When this Grocery Store was owned by Matherne's it was SO MUCH BETTER!!! Specifically, the employees were always smiling, friendly and welcoming! I loved the place and didn't mind paying a little more. Now the place is full of Walmart caliber staff... It's sad to experience.. Robert's Mgmt should send in secret shoppers... to get a taste of their employees total lack of customer service skills...This grocery store used to be my go to place, now it's only in an emergency.

My husband brought home boiled crawfish and shrimp from Robert's. They were both so overcooked that they were inedible. The crawfish was nothing but mush, and there were more heads in his order than actual crawfish. My shrimp were so overcooked they were impossible to peel and were like chewing rubber. Overpriced, and overcooked. We won't buy them again, but maybe the person who does their seafood boils will get better instruction. Lots of people are going to be angry about throwing their money away.

So the renovation is coming along nicely at last. FINALLY! And I know they are just as excited! I have to tell you, when we moved here from uptown in New Orleans I was super bummed to be giving up access to Roberts. We LIVED in their prepared foods section while working 60/80 hr weeks. One plate could feed our family of three when time and cash were short. Now, here they are, overpriced everything right around the corner. The yogurt parfaits, the berry LaCroix, the fresh cookies and brownies. The doberge cake on order for special events. The Friday catfish and the best sides. All the artisanal cheeses, meats, crackers... the beverages. The honeycrisp apples. The blueberry and morning glory muffins. Hummus for days and beautiful produce. All the odds and ends you could want for a special treat. We're regulars and always will be! Congrats on the progress and shout-out to Charles in the deli for keeping us fed!

New grocery store alert!! This is so close to my neighborhood, so it's a quick drive over for me. The design is modern, lighting is cool and calm and customer service was stellar! So, I did not go during peak times, which was nice because the store was not busy. I shop often at Fresh Market & Whole Foods. Their prices (especially for hot, prepared foods is a lot less). You can get a whole, cooked chicken for $4.99, pizza by-the-slice for $0.99 (a whole for $7.99) and more goodies. They had brisket that was not cut into yet, so I requested for the more leaner cuts and got some super lean cuts of it... sooo good and sooo lean! It was Mardi Gras day, so I bought a king cake (served 10-15 ppl) for $14.99! They even had boiled crawfish that they sold in bags. I bought a 3.5 lbs bag for under $11 and it tasted great! My family and I don't like to overindulge in food much and we buy a lot of fresh produce weekly. My only complaint about this store is the produce is lacking, especially in green, organic produce. I was hoping this would be an alternative grocery store for me, but I will still need to make stops at Fresh Market or Whole Foods for my organic, leafy greens and berries. I don't purchase a lot of snack foods or boxed foods with a ton of crap ingredients, so I did not visit the other aisles that were filled with these items. I generally keep to the fresh items, frozen vegetables and (hot) prepared foods section. There is a cafe seating area up front, if you want to eat any of the prepared foods you bought or sips some coffee. Parking is plentiful and the store is well organized. This has made my list of go-to stores now. It's located in the plaza on the corner of Highland & Kenilworth (by Superior Grill). Happy shopping!

Roberts Fresh Market has turned into my go-to lunch and salad bar destination. They have a great selection of fresh salad ingredients as well as a hot bar with pastas, veggies and soup. They also have really good pizza for 1.00 a slice! You can pick up grad and go entrees and snack items like house made pimento and cheese, queso, spinach dip and other accoutrements such as tartar sauce and pasta salads in addition to hot boiled shrimp and crawfish. There's an in house CC"s if you need a caffeine boost while pursuing the expansive selection of Louisiana made goods from Monjuni's pasta sauces to of the most extensive selections of Louisiana coffees. From Community Coffee to Parish has River Road you won't find a larger selection anywhere. The other reason I Robert's besides the selection is the staff! Everyone is beyond friendly and helpful it's like your neighborhood grocery no matter where you came from!

At a normal grocery store, a typical spaghetti dinner shopping run costs about $6. At Robert's, it costs $467.32. Though your wallet may be hurting, you get to rest easy in the knowledge that you are now straight up upper class. At Robert's, you grind your own peanut butter. You choose from a fabulous selection of local beers and wines. You buy la Croix and lean ground beef and now you probably have a yoga class to get to. You can get organic brussel sprouts and gourmet cheese to serve at your upcoming book club meeting. Your normal ole spaghetti dinner is now a 5 course meal featuring European style bread baked in store (with a locally sourced organic olive oil for dipping!) and a carefully selected assorted pastry tray (German chocolate brownies!)The construction of Robert's is coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to pretending I know things about wine while I shop here!

I was just getting fond of this store when a lady in the deli was super rude. Today, I took a chance and went back. A cashier ( who had apparently not risen through the bagging ranks) asked me if I wanted a bag for my crawfish which were in a large styrofoam clam shell. I said if he didn't mind, I would. He proceeded to put it into the bag sideways and all of the juice went to the bottom of the bag. He just kept going. I said I didn't want it and to take it off my bill. The point of the bag was to double protect my car from spillage. You just can't teach common sense. There used to be a great cashier who was so nice. Sadly, I am done.
