If you have some time to kill and don't want to drink all day, the Riverwalk Outlets is a good option for shopping and grabbing a snack. It also serves as a Cruise Port so it may get busy at times. There are lots of different shops and a pretty nice Nordstrom Rack at the South end of the structure. There's also a food court with some decent options (Raising Cane's) and various stores throughout. If you're from out of town, you probably have similar stores closer to you, so I'd recommend visiting many of the shops throughout the town. This option works if the weather isn't so great or if you don't like smelling pee in the streets of the French Quarter.

This is a really nice play area located by the Julia St. entrance and right before the food court.I like that the entire play area is surrounded by a 3 foot, padded wall, with only 1 entrance/exit.The floor is made of that squishy, rubber material that is easy on the children if they should fall. The theme in here is sea creatures with a cool wooden looking paddle boat. There is also a bench that goes surrounds the interior of the play area. This was nice to put my backpack on while I had fun with my little one. This is a really great place to come and let your children get their wiggles out and also if its raining outside.Bathrooms - Yes, they are really close by and they have changing tables. The food court is really close by if you need a meal or a snack.

There's really not much to this little area -- just a big carpeted arena lined with padded seating and some giant sea-themed animals that kids can clamber around -- but it was surprisingly effective at letting our toddler tire himself out, with just enough room and variety to keep him entertained. It helped that there were lots of other kids there, and that it's in the middle of a loud mall so nobody really cared if he was loud. Plus, it's in an area of downtown New Orleans that was otherwise desolate for playgrounds, which made it a lifesaver.

The play ground is located at the Julia Street entrance/exit which is next door to The Convention Center. To the left is The Food Court and Restrooms. An excellent addition to the space. The playground theme is undeniably The Swamp. There is a Pirogue with dock, a crawfish, crab, turtle, bald cypress, two alligators, pelican, catfish and a frog to climb on-over and thru. The floor is cushy carpet and the climbable critters are a soft plastic. Seating for parents encamp the entire playground and provide an excellent 360* view. In addition, there are interactive puzzles at various sections on the wall: Mix-Match cards, mazes, trick mirror.

Was a fun little spot for my 2 yr old. 4 stars because it was a bit underwhelming because we usually go to the one at lakeside mall. But it was clean and my son was entertained for 20 min so win win.

You have got to find kid activites while here and this area came right on time for me to tire my neice and nephew out. We did the indoor pool at the hotel enough but definitely wanted to find them some things they could enjoy. It was close to the hotel and the convention center. Ideal location!
