Excellent!My wife and I got the tasting menu and it was fantastic. There were several fantastic bites but the A5 wagyu, spoon bread, and the cold oyster Rockefeller were standouts.The service was good.I had a duck fat old fashioned that was interesting. You kinda gotta like duck fat but if you do its worth the price.

After looking at reviews and craving a fine dining experience in New Orleans creole style) we decided to check out restaurant August. A beautifully appointed restaurant, in historic building that dates back to the early 1800s, it is elegant and includes a cozy bar for a drink before or after any meal.This is a reservation recommended location, although we were fortunate enough to get in fairly easily during a quiet time, early in the week, and early in the evening. We were pampered and made exceptionally welcome by the highly trained staff.Opened in the early 2000s, the restaurant has multiple recognitions by the James Beard organization and others in the food service world. The Executive Chef has changed hands and is now led by Corey Thomas, of the famous Commanders Palace and Shaya which received recognition by the James Beard organization during Chef Thomas tenure as sous chef.The menu offers à la cart options, as well as a chefs tasting menu that can be decided at the last minute if you are up for the challenge! Wine pairings are also available should you choose. We enjoyed an absolutely phenomenal tasting menu with wine pairings and could not have been happier!This restaurant team is laser focused on outstanding food, over the top service, and just an overall wonderful customer experience. Would not be surprised to see three stars at this location once the Michelin man finally comes to town.This can be a pricey endeavor, but definitely worth the treat!

I came here for my birthday dinner and we were all blown away! Firstly, the ambiance is high end but very cozy with brick exposed walls. They decorate the place with fresh florals, and the wait staff is impeccable. Next, the food was absolutely spectacular. We were so blown away by our appetizers and entrees that we ended up ordering every item on the dessert menu. I don't even have a favorite menu item because everything equally blew me away. The menu is rotating, so it is a different dining experience every time you come here which I appreciate! August has become my favorite fine dining restaurant in New Orleans, and I will absolutely come back!

Amazing dining experience. Great service, beautiful restaurant, I'm excited about going back! I ordered the tasting menu that starts with an amuse bouche and then goes through several seafood and meat options. I really enjoyed every single item on the menu and it would be hard to pick a favorite. It does come at a price, and there's an option for a wine pairing but I guarantee that whatever you choose you can't go wrong

I came to New Orleans this past December for two reasons, to see how the city celebrates the holidays, and to celebrate a birthday. For her birthday dinner, I chose August to go to. I'm glad I did. This place was upscale from head to toe. If the Michelin guide was in town, this place would at least get recommended. Starting with how beautiful the place is. This corner space in a large building had the internal décor of a fancy house. Complete with a giant staircase in the middle of the dining room, leading up to a mystery second floor. Elegant chandeliers and servers that re-folded your napkins for you when you used the restroom were the cherry on top of this very nice experience. So we looked at their tasting menu they offer, but two things held us back. Number one being that the tasting menu is fixed, doesn't offer either-or options, so we'd be both eating the exact same meal, no opportunity to share. Also, they were serving turtle soup at the time. I don't have anything against the very traditional dish. It's just not for us. So we went ala carte!I don't want this to get too wordy, so let's get through the entrée highlights. I had the (red snapper Pontchartrain) shrimp, lump crabmeat, wild mushrooms, sauce béarnaise. I also got to try the (dry-aged duck breast) morel mushrooms, blackberries, foie mousse. The duck was So good. Huge cuts of duck presented to you cooked side up, so the cook Has to be good on it, no excuses. And the cook was perfect. Lushous, tender duck, perfectly cooked mushrooms, and a nice, deep blackberry sauce really made this dish one of the better duck dishes I've had. Impressive. But my dish, the snapper, was king. I had many fish fished out of Lake Pontchartrain on this trip, but this night have been the best. Flakey, delicate, and topped with three of the plumpest shrimp you might ever see in your life. Mix in it with the sauce, and this dish will stick in my mind for a while. We had a couple of desserts that don't seem to be offered right now, but that's ok. I like seasonality of menus. But the desserts were good, also elegant, fun. I had a freaking pavlova. What is this, the British Baking Show? It was so good. Get the desserts here. Get two. Overall, this was the perfect birthday restaurant. Keep in mind, you'll be surrounded by people in like, blazers and stuff, but don't be intimidated. The wait staff is pretty chill, and so was the food. Come here.

While in NOLA, my boyfriend and I went here for a nice date night. I couldn't have asked for a better place! The service was absolutely amazing and the food was even better. How they made those sour cream corn muffins is truly a mystery....so yummy! I can't wait to go back on our next visit!

We came here for Friday lunch because they didn't have any openings for dinner. We had the pre fix menu. We started with the blue fin tuna and the gnocchi blue and black and they were both good. We got the RED SNAPPER BOUILLABAISSE and TOURNEDOS AU POIVRE (steak) and we liked the red snapper better. We ended with the pear and the donut and liked the donut more. Our service was fine. All and all it was a good experience but I did think for all the hype it fell a little short.

We received two separate recommendations from people living in New Orleans that said we needed to try August.It did not disappoint.We also happen to be there for restaurant week, so of course, we tried the restaurant week menu.Everything was amazing. Very creative presentation, delicious food, and amazing flavor combinationsFrom the compressed cantaloupe wrapped in serrano ham to the stripped sea bass, everything was amazing.The atmosphere is classy and perfect for a date night.The staff is very courtesy and informative.If you're visiting, this is a place you should stop if you want a classy dining experience just outside the French Quarter

Pros:I came here for my birthday dinner, and it was such an awesome experience. The restaurant was beautiful! It felt like a mansion with different rooms, giant windows, and a mystery upstairs that I wasn't to go up. Lol.Service was perfect. I like when service staff makes me feel like royalty, especially on my birthday. Food was killer. Perfectly cooked seafood, probably the best duck dish I've ever had, and lovely desserts, too.Cons:I like that they had a tasting menu, but I didn't like that it had no options. It was only one menu with no 'this or that' options. I think that needs to be changed for nowadays. Tips:Get any seafood they have. And get desserts. It's all good!
