Pat O'Briens or Pat O's as it is often called, was on my walk back after one of the warm up Mardi Gras parades in the French quarter. I was moderately hungry and desired an atmosphere that was different, after over 3 hours on a balcony. Pat O's had a well appointed courtyard, lovely decor and artifacts, a soothing ambiance, music that was appropriate.....and that is where I ended up. Once again, I was only interested in small portions, but if possible, to order an item that killed several birds with one stone. The menu had exactly one of those options. Pat O's Trio (a sampler of New Orleans classics of Gumbo, Jambalaya and Red Beans). The three choices arrived nice and hot (it was a chilly evening), with all of them cooked optimally to fire up flavor, taste and satisfaction. Service was caring and excellent. A lovely end, to another memorable night in NOLA.

Did you even go to New Orleans if you didn't have a hurricane? If you're looking for a joint with indoor/outdoor seating options and a strong drink, duck into the courtyard restaurant for a hurricane. The drink are great and you can enjoy them without all the wild times usually found at a Bourbon Street location...you know, unless that's your jam.

My group and I went to Pat O'Briens since every restaurant was packed, and we wanted to rest and sit down while eating. The whole place was packed, but we were seated quickly since most people went to the bar instead of dining in. The restaurant also had a very lively and fun atmosphere. Our server, Derrick, was welcoming and friendly. Even though he was busy, he still made time to accommodate and chat with us. I ordered a shrimp po'boy and a Virgin Piña Colada. The po'boy was delicious. I loved that the shrimp were fresh, and they were not stingy about putting in a lot of shrimp. I also enjoyed the mocktail; it tasted like a real pina colada, even with no alcohol. It still gave me a feeling that I was drinking a real cocktail.Overall, we enjoyed dining at Pat O'Brien's. It can get too loud, but the energy was great and fun.

We came for the hurricanes in the courtyard. We were able to snag a table pretty fast and our waitress put our drinks in right away. The hurricane drink was definitely strong but good and the atmosphere is pretty fun. I recommend to make the stop here if you're on Bourbon St. We didn't order any food.

We arrived in New Orleans and needed a quick bite while we waited for our hotel room to be ready. We found Pat O'Brien's on Yelp and made the walk over. My sense is this is maybe a bit of a tourist trap? The food was ho-hum, and the drinks were sickly sweet.I ordered their caesar salad. It was basic, but I'll say it was incredibly fresh. My dining companion asked our server what they thought was the best thing on the menu. They replied the chicken sandwich--so that's what he ordered. It turned out to be a very basic chicken sandwich with basic, unseasoned grilled chicken. So odd.We also ordered hurricanes and found them to be a bit overly sweet. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice (we sat out on the patio). Aside from that--a pretty ho-hum experience.

I'm getting a little old to be spending my nights out on bourbon street these days but when I came to New Orleans to try various cocktails invented in the city, it would have been a pretty big omissions to skip over Pat O'Brians and try their Hurricane. Not my first choice when out for a drink but a refreshing, enjoyable one none the less.Honestly this place really surprised me. The outdoor courtyard space they have here is amazing and makes it a wonderful place to do some lazy day drinking. Their pub food is pretty good and offers a great selection of local dishes as well. I sort of expected this place to not be my vibe at all, but I have to admit that I think with its different spaces there is likely something that can appeal to everyone. If you are a tourist like me, I think you can do a lot worse than Pat O'Brien's. This is a case where the spot is pretty iconic for a reason I guess. There is a lot to like here.

We had a nice lunch at Pat O'Brien's Courtyard. I had a combo of gumbo, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. The jambalaya was not that great, but the gumbo and red beans and rice were excellent. My wife wanted to order a grilled chicken sandwich but the waiter told us it would take 30 minutes. I'm glad he told us in advance instead of just letting her order it. We sat outside in the courtyard and it was very pleasant.

Very nice place to stop for a Hurricane and a bite of food. The Hurricanes are basically alcoholic tropical punch served in a yard glass with a LOT of ice. Super sweet but fun. The jambalaya was good, but it was a stew served with a scoop of white rice in the middle, more a gumbo than a jambalaya. Still, it was tasty. The bread pudding was particularly awesome. The courtyard itself is reserved for people drinking rather than eating, and the patio where we were seated wasn't as atmospheric. Service was attentive and I'd definitely go back - and have more bread pudding.
