Made a trip to the Audubon Zoo on 3/30/24 at 12:00 and stopped at the Roman candy cart. There was a family standing in line and I asked if they had ordered already or were waiting in line. The family replied that they were waiting. As I approached the window, the guy making the taffy yells out the window that "EVERYONE IS IN LINE!" Apparently the lady taking orders and money can't take an order until the taffy master says so. The sign on the window says strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. I ordered strawberry and chocolate. As the lady is nicely explaining that they only have chocolate, taffy master yells out the window that he only has chocolate and it's one flavor at a time. I ask when they might have another flavor and Mr personality screams that he doesn't know. He's just too busy to say. The lady taking orders was super nice. The guy making the taffy is a jerk and should not be in a service job.

Fantastic New Orleans tradition. He doesn't have a set spot but in the afternoons on weekdays he can usually be found along St. Charles Street between Audubon Park and Jefferson Avenue. The Taffy is different than salt water or laffy Taffy. Better in my opinion!Flavors come in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

I was wondering how the Roman Candy Man had less then 5 stars and then I realized that the FTR has a fundamental misunderstanding of how he works. First, ignore the address and phone number listed. I'm not sure what that's about.2nd, stalk the cart via it's twitter feed: https://twitter.com/RomanCandy 3rd, if the mule is working then be prepared to find the cart since the mule wanders where he (she?) likes.4th, enjoy some tasty old school taffy and watch out for your fillings.5th, if they are selling cotton candy, buy some. It is delicious and freshly made.

Roman Candy is a New Orleans Tradition. Until I read Jen's review, I didn't know they still had a mobile cart. I had only ever seen them at the zoo.It seems like every time I saw the cart at the Zoo, I had to get a stick of chocolate. I would then proceed to walk around the monkey area trying to prevent the candy from sticking too my teeth, mouth and esophagus. If you've never had a piece you know that is nearly impossible.Despite the extreme stickiness, the candy is very good. I guess it would be considered a type of taffy, but I will never call it anything but Roman Candy.

Who doesn't love Roman Candy? For those of you who have no idea what it is, it's basically taffy. It is SO good. If you can get to it when it's still warm, then you will be in heaven. Every New Orleans kid grew up on the stuff. I didn't know they had a mobile cart and the only time I ever had it was at the zoo. I remember I used to get my parents to buy me a bunch so that I could take some home and have it later. Amazing.

I wanted to give a zero star but you it's not allowed. Now I know why there are no reviews. Don't even try to find him on Constance Street. I think that's his home.I called 3 times and finally spoke to the owner and was told that he would be on St. Charles between State and Jefferson about 3:30 pm. I was on the street waiting between 3:15 and 4:00 and not one sighting of the man or the horse. I was very disappointed after hearing all the good things about the candy. He has lost 4 customers since there were 4 of looking for him and his candy.

Roman candy has been a fixture of New Orleans and a fond memory of many a local child. I grew up mostly getting this taffy-like Nola creation at Audubon Zoo where there is a stationary cart. Living out in Metairie I rarely saw the mobile cart on the street, pretty much only during Mardi Gras. While the Zoo card is stuck in one spot this cart is usually drawn by a mule which often wanders wherever it wants to go. However, that delicious, sticky candy is still the same. Flavors come in the classic trio of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. My favorite is the vanilla, hands down, although the chocolate is good as well.

Got some candy from here, It is so hard that my teeth hurt attempting to take a bite. I would not recommend this to anyone. This was very disappointing because it looked so delicious.

Mcguires Irish Pub Pensacola, FL - Have been eating here for the last 30 years! Always a fan with today being just extra delicious! Erica our server was awesome - was able to share a story of "old" McGuires for her enjoyment. If you haven't been take it from a local there is no better place. Family and date friendly!
