Pirogue's Whiskey Bayou

Pirogue's It's a cool whiskey bar with delicious oysters directly across the tracks in Arabi. I personally went this time for the happy hour & they had it on a Sunday. They have $1 raw oysters on a half shell and a $1.50 char grill option that come with butter the French bread. When you walk in you can either sit down or you can go to the bar and order service was great and very attentive. I ordered the dozen char grilled which were delicious and work the trip alone. I would definitely be returning here to check out the rest of the menu, but you can go wrong with the char grilled oysters and did I mention how massive they were. I had one photo in there which is my hand holding one and that was the medium one. I end up eating the big one before I got a picture of it. Definitely check them out.

Dive bar atmosphere with great food, cold beer, and clean restrooms. Easy to make assumptions based on outside appearance, but cool hangout.

Hidden in this Arabi bar is a great pizza kitchen serving legit Detroit style pizza that is some of the best in the city. We ordered the pepperoni and it was excellent, the Detroit style crust is buttery goodness. A great pizza option in town.

This place is definitely a kinda hidden gem. I have come here quite a few times to hang with friends and there is almost always a different event and every time its an awesome time. They have trivia nights, Karaoke nights, live music, outdoor seating, a big screen for Saints games and THE BEST bartenders around. I came once and there was a mechanical bull in the back bar! I have to shout out to the two bartenders I know the best, Misty and Ryan. They make me feel so welcome and always get the drink orders right. If no one is there I know on my side of the bar, I can count on chatting it up with either of them like old friends.Of all the bars in the immediate area, Juan's & OAB, this is by far the classiest of the 3. The crowd is really mixed and all are basically friendly and easy to talk to. Also tolerant of when we may get a little too drunk and wont take advantage of a super drunk lady like I have noticed at other places. At the other two bars, I feel the crowd is ratchet+. This bar has a safe feeling. Also the owners are often there and know all the patrons so sus activity is monitored within reason.Something that I haven't partaken in often is the food. Lots of people rave about the pizza. I still haven't had it yet! Korean corn dogs are the bomb tho! Did I mention I absolutely love Misty and Ryan? Also there is a local fixture that wanders in from time to time that you have to meet. His name is Super Dave. Spews knowledge and cuss words with the greatest of ease and great for a laugh! He is actually so super, they named a burger after him here. I haven't had that yet. I am somewhat of a beer snob and fortunately they have me well covered in IPA goodness. They have taps also. They have mystery shots and drinks too for a huge discount. I can go on and on but I love this bar! They have pickle shots here ladies. Yuck!Heads up, during the day till 11pm it is a non smoking bar!! yes! At 11pm when the kitchen closes, it changes to smoking. Pro-tip. If you are a Mimosa fan, order the Jessica.

Cant believe we've lived in Arabi for 3 years and are just discovering this place! It's super cute, dog friendly, and the bar foods not bad either.

I ordered through uber eats the Detroit style pepperoni pizza, so I am limited in my review. The pizza was delicious, but also different than a typical pizza. A LOT more cheese and the sauce (which was less amount than most pizzas) was drizzled on the top of the cheese. The ton of cheese made this pizza very filling despite not appearing large. Myself and a friend both saved a slice for the next day. It was a little bit more greasy of a pizza but that is something I don't mind. All in all this was a real good quality pizza. It was a bit on the pricey side at 18$ but worth a try. I am just not sold on the Detroit style.

Food is always great, I've had Charbroiled oysters all over New Orleans and they do not come close to these. That includes Acme, Ed's and Blue Bayou. I haven't personally had Dragos so I can't say. Bartenders are friendly, quick and attentive and they get my espresso martini right every time. No complaints here. Except I wish they had mozzarella sticks, but that's just me.

Great bar but consistently feel like I'm overpaying for a bar that is out of the way.
