For those of you who haven't been here recently, this place is the SPCA now and it's WONDERFUL.They recently had an event where your cats and dogs could be brought in to be vaccinated for the year and microchipped (if you haven't already) all for $5. Doing this at the vet can cost you hundreds of dollars, so it's an awesome service they were offering for local pet-owners. I found out about it via their Facebook page. I recommend following them on Facebook to keep tabs on other helpful events they might host!At the event, the staff really tried their best to make things run smoothly and comfortably as possible. As you guys know, that's hard to do in the Louisiana heat and rain! It was a popular event, with lots of people, so the wait was kind of long, but that's inevitable. What impressed me was the staff coming out to check on people and their pets who were waiting outside. They put out hoses and water bowls for the animals and passed out cold drinks to the people waiting. When it started raining, they quickly mobilized people inside and reorganized the line to try to shelter as many people as possible from the weather. So considerate, right? They were really efficient too; the vaccination and microchipping for the cat I brought was completed in less than 5 minutes once we got to the front of the line. The vet administering the shots treated him (my chonky male cat) so well, he didn't protest or complain at all. He even licked the vet's fingers when she was done! I guess my cat liked this place too!

I went on a field trip with a couple of special ed classes and the staff was phenomenal. They assisted so all our kids could pet all the cats and dogs. The facility is well maintained and very pretty. Plaquemines Parish only contributes for a third of funding so they can really use donations. Our classes donated newspaper, cat food and litter. www.paws4life.com

Loved how they told us we could just go in and mingle with the animals instead of having someone watch over our shoulders. We took in a dog that we found a couple days ago and gladly kept her until owners are found or if she needed to be rehomed. It was a very clean facility and especially loved how they have outdoor areas for the animals to run around and have more space! The staff was very kind and informative ohh and they don't charge you your soul for vaccinations!

Do not adopt from these people. They try to fill you full of lies and empty promises. Broke my little boys heart with one of their lies.

These people care about you, and your pets. They helped my husband and me find a dog that was a good fit for us. They even cat tested the dog for us! Everyone is really friendly, including the animals. The animals seem to be well taken care of and happy. The workers even took our first family photo! 10/10 would recommend :D

PAWS & Furry Friends have disappointed me. My mom adopted Persia on April 7,2018. They made her out to be a friendly diva...she wouldn't let anyone touch her. She had fleas & lots of matted fur.Furry Friends accused my mom of neglect. When my mom tried to comb her or even treat her for fleas, she would hiss & bite my mom, Persia drew blood too many times. Now my mom is on Insulin . I told my mom to give to give her time because who knows what she had been through. 4 days ago she stopped eating but was still drinking, my mom had told me to come on over and take a look at her. I went by my mom's and she was laying on a blanket and I picked her up and I told my mom we need to take her in to Furry Friends. As soon as we took her to Furry Friends the lady at the front desk just made this disgusting look on her face and my mom knew right then and there that she was going to try to blame her for the cat being sick. The lady at Furry Friends told my mom to bring in $125 deposit and leave her there and later they would do blood work. She stayed there overnight because they would not let her come home with us. The next morning they called my mom to tell her that she was still the same and that she was going back to the shelter. So my advice is if you get any pet from PAWS please make sure you bring them to your Vet. I have nothing against the animals but everything against PAWS, I have met up with many people who have adopted from PAWS and their animals we're sick. My mom is elderly and she has owned many animals, not once has my mom ever been accused of neglecting an animal. Furry friends told my mom they were going to do blood work on her to see what was wrong, yet the cat sat there ,they never did blood work and we have no clue what's going on with Persia.
