Something about getting a poboy from the back of a grocery store that makes it taste better, more authentic....cheaper!Well, this little mom and pop store beside the highway in Mid-city is about as authentic as it comes, but not for poboys, for Cuban food. I can say with confidence that they do the best Cuban sandwich in NOLA. And it costs less than $5. They are super fast. Expect to be in and out in 5 minutes every time. Sin falta. Fastest Cuban granny this side of the Florida straits! They also do a first rate hot lunch: beans and rice, yuca with mojo, roast pork, and flan. Ropa vieja. Anything Cuban, they'll do it. Pre-Katrina it was a full scale operation, but the grandma who forms the foundation for the enterprise now just does food to go at the back of the grocery store. My wife is Cuban, and let me tell you that this place is the real deal...better than the real deal because the family who runs it came over just after the revolution and combines all they know about their country's pre-Castro cuisine with New Orleans knack for kick it up a notch flavor. But loyal to the wonderfulness of their culture, they don't ruin the original, which is even rarer. Instead they improve upon it, but with finesse. Roast pork, ham, swiss, pickle and mustard, perfectly pressed together with a Bustelo coffee and plantain chips? Look no further as you have hit gold, found paradise, located the source of eternal bliss cubano at the Regla store! I am a regular here. These guys are my small business heroes. A hidden treasure in quality and value. Give them some business and feel good about it both for you and for them. In my opinion, they could easily charge more, but do not. I am addicted to these things now, so I hope they keep everything just the way it is. A lo maximo!

Best Cuban sandwich and the only Cuban sandwich I have ever tried. I give them a 5 out of 5 for corner store bodegas across the world! I'm from Dallas and needed a quick fix for some grub. Luckily this place is across the street literally, I'm eating my sandwich and can see the store from my place! I'll be back to see these guys my next time around for sure and don't forget to thank them for the hospitality!

Great little neighborhood corner store with good food. We always order the Cuban special. It's delicious & makes our tummies happy. It's a no frills sorta joint but the people inside are always nice & the food is always good. Definitely worth supporting a good local store

I'm not sure where the food photos for this place came from but it's nothing like the real thing. The sandwich had literally one slice of ham and one slice of pork. Bread was fine. I'd get the "Cuban special" over the regular Cuban because the addition of chorizo makes this sandwich much more substantial. Guava pastry is nice but I can't speak to it's authenticity. I might go back and try a daily special because the owner talked those up. They do carry some nice Latin-grocery items such as Honduran crema, plantain chips, and some spices too.

I order from this place all the time. I work in a busy salon in Midcity. We have to order food at least twice a week. My usual routine is I pick up my food and then eat at work. Everytime my Cuban sandwich is still warm and toasted perfectly. You can really tell it's fresh. I hate getting food that has been sitting under a lamp for obvious reasons. Also their prices are great! I don't mind paying for quality but here you get quality and they're reasonably priced. I would recommend yall try them. Favorite thing to order:beans w rice d a cuban sandwich.

It's a really good, inexpensive Cuban sandwich. It's not overstuffed, but it isn't skimpy either. For 5 bucks it's tough to beat. Service is friendly and quick. The store has a couple of small tables, but it's pretty tight in there. I'd take my food to go

I live nearby. I go there often. The sandwiches are amazing, but if you don't ask about the plate lunches you will regret it FOREVER.

these people are not upstanding members of the community. They have a gross lack of understanding, compassion, and indifference to their customers and the neighborhood they operate in. furthermore, everything in the store is dusty, and they sell old eggs.
