Ormond Manor

Pretty much the start of our River Road adventure, the Ormond Plantation was our least favorite of the plantations. It was very...NEW....looking. It was not terribly interesting from the outside, and having been on the inside before, I knew it was not that impressive there either.The Girly didn't even bother to take a picture of the house.She did, however, take a lot of pictured of the old wooden tub-boat located next door behind this tiny Farmers Market they were having.

My favorite place for Sunday brunch! Delicious food, friendly service and beautiful setting.

Stayed overnight at the plantation overnight on a Thursday in May 2016 and was very disappointed with the Red Room. DO NOT RESERVE THE RED ROOM! We had serious issues and wanted to talk to the manager when we checked-out but the manager was not on-site. I left a list of room problems, my name and phone number with the staff and they ensured me that they would give the message to their manager. Didn't hear anything. I also tried reaching out to the Ormond Plantation manager directly by calling the plantation but the manager was unavailable so I asked for the manager to return my call. I haven't heard anything. Issues we had with the Red Room: * Television did not work - we were told someone would come and connect but that was never done. * Bugs in the en-suite bathroom - so many (15+) running around on the bathroom counter top that I had to move my toiletries and shake out my robe that had been laying on the countertop - not sure what kind of bugs they were. By the time we found the bugs, it was too late in the evening to call the office.* Found more bugs in the fireplace once we started looking. (disgusting)* No hot water in the room - could not shower - let the water run at least 10 minutes and it stayed cold (we wanted to shower the morning we were checking out). We managed to wash our faces the evening before with cold water.Wouldn't you agree that this is substandard? The food the meals we had were all excellent - the chef is amazing but consider carefully booking the Red Room. After multiple attempts to reach management to discuss the room because we wanted to ensure things improved for future guests and getting no response; I felt it necessary to let others know and beware.

Wanted to meet some locals and stay in a B&B near New Orleans. The home is authentic, yet modernized on a budget. If you love antiques and memorabilia, this is a refreshing stop off of the beaten path. The property is known for hosting events so help the groups celebrate and enjoy the festive nature of the staff. I especially appreciate Chef Richard for his incredible breakfasts. He knows his food and you can tell how much he loves showing off his special dishes. (Not going to give away his secrets, but 5 star quality!) My GF and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful grounds, peaceful ambiance of early morning tea on the porch and the attentiveness of the staff. Great job, Ormond!

I attempted to have my wedding reception at this venue in which they allowed outside catering I was sooooo excited. I previously planned to have a church wedding and to have my reception at this particular venue due to the fact that I am from Ormond in Destrehan. The overseer Robin was a bit unprofessional with me. As she promised me that I could have the venue for as long as I wanted. She quoted me a price for the venue and seemed so enthusiastic about it. I flew down to Louisiana for the weeked to see the venue and was estatic about how smooth everything was going and then she soon retracted her statement. As I am in medical school out of state she started to avoid me when I attempted to contact her. She placed other people on the phone to distract me who quoted me different prices and said that they were unable to find my paperwork and she didn't remember speaking to me and quoting me anything. In the end when I called and called she and her staff never returned my call back although Debra was very pleasant. She too was unable to vouch for me as Robin is her boss. This occurance also happened with another one of my friends who warned me about this venue. I was a bit of a hard head as I thought she maybe had done something wrong. I soon learned that it was true and as of now 7 months later I am still in search of a venue. I started a year and a half in advance and while I am not bitter I too want to warn others about the problem that might occur while planning to have a reception at this venue!! BEWARE!!!! If you get a quote from anyone at this venue get it in black and white it will save you some time and heartache!!BBBBBBEEEEEWWWWWWAAAAAARRRRRREEEE!!!!!! REEEALYYYY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! APPROACH WITH CAUTION!!!!
