I love finding spots where the locals go when traveling; this did not disappoint! I love all the YELP reviews that pointed us this way! They don't have extensive menus, but what they have hits on a whole new level. I was fortunate enough to get the last serving of Pork Roast and gravy; DAUYM yall have to get this when you stop in. It was so tender and flavorful. Sometimes places add gravy to mask something, but this enhances the protein. Now, I am NOT a fan of 95% of potato salads; they are heavy, mostly have a mustard base, and are mushy. My friends, I would come here JUST for the potato salad. It tasted like mashed potatoes, and potato salad had a baby. We ordered a second round because my kid ate most of mine.It is a counter service, and the girls that took our order recommended the potato salad, gave great recommendations, and the cook or owner told me about the Pork roast. It is off the main drive but super easy to get to; know, it is at the far end of the strip mall. It was quiet, with a few families eating.Overall, my YELP friends, next time you are on your way to NOLA, stop by and grab yourself some Pot & Paddle!!

You best be stopping in here if you are in town. By far the best service, and best food I have had since being in Louisiana. The family atmosphere here was great, not knowing what to order, the staff helped this Yankee figure out what would be best. This meal had Pastalaya, Jambalaya, and Gumbo. Simply superbI absolutely love how this place is family, or close enough to family ran. I WILL be back

Came here pre-covid and although I don't remember what they served, I knew I liked it and wanted to go back the next time we were in Gonzalez. I had to use google maps to see what the place was. I knew it was near the outlets and close to the hotel we stayed at. I saw that it was pot and paddle, but I couldn't believe I wanted jambalaya!?! Me?! I was going to pass it up but we were driving back to Austin and I needed to use the restroom so we ended up stopping. I'm glad we did. We ordered a plate of food to share and I was skeptical of why in the world I kept a mental note all these years to come back here. I tasted their jambalaya and remembered right away why I wanted to come back here. It's kinda like fried rice with a southern twist? We also got their gumbo, green beans and potato salad. I pretty much inhaled the potato salad bc it was that good. Their banana pudding was just ehhh. I happened to have graham crackers and bananas in the car so I ended up mixing those in to jazz it up. This was my kids' first time in Louisiana and they loved the food here. We ended up getting a whole plate of jambalaya/pastalaya to go, along with a large container of gumbo for the road that they ended up eating in the car as soon as we got on the freeway! The place is clean, large, and quick with getting your food out to you. Def will be back.

This place had great flavor, fast friendly service and was recommended by a local. I ordered the jambalaya meal. It came with a large portion of chicken and sausage jambalaya, a chicken gumbo, a roll plus two sides which I chose salad and red beans. I also ordered iced tea and they had 3 varieties of teas you get self service. I ordered the bread pudding which was sweet and had a lot vanilla. The whole meal was reasonably priced and delicious. Highly recommended.

Service was nice and punctual, food came out quick. The place was clean. It was all fresh and prices are great. The pastalaya was okay, the red beans and rice are just that, beans. And rice. No meat, no sausage, no seasoning. The gumbo looked decent, smelled like an ingredient in it was burnt and tasted like it had a hint of char too, on top of being pretty bad aside from that. I had high hopes for this place, but it wasn't anything I'd want to eat again.

This little place has some really good jambalaya. The other thing is they PACK your plate so you should definitely be full when you leave.

Alright so I know I said that The Jambalaya Shoppe had the best chicken and sausage jambalaya that I've ever had but honestly, Pot & Paddle has taken the cake. I came in for lunch and saw that they had all kinds of daily specials one of which was the chicken and sausage jambalaya with my choice of two sides. Naturally I chose macaroni and cheese and green beans. The jambalaya was FANTASTIC! The chicken was so moist and kind of spicy which I enjoyed. The sausage was my favorite part and it paired so well with the dirty rice. The macaroni and cheese was homemade and creamy, hot and tasty. The green beans were just your average but I was surprised to find that they were seasoned well with salt and pepper because most restaurants leave them bland. I dined in and they had the news on which was nice and the staff was super friendly and helpful. My food was out to me in approximately 5 minutes and was piping hot!

I've had pot and paddle in Denham Springs before. It is good but I wouldn't rank among the top. The gumbo is ok but the flavor is a little off. I usually like a darker roux similar to the one at the jambalaya shoppe but it was good enough to meet my cravings. I got the meal deal with jambalaya. It was mostly rice and barely any chicken and sausage in the whole big portion of it. Wasn't a big fan of that. I also got the bread pudding which was a no go. A little disappointed as it really had no flavor. I would skip that on my next visit. Inside is big and the service was pretty quick. There was a little bit of a line only because the person in front was still deciding but once he got to the rest of us the food was out in less than five minutes. That's pretty good especially if you were to visit during lunch.

Terrible Red Beans and Rice. Purchased the Gumbo as well and it looks and tastes worse than the beans. Very disappointing! Donaldsonville location.
