What's up with the Metry bars that are split level? If you can't make it down the steps, you're too drunk to buy another drink? The regulars were super friendly and welcoming so that was nice. The drinks were cheap AND, y'all, there were inspirational quotes written in mirrored letters in the ladies room. Seriously, I felt inspired. The karaoke DJ (only on Saturday night?) may have been insane...or he just thought he had skillz. So that was kind of annoying. HOWEVER, hearing Joel sing (thanks to Steve) I'm in Love with a Stripper will live in my memory for a long, long time. Seriously this was a classic moment and I'm sorry if you missed it. Pair of Dice gets a bonus star just for being the locale of that song...and y'know the mirror quotes. The crowd was really eclectic which surprised me.

Very cool place with karaoke on Saturdays and a good selection of drinks. Friendly bartenders, cool clientele and it's very spacious. It's next to a bunch of other bars too and can't ignore the taco truck outside.

Ahhh Pair of Dice. I have spent some time at your bar years ago with some questionable characters. I remember the night I came here with crazy Stephanie and we played video poker for quite some time. That was the same night some folks meandered over from the Super 8 next door and the girl got so drunk she had to be carried out. Yeah I admit I have hung out in this corner of Metairie so much in the past that I have become a close friend to the owner of the Super 8 across the street. What this bar brings to the table is the unknown and isn't that half the fun of going to bars? Not knowing what the hell is going to happen after you walk in or have had a few drinks. Pair of Dice is a great bar for such moments. Cheap drinks. Cheap women patronizing the bar. Cheap fun! Oh paradise can be truly had on a freaking interstate service road in suburbia.

We'll it was all I could do to keep from crying. Sometimes it seems so useless to remain. OK. Now that I relieved my 4 minutes of glory singing karaoke, I will get to the purpose of my typing; a review of a Metry bar.As the third stop on the now world famous Metry bar crawl, Pair of Dice did not disappoint. First, they had a reasonable beer selection that was well priced. Don't expect any crazy super secret craft beers, but they did have some well poured dark beers. I would gladly tell you what brands, but I can't remember. Must have been the pickle wrapped in ham. Did I just say a pickle wrapped in ham? Why yes, I did. On the night we visited there was a birthday party for one of the regulars. There was a full buffet of food and I convinced a yelper to try one of the odder items which was the aforementioned pickle. Being the good sport that I am, I tried it too. It was unique to say the least. Since this is a review of a bar and not a pickle, I'll move on. The bar at this place was the complete opposite of what I am used to. Instead of being raised, it was sunken compared to the main floor and there were a couple of steps down to the bar. I can imagine the more intoxicated folks must have fun ordering drinks, but maybe this prevents them from being too hammered. The bartenders and clientele were friendly to our group, but you could tell we didn't fit in. The night really got interesting when the karaoke started. Our group did several different songs, including Joel professing his love for a stripper.I did have fun here, but I think that was the product of the group I was with. I do think this was my favorite spot on the bar crawl for what that's worth. There you have it. If you like what you've read, check this place out.

This bar was the 3rd stop during the UYE Metry Bar Crawl. The one thing that made my skin crawl was the lame music mash ups. Yes not just me but a few other yelpers were turned off by that. Some music mash ups are just never meant to be.The Karaoke was definitely worth it. Hearing Joel M. singing,"I'm in love with a stripper" was absolutely priceless! That was probably the biggest highlight of the bar crawl.Other things I noticed about this bar was all the vintage beer posters. A lot of which look like they from the year 1983. They had a whole bunch of food that had been set up for a birthday for some other patron. In short cheap booze, kick ass karaoke, and lame mash ups.

I didn't know anything in this strip mall was even open anymore as I have only driven past this area in the daytime and it has always looked deserted. Well what do ya know this is a strip mall full of bars that gets busy at night. They had a friendly bartender and friendly patrons here on the night I visited. This place was so smokey that I had a hard time staying inside it very long. The "music" mash up by the DJ was absolutely atrocious and pained my ears. When the noise of the DJ ceased it was replaced, to my horror, with karaoke. I have a deep disdain for karaoke except when done by bachelorette parties at Cat's Meow or by people that have a fear of public speaking. I ran out of the door in great fear of my soul being eaten by the karaoke machine. This place has two doors with one in front and one in back and I ran out of the front door frying pan and into the fire as right next door to this joint is the Devil's Bayou bar and Joe's Caddy Corner Bar which had more karaoke going on! If Pair of Dice just played regular music and got their beer colder they would be a three star joint for the area. A smoke filter wouldn't hurt either.

Interesting place. Good selection of drinks, and reasonably priced. The DJ though... I can't remember his name, except he was wearing a Cowboys hat (strange thing in NOLA). He played some horrible mixes, as Marielle pointed out in her review, and then the karaoke started. Some good, some bad - that's how karaoke goes. It's entertaining either way. This is where our night ended, as I am old and it was way past my bedtime. There is another bar next door that I'll have to check out someday. Overall, Pair of Dice was pretty cool... A-OK, even.

Third stop on the Metry bar crawl. Pretty cool place. Super friendly patrons. The music was...interesting. Elvis mashed up with Eminem. Amy Winehouse mashed up with Queen. I gotta say, I didn't quite "get it", but eventually the horrible mash up music stopped and karaoke started. Everyone in our group had a really good time cheering on Joel, Dann, and John. They had some regulars who took the mic and they were really good. I could tell that the people here are all friends, which is awesome. This was my final stop on the Metry bar crawl, and I would probably come back to this place if I were in the area.

Great place to meet with friends and maybe find someone. They can make pretty much any drink you want. It's a dive-but a great dive. I would recommend it for anything needed.
