OMG! The very best soap de res just like my mom would make it. Also the very best Pupuseria in the whole area.....It is off the beaten path but definitely worth the ride. The service is good and I called early to preorder and it was right on time. The place is small basic hole in the wall but the food is amazing every time I visit New Orleans.

In my quest to find a good mexican Restaurant I decided to stop and give this place a try. When I walked in I noticed that one of the employees was doing food prep in the dining area. She looked up at me and had a deer in the headlights look on her face. She slowly got up and walk over behind the counter and then washed her hands. Then she slowly walked over to me and took my order. She didn't even say,"I will be with you in a moment". Not very friendly.I ordered the chile relleno combo platter. It came with rice, beans, tortilla and the chile relleno. I will admit the food was pretty good though. Especially the refried beans. This place is not that great for dining in. It is more geared for takeout. I noticed they also sold beer here, but I really wasn't interested. I might have given this place a 3 star review but the whole food prep in the dining area kinda creep me out. I mean seriously I have never seen a restaurant do that before. In short this place this place has good food but not very good customer service.

Tucked behind the abysmal Los Tres Amigos, is a little family run pupuseria. The girly felt like some Huevo Rancheros (Which is odd since she doesn't like beans and rice or poached eggs).I ordered some pupusas mixed (pork cheese and beans). Before we ordered, the lovely girl waiting tables brought us the normal chips and salsa...but these weren't normal. The chips tasted home made and the salsa had no cilantro in it. BOTH things make me happy since cilantro tastes like soap to me.They roast their chilis and make it in house and it's smoky, a little warming and very tasty. She brought us out more salsa when we ran out, no charge. On to the food.My pupusas didn't look like much when she brought them out. Two pancake like items (In case you don't know what a pupuas is) and a cup of shredded cabbage and some more salsa.I slopped the cabbage and salsa on top and went to town. SO good. The flavors were great and the cabbage gave it a great crunch and texture. The salsa was different than the earlier salsa and matched really well. And while I was envious of the food on the girly's plate, by the time I got through my pupusas, I was full. NOT knowing that would happen, I had ordered a third one. By the time it got to the table, I was pretty full. The girly's plate was LARGE. A big mound of rice and beans that were more like cuban styled beans and rice and not the refried mush and slumpy rice you normally get in Mexican restaurants. The poached eggs, she put on top of the rice and broke open, letting the rich yolk drizzle down the sides (Did I mention she doesn't like yolks usually either?). She topped that with the creme (like sour cream) and then her salsa. She devoured it all. Plus some darned tasty plantains. In a city where it's so hard to find good Latin foods, this not only shines, but it's inexpensive as all heck. GOTryPay me a finder's fee. :)

Not good when you get your order and open your Pupusa and it's not the one you ordered. I called the waitress back to the table and told her I wanted my Pupusa mixed not just cheese, she apologized and took the plate to the side, and this whole time I'm watching her take the pupusa I digged in and brought it to the next table. I immediately got up and told her Nevermind I didn't want the food. I also told the people at the other table that the order they had I returned. They weren't too happy either..

We were given no greeting when entering and had to get our own menus. The mother and daughter were more concerned about her boyfriend's Halloween costume than waiting on us. My husband asked for Barqs root beer twice and he got a diet Coke. We had to wait awhile for our food. They do not give you chips and salsa and there was no sour cream given either. Our steak was low grade for the fajitas and it was tough. We're done with this place, as I can tell they cater more to the Hispanic crowd.

My wife, children and I love to eat here. I'm on a quest to try everything they offer. I've yet to find something I didn't like. Food is always fresh and flavorful. Service is good as well. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
