This incredibly beautiful and quirky guest house is not at all closed! It is open for business. It lies at the quiet end of the French Quarter close to several exceptional restaurants, neighborhood bars and a delightful sandwich shop! The innkeeper, cat, and the Director, Lynne, are exceptionally welcoming and will make you feel like family instantly. Nestled in a residential neighborhood, while sitting on the front steps, you will feel like a resident! Each room has its own theme. Mardi Gras, blues, Gothic, the suite, the garden room and my favorite the bank! Several of the rooms are interconnecting for large parties. I have been to the French quarter14 times in the past nine years. When I finally found Royal Barracks Guest House in September 2020 I rebooked immediately for February and July and will be returning in October 2021!

We really loved this place. So unique with tons of flavor and charm. Each room is different. We stayed in the Peacock room and our friends were next door in the Jazz room. Both were cool. There's a cute private courtyard and use of washer and dryer which was helpful. So perfectly conveniently located walking distance to all the action on Bourbon yet quiet and private. We are planning on trying out every room at one point or another on our return trips to New Orleans. Definitely recommend.

My boyfriend and I LOVED this place! We were only in town for a quick weekend and one thing we wish is that we had more time not only in The Big Easy, but more time to hang at the RBGH. The woman who runs the place and checked us in was super friendly, helpful with suggestions and incredibly accommodating. Our flight didn't leave until late Sunday evening and she allowed us all the time we needed to stay in the room, instead of having us check out at 11am. The courtyard is so quaint and a wonderful reprieve from the insanity that is Bourbon Street. We walked everywhere. Even downtown. If you don't live in the south like us, prepare for the heat! We will definitely stay again next time we're in NOLA! Thank you!

We first visited New Orleans in 2013. It was our honeymoon, so I wanted to find an interesting place to stay with local flavor. I found RBGH online. Each room was designed by a local artist. Kelly, the innkeeper, is awesome. It's now 2019 and we've been to NOLA 7 more times since our first visit, and we've stayed at RBGH EVERY time. It's interesting, in a great, quiet, residential location, and every easy to walk everywhere, including Bourbon, Frenchman's, etc. Highly recommend.

Very eclectic place to stay. We stayed in the blue room which has a music theme to it. The lady at the front desk was extremely charming and greeted us with a glass of wine the moment we arrived. Chatted with the local neighbors and they were very pleasant as well. The location is geographically desirable and the prices were good as we were right in the quarter. The only drawback was the room smelled a little musty but then again the place is over 150 years old. Definitely will be coming back when staying in NOLA.

Very friendly host and *great* location, but unfortunately, our place wasn't the cleanest. (The host apologized profusely; if she could (would?) hire a cleaning company, this problem would be easily remedied.) I'd still recommend staying here with that only caveat, because the location and price are crazy hard to beat if you just want to walk around the French Quarter.

We quite enjoyed our stay and the Gothic room is just lovely. We were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do, but in a quiet enough area that when we wanted to come back and rest there was no raucous crowd to worry about. I can't sing praises high enough for Kelly (the innkeeper). She's full of great suggestions for places to go and things to see that are outside the norm.

You're in the French Quarter, in a safe and great location at this price point. Biggest thing right there. My wife and I stayed in the Bunk Room which does indeed include a bunk bed. We booked really late for Memorial day weekend so I took what we could get. The room was pretty small with a cozy back patio for hanging out. It has a washer and dryer as well which is a nice added benefit. Kelly and her pup Sugah were very welcoming and even gave us wine. We ended up sitting on the front stoop drinking and hanging out for a while. Now the reason for three stars: 1) Water pressure is awful. Temperature fluctuates a lot as well. 2) Did I mention water pressure? 3) Internet only works in the front part of the building, not in the rooms. There are some other nit picky things but bottom line is it was a clean, safe place to sleep in the French Quarter at a very reasonable rate. Would absolutely stay again.

So annoying that the internet wasn't able to support the TV when back in the room. No place to sit except on the bed, hand soap dispenser watered down, could hardly get real soap out of it. Walk way to get to the room way too narrow along with doorway to get into room was terrible if you weigh more than 100 pounds. Walls too thin as we could hear our neighbors in the other room in the middle of the night. On a positive note the bed was comfy, cute little spot but not for the price. Close to many eateries and places to listen to music, experience the culture. Management answered quickly yet never able to resolve the internet issue and not being able to watch TV when relaxing was disappointing.

Kelly is welcoming, sweet and helpful. If you want that authentic New Orleans feel without being right in the middle of the craziness, this place is great. It's walking distance from the French market but honestly, we either walked everywhere or took pretty cheap Lyft Rides. We will definitely be back.
