The restaurant is the epitome of the new wave of aesthetically pleasing Instagram able restaurants coming out. I had seen so many great reviews on this restaurant and had to check out. We sat out on their covered and heated porch area. You have to make a reservation as this place is on the smaller side. We sat and were greeted by the fullest of personality waiter. He was cracking us the whole time. I wish I could remember his name, but he worked on November Friday night. We ordered the Swordfish Schnitzel. I absolutely loved the salty and fresh lemon flavors in the salad like layer the swordfish sat on. It tasted like salty capors and fish, it just worked, all the flavors really worked together. And what an interesting way to cook swordfish, to schnitzel it! It was all so creative. But not as creative as the desserts. My gosh, it was like something out of one of those baking competition shows. Just detailed and delicious. We ordered both the lemon dessert and the chocolate bubble bath one. Lemon was the best and I am still dreaming out its months later. The chocolate bubble bath was very good too. Although we did not sit inside, we could see the inside and I loved the wooden panels around the breathtaking bar. It looks like it resembled ribs of a ship or a whale. Next, I have to try The Husky. Keep doing what you are doing. I will also be back for HH.

A very happening place...GREAT service. We had a nice evening.Good selection of oysters (~$4 each). Their selection varies and they had no La. oysters - which I find as good - but from MA, ME, and AL.Entrees maybe a bit pricey (at $44 for scallops and $39 for redfish) and scallop plate had 3! - I often get 4 or 5 on the East Coast."That's My Playlist Bitch" - a winner - see photo. And of course their signature dessert - see photo.Damages for 2 with cocktails, wine, and tip were $295.

Dined here my last night in NOLA- did not disappoint!!Environment: medium to small sized restaurant. More intimate setting. Great place for a date night. Amazing decor that's well thought out. Well stocked bar. On the quieter side. I enjoyed the alternative music. Service: wonderful! Our server was very helpful in making recommendations and was very friendly. Our server, and other servers, were quick to clear plates out of our way. Food came out in a timely manner. Food: AMAZING!! I got the squid ink pasta and Lordy, this was the best thing I ate during my visit to NOLA. The sautéed mushrooms were just as delish. Grilled octopus was also yummy and cooked to perfection. Our table also got an order of the fries, which are a must try here. Everything was delicious. I was only upset about the serving sizes- we were all still hungry after the meal. I understand this type of restaurant values quality over quantity, so I'm not expecting a bigger serving necessarily for the same price. But a heads up from the server would've been ideal. My dad and his wife ordered the grilled octopus and it was more like an appetizer than an entree. We would've ordered more had we known, but had to get up early for our flight the next day so left it at that. Drinks: we didn't try any adult beverages, but they had an extensive menu and a throughly stocked bar, so I'm willing to bet the drinks are just as good as the food. Highly recommend coming here.

Came here when in town for a weekend. Cute small place, love the decor. Waitress was awesome, gave us lots of good drink and food recommendations. We got the oyster flight to start, was so good! It had oysters from various regions, was cool to taste the difference in taste. Next we got the caviar service, which came in the cutest presentation! Had potato chips, blini, crème fresh, onion and egg as sides. Was so good. Also got Chargrilled mussels, eggplant doughnuts, ishmael fries, and roasted cauliflower. Food was pretty good. Drinks were strong. Service was awesome! It got pretty busy and the place is small so got a little loud but was a good experience

We came for desserts and night caps and pigeon and whale did not disappoint! Their juice box was excellent and crafted very well. The lemon cheesecake came out in an extraordinary fashion. White chocolate lemon cheesecake with the bed of crumbled graham cracker. What a way to end the night!

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed dining here! Everything was great from the start. Tristan was our server and he was very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with us as we decided whether we wanted to just eat oysters or actually get entrees. We ended up deciding on the oysters. I'm usually not the biggest fan of raw oysters because of the fishy aftertaste, but these oysters were so good! We started out with the Shucker's Dozen and went in from there. My favorite oyster was The Eel, from Nova Scotia. The bread service is also something I definitely recommend! The sourdough is delicious.

We had reservations so we were quickly seated. Our waitress was AWESOMELY AMAZING, and a rare find. She was sweet, kind, without judgement, attentive, informative, and just overall pleasant. It came natural and didn't feel forced or like a job for her. She made some great recommendations and everything was very flavorful! I hate I can remember our servers name but she was amazing! I'll definitely be back!

Wow!! What can I say - been meaning to go here for some time - took some international guests visiting from out of town- and we had possibly one of the best meals ever in this great culinary city! The menu is "fancy" if you will but even our kids were delighted and throughly enjoyed everything. We sampled quite a few dishes and all were absolutely over the top including the desert - the Lemon cheese cake desert is not only unreal it's a work of art - We can personally vouch for the Swordfish Schnitzel, the Grilled Octopus, Eggplant Doughnuts, Roasted Carrots, Fried Broccolini, the LOBSTER ROLL (amen)!! The market fish (was red snapper ta'diefor!) and Chargrilled Mussels (daughter ordered a second plate!) the service was good and quirky - we got his humor - the atmosphere is brilliant and perfect for casual OR a great date night or just needing to impress business people or out-of-towners . I think this place has risen to the top of our list and that is saying a lot here in NOLA! Bravo!!

When you first walk in to Pigeon and Whale you are stunned by the bar, the lights, the nautical feel, the seemingly endless choice of high end liquor makes you want to order something to drink that's fancy and decadent. But that have that covered with, a first for me, a choice of house negroni's. I tried a few. So good! As were all of the drinks ordered by my party. All were artfully made. The hostess was cordial, competent and helped properly decipher the quality seafood menus. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Sounds simple, but they were a variety of oysters from around the country. You could really taste the difference and they were so fresh and good. For entrée the red fish was to die for. Crusted and Parmesan and cook the perfection it made my night. A few people ordered the steak and it was solid and very tasty. Normally don't get a great steak at a seafood restaurant, but Pigeon and Whale has figured it out. Then we finish it off with a very unique dessert. A bathtub full of chocolate, mousse and other goodness with marshmallows and a cookie whales tale sticking out of it. The hint of whimsy and the look of this dish closed out a wonderful meal for everyone at the table. My recommendation is if you haven't tried this place you have to check it out. It's well worth your time, your taste buds, and your money. Ps. I love the bathrooms. It's like you stepped into a luxury cruise liner's brass plated, ultra lounge bathroom. If it were bigger, I would camp out in there.

We came here on a Saturday night and was seated very quickly. The hostess and wait staff were super friendly and accommodating. The ambiance allows for date nights or dinner with fancy friends. There's a bar with ample seating. We also had the lobster roll, swordfish and clams, but the *GRILLED OCTOPUS* was my absolute favorite! It reminded me of a dish that I had a Spain. It was so tender and savory! I'd come back and order 2 of these for myself.
