reminiscing, not on That Thang being backed up but on whenever I eat chocolate I'm subconsciously chasing the high this place had given me.I'm finding it hard not to talk about my childhood while I write this post. so I'll save that for the blog (fooddripp.com) a shameless plug. You will find the best representation of New Orleans' soul pre-Katrina right here in the heart of New Orleans East. My father and I called in a custom order of some of the best brownies ever. I pray I get to taste these again because for whatever reason an order of 12 plus a full-size sampler wasn't enough.This place holds a special place in my heart and I will always support this New Orleans, local business.ProTip: If you're a chocoholic, ask them about their "doberge cake" they even made me a chocolate doberge cake for my birthday one year, and my life has never been the same.

I don't even know where to begin, but let me just say YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. This small black owned bakery is one of the best in the city. Consistency is key, and they have exceeded this expectation. They made my wedding cake over 7 years ago and I have been a loyal supporter ever since. I recently needed a last minute bday cake for my hubby and they were able to accommodate my request with no issue. The cake was beautiful, fresh, moist and delicious.

The Pros:Their cakes taste great. I chose them based on my sister's recommendation that they are the best in Nola.The designs pay close attention to detail and are creative.Pricing is reasonable comparable to other cake spots I had to call to get a quote.Cons:They can kind of make you feel like they aren't that interested in your service.There were times where I felt more like a burden than a customer and that was at the first meeting.They are very popular and availability is limited. I scheduled about 3 months before the wedding and they already had other cakes to bake for that day.I would use them again. They were very accommodating during the cake tasting and worked with my budget.

There cakes were good twenty years ago but they are not very desirable now. The frosting is bland and the bakery needs a little work in appearance. I'd love to support them but their cakes are not as great. I ordered an almond cake and could not taste any almond flavor at all and it was tasteless. I'm sorry, but this is a thumbs down.

When reading reviews you should look at the very bottom as well, because somehow all their "bad reviews" are located there and I'm sure mine will be added soon enough.When my fiancé and I came in for our cake tasting appointment it was obvious there was a miscommunication between the employees about who booked our cake tasting, and it was most certainly taken out on us. Which they later apologized for and redeemed themselves. Which I should have known better because that was "red flag number one", but I brushed it aside like we all do. The only reason I gave them "two stars" is because their cakes are delicious, which is very sad because their employees and customer service are unprofessional and rude. When you email the Royal Cakery for any of your cake needs, it sends it to one email, and any employee can reply. Which later creates so much confusion with so many people replying, and a lot of "I don't know who I talked to." Trust me, it's a complete mess. We were going back and forth in pricing and sending pictures like the normal wedding cake process goes, and we were about to send the contract when one morning I get an email (keep in mind this was all in an email). "Another bride came in and booked a huge order on your same date, sorry we won't be able to make your cakes. Best wishes."I kid you not, ALL IN AN EMAIL. Of course I called and they had the nerve to tell me "Mam this is the wedding industry, first come, first served." After I already paid for a cake tasting, which is part of the down payment to secure your date. Please, please do yourself a favor and do not waste your time and money on service like this, especially from "Royal Cakery." This is a beautiful time and you are already spending so much money, spend it on the good ones. My fiancé and I had another cake tasting today and it was absolutely amazing, the cake and customer service was everything I hoped it would be and should be. I am proud to say Gambino's Bakery will be doing our wedding cakes. Ask for Kevin, he is great!

I was truly happy with my friend's sheet cake! It was not only beautifully decorated, but extremely fresh and delicious. This was a cake for his retirement from working 30 years! The buttercream icing was so tasty. It had to have been the best icing that I've ever tasted.

We went with them for our wedding cake. Flavors were great and right but the cake wasn't even supposed to be white or heavily iced. It look NOTHING like the photo references discussed or sent. Also, it was an hour late to the venue during which we were unable to contact anyone via email or phone. For the price paid, which was about double from other local bakeries, we expected it to be correct. I reached out a few days after the wedding and still, 7 months later have not heard hide nor hair from anyone at the bakery.

The quality of the cake was outstanding, guest asked for a second slice and some took a piece home. The care and professionalism by the owner and her staff was impressive. Our themed cake was detailed , it's obvious they love what they do. Thank you for making our party a success.

This bakery has one of the BEST tasting cakes I've ever had!!! Stellar customer service and response time from start to finish. The guests raved about how fabulous the design was and how great the cake tasted. Royal Cakery knocked it out the park with this one and helped to make my daughter's baby shower a great success. I'm so glad to have chosen such a great establishment!. Thank you, Royal Cakery for everything!

Everything was great with them! It was easy to schedule a consultation. You will try a lot of cake during it but it is helpful because they will help you mix & match the things you like. We ended up with a three tier wedding cake with beautiful frosting in our wedding colors. We ended up with more cake than we needed due to no shows but everyone loved the cake! Lots of our guests admitted to having 2-4 slices. It was that good. We can't wait for our anniversary when we get to have our top tier! Definitely recommend them for the ease of communication and truly delicious cakes that aren't dry or taste like pure sugar.
