I was walking through New Orleans, headed to a bar I've visited before, when I happened to look up and see the sign for Palm & Pine..I guess that was my sign to check it out! This mildly dim-lit, swanky spot has a creative menu that immediately caught my eye. I started with a craft beer that had chocolate influences, it was decent, though not my favorite. Then came the real star: the gumbo. What intrigued me was the Creole pumpkin potato salad served instead of rice! such a twist! I went with a cup for my test run, and wow, I wish I'd ordered the bowl. It was absolutely delicious, and I'll definitely be back for a full bowl next time.I sat at the bar as usual, and the barkeep was super nice and attentive, adding to the great experience. If nothing else, stop by for the gumbo, you won't regret it!

The service was fantastic. Walked right in and greeted by our server immediately. It was a team effort by all the employees to bring out dishes, clean off dishes, and keep water topped off. Very very attentive!Lots of imagination in the dishes here. I like how they swing big by creating fusion dishes. Some were straight bangers and others were not doing it for me. I generally hate beans but the butter bean dish here had me re-evaluating my life choices because it was so good. The steak tips were fine. Probably wouldn't order them again. The P&P salad was spectacular. Corn babies were delightful. BBQ shrimp not a hit and I generally LOVE shrimp. The lemongrass gumbo isn't on the menu anymore from what I can tell. I didn't love it but I love the idea of it. The chef took a big swing and for me it was a miss but I approve of the process of trying new recipes and aiming big!The flan was really great. Oh baby was it great!I was gonna give this place 4 stars because some of the dishes weren't for me but I'm going five stars because I sure like that they're cautiously pushing the bounds and that should count for something. It's how great dishes and found - through the journey.

Had the Wagyu and eggs. Super chewy and tough and not seasoned well. Tiresome to get through. The potatoes were odd tasting and sauce didn't help. The p&p salad was ok but nothing I would talk about. Lots of Parmesan and lettuce too big with all the sauce on the bottom which is annoying. Shrimp and grits were mediocre. The hardwire drink didn't even finish. Not enough coffee flavor and too much tonic amongst other things. The tuna ceviche was decent. The best part of the meal was the cornbread biscuit. The dewberry jam was delicious. If you're looking for lightly seasoned food, like something you would find in the Midwest, this is for you. Also 20% tip is added automatically and no where do I see it stated. Can see people tipping twice by mistake. Maybe because it was brunch menu it was unexciting. But just poor all the way around for me.

If I could give this a 0 star I would. Owner with the blue hair was super rude! Made the experience super uncomfortable Never coming back.

Palm and Pine is a great spot on the edge of the French Quarter. Recently we visited for brunch and had a great meal. The P&P salad is one of my top 5 salads in NO. It is Soo tasty. The crab ragpona were delicious. The other food was good and the champagne special was a perfect way to wash it down. Our server was awesom- attentive, friendly and accommodating. I definitely won't wait so long to visit there again.

I was in town this fall for a conference and one of my colleagues found this spot for dinner. Such an awesome experience with amazing food and drinks. Our server was knowledgeable and took great care of a large table. Lived the open kitchen look with seating and the beautiful space. Definitely recommend this spot!

When I was doing research for places to eat in NOLA, this one popped up on quite a few lists -- and now i understand why.The space itself isn't too big but has a WHOLE lot of personality. I was truly in love with this restaurant and knew as soon as we walked in that I was going to love dinner. Our server was excellent and we were never left waiting or wanting. It wasn't *super* busy but we were there a little late for dinnertime. They were still running around and seemed to be on top of their game as a whole staff. I loved the menu options - it was very hard to make a decision on what I wanted for my main - but I was NOT disappointed :) Side note -- the menu had me at "corn babies." How fun is that??Of course we ordered said corn babies and they were absolutely banging. We also had the special, squash blossom tacos, and I could have eaten 10 of them. All 4 of us were very happy with our dishes and I have to say the cajun fried quail was outrageous - I ate every single bite.

Wow. I enjoyed it so much that I returned a second time within 2 days to try their late night jazz fest menu. First item of note, 20% is added to every check. The blank tip (gratuity) line doesn't state it's an additional tip -- so beware. DECORCertain seating reminded me of a church pews. SERVICEService is great in that servers are friendly and easy going. The wait staff have plenty to keep them busy, which leaves the impression that requests can take a while. COCKTAILSYou really can't go wrong, except that you should avoid the coconut water daiquiris if you're expecting a traditional type daiquiris. FOODCrawfish Rampart (5 stars) This is a must try app. It is served cold like ceviche and doused in remoulade. The fried saltines really helped to balance the flavors. Cornmeal Fried Oysters (3 stars) This is perfect for those with gluten sensitivities. They're fried hard, which isn't my preference. On the other hand, the accompanying sauce was really special.Corn Babies a/k/a Cornbread (4 stars) It's spectacular, but $13 for 3 seems a bit steep. Corner Store Crudo/ Yellowfin Tuna Crudo (4 stars) Very Special. It's packed bursting with an array of flavors. I could even taste the pineapple big shot which is a local soda company. Pork belly fried rice a/k/a "Arroz ----?" (5 stars) It was some of the best fried rice I've ever had. Everyone at the table went back for seconds of this shared item. Other items of note: 1. It's a warm place. The doors were open both times and I don't think they use A/C. Dress accordingly. If you prefer cool places or less humid ones, this probably isn't the place for you. 2. Reservations - Highly suggest making them, especially during festivals or special events. 3. During our late night meal, there was a really fun Burlesquette show. It was a tasteful surprise. It was also cool that tipping was available via Venmo, Zelle and cash app.

I finally made my way in after having this spot on my list for the longest. All in all, it was a great dinner. The service was great. They even gave me the heads up that a large group was set to come in after me & be right behind me so I could move if I didn't want to be bothered with their volume. That was appreciated. My cocktail, the Palm & Pain, was delicious. We got a few apps to try. The crab claw Maisonette was so cute but I wasn't a big fan of the guac dressing. The crudo was great. The tartare was good as well. The jerk quail was fantastic. I'd definitely order it again. Perfectly cooked and seasoned & the muscadine pickapeppa was on point. The quail was moist and delicious. The curry ice cream was a no from me but I like the concept. It was just weird reconciling the curry flavor that I typically have in savory foods with a dessert lol. The dulcey de mamey cake was good though. Parking could be a challenge. I got lucky with a close spot on the street but there is a premium paid lot close by. It's a cute space.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing Coolinary dinner at Palm&Pine! It was one of the best meals I've had in New Orleans lately. We started with the marinated shishitos and the crab claw cocktail. Both were amazing with the shishitos being my boyfriend's favorite dish of the night. We got the catfish and quail for our main - we both liked our dishes a lot, I got the catfish and it was super flavorful. For dessert we got the curry banana ice cream and the flan. The flan was probably the best I've ever had! The ice cream I thought was just ok, very strong curry flavor. Both of our cocktails were great too. I would definitely like to go back to try more of the menu.
