Rainbow Store

This is a national chain but it's a great place to find costume pieces or super trendy items. The clothes are pretty poorly made. But that goes with the extreme low price point. The store is pretty torn up so be prepared to dig. But I did find a red skirt for my carnival costume so it's all good. The parking lot can be a bit of a disaster if there is an event at the Shamrock which is in the same strip mall. On the other hand, I got to see a bunch of really random costumes this afternoon and for once the dudes were dressed more skimpily than the girls.

I made two trips to this location at the corner of Carrollton and Tulane in the last two days. The staff was friendly. Like, awesome friendly. They had a great report with their regulars--even with the FedEx delivery guy! When I was at the check out counter for my first transaction, the manager noticed that I had my eye on the fragrances. In a totally non-pushy way, she asked if I saw the sale. I was psyched about catching a deal. And when I misread the pricing, the manager explained the details in a kind tone.The racks were tidy and it was easy to find my size. I returned the next day to exchange a sundress for some shorts I had my eye on the previous day. The clerks were professional and helpful, and our transaction went well. You have to love Rainbow because they have all kinds of inexpensive outfits. But the people employed at this location will keep me coming back far into the future!

Cheap, trendy clothes. Basic tank tops are typically $3 with basics going up from there. In addition to on trend clothing They offer undergarments, swimsuits, lingerie,outerwear, shoes, perfume and accessories. Sections also for children and plus size. I love that a dress is typically $15 or less but the quality is poor and the largest size in women's is a 12. Plus size starts at 14 but not all the same looks are offered. Dressing room limit is three and the small poorly lit room is always dirty. Not to mention the mirror is so small, one would think that they may have accidentally stepped foot into Thumbelina's house! Did I mention it's hung only a few inches off the floor meaning if you are over 4'5" tall all you'll be able to see is how wide your hips are and how much weight you've been successfully camouflaging!Good in a pinch, or if in desperate need of something new without breaking the bank.
