Like most other reviewers we had a great experience. This place is 8 minutes from our house and we had zero clue. The tour was informative and engaging without being boring. I liked that the head distiller was on site and was a New Orleans native. Tastings were plenty and I probably never would have tried these different types of rum otherwise. All in all super happy with the experience for the price and even managed to discover the Gingeroo and grabbed a bottle to take home.

Made a point to stop here just because it's the Oldest Us Rum Distillery. You gotta go !! Small place that is set up just perfectly for them. We took the tour ..... with a lot of people in another group. Enjoyed it and it was very Informative but "Bob" added just a tad bit too much with the game playing. Each rum stands on it's own merit... regardless of which flavor you like. They also have the high water mark from Hurricane Katrina on the wall. He also discussed their rum losses along with lessons learned.Definitely a good stop when exploring New Orleans.

We purchased a Groupon on a whim because we love rum.The tour offers a free shuttle not far from the French Quarter. Our tour guide/driver Bob was fun, provided lots of history on the rum making process, and afterwards we sampled about 6 rums. I'm glad they bounced back post Katrina. They use activated charcoal to remove impurities from the rum...which was the first major lesson I learned here. Bob was very informative andWe left with a lot of knowledge. We bought the gingeroo, which was quite spicy and the Cajun spiced Rum.Quality rum at good prices.

3.5 StarsWhile I did like this place, I think because of its current ratings I expected it to be awesome, and it was really just okay. I highly recommend going when the temperature is cooler outside, because otherwise you will sweat non-stop.If you purchase a ticket and pay extra, they will pick you up at the the French Market in their shuttle. Definitely do this, because the place would be extremely hard to find on your own.The semi-surly (and late) bus driver surprisingly turned out to be our host for the event. You walk into the tiny main office, with only a wall unit to cool it off, and he gets busy making your first drink - either a punch or tea with their rum. Then he makes assorted drinks and starts giving you the history of rum and how it got to NOLA. When he asks questions, shout out the correct answer, and an extra drink will be yours! Then we did the tour, which was going into their non-air conditioned warehouse, and following him around for 15 minutes as he showed all the processing steps. Interesting, but hot.Back in for the tastings, finally! He was really, really, really pushing the Cajun Spice rum; however, I only liked the Gingeroo because it was both sweet and fizzy. My favorite part was actually the original art displayed on the walls by the one of the owners - his name is James Michalopoulos, and he is incredibly talented.

Everywhere I go I'm always looking for a good rum tour. I mean rum is life. I was excited to find Old New Orleans Rum. Booked the tour online before I arrived to the city. There an option to also book a complementary shuttle, $15. If you're staying in the French Quarters I recommend it. The bus picks up behind the Organic Banana in the French Market. Our shuttle bus driver was also the tour guide. As we walked in we were greeted with cocktails. This is the kind of welcome I like! We got a history of the company, liquor in the US, and New Orleans. Then toured of the facilities. At the end we got to taste all the rums. Of course you can buy and the rums of souvenirs. There's also the option to ship the bottles home.

Our One Brick Builds group had an amazing time on this tour! Many thanks to the One Brick NOLA members who set it up for us -- it was truly a memorable experience!Upon arriving for our 4 PM tour on Friday, we were welcomed with a Cajun Spice Ice Tea and then the trivia began! If you answer the question correctly first, you get another cocktail (another Cajun Spice Ice Tea or Gingeroo). I'm happy to say I got 3 of them right.Once we're all feeling good, we leave the tasting room to see the barrels & machinery. Bob was an awesome guide who expertly kept everyone focused, even those on the tour who had already had a bit too much to drink. He explained the history of the distillery, including showing us the Katrina water line and explaining that 15% of their stock was lost due to flooding. We learned so much about the distilling process and gained a new appreciation for rum and the Old New Orleans method. All of this learning makes you thirsty! So we reentered the tasting room to find samples lined up for us. Bob went through each one to explain a bit about the rum we were about to sample. We got to try a divine platinum-awarded rum as well as the amber, cajun spice, 1818, and Gingeroo. These guys really make a great product! And their model is effective: get everyone tipsy & happy and then sell them things! I ordered a bottle of the Amber to be shipped to my dad, the rum lover in our family. I also got a cool magnet, which is made out of a barrel stopper! Another cool offering is that if you buy a flask, they'll fill it up for you for free. All of the staff was so cool and really knows their stuff. Bob even dropped us off at our desired location on Frenchmen St. afterward. This is a tour and an experience that no rum (or fun) lover should miss!

5 stars for the best rum tasting tour I've ever been on! We decided to try this place out and made it to the last tour of the day at 4 pm. The tour cost $15 per person. We started the tour with a trivia game where anytime we answered a question correctly we were rewarded with a drink. A lot of it was history related and let's just say the boyfriend was winning by a long shot (he's such a nerd and I love it). I've done many others tours before and it was a fun interactive way to start out.The location itself is on the small side. Our tour guide Bob was very knowlegable and answered all of our questions. He was open to hearing our opinions on other rums or liquiors. We walked through the back area of see how the rums are barreled, how the alcohol is made and the bottling process. I can't believe all the different labels created on these bottles. I liked how the label is more similar now so that it's easily recognizable in the store but adding a little different art on the back label. I really enjoyed the spiced rum, much better than Captian Morgan. My close second would be the Gingeroo, even better if you mix them together! All around one of my favorite tours I've been on, I definitely recommend a visit!

Heads, tails and plenty of hearts! Great rum tour located on the outskirts of downtown NOLA. The tour included all parts of the distillation process and all about the barreling process. Our tour guide was great and he was very knowledgeable about the process. We also tasted about 6 different rums at the end of the tour! We also bought 2 bottles-which they packed well for our flight home!Shuttle service also provided to and from with pickup in the French Quarter.

Due to a late start, we missed the Old New Orleans Rum Distillery Tour, which costs $15 per person, includes tastings, and occurs every two hours between 12pm and 4pm. Since we didn't want to wait 1.5 hours for the next tour, we decided to have tastings, which costs $7.50 per person and consisted of a shot of five liqueurs - Crystal, Gingeroo, Amber, Cajun, Gris Gris.Their Award Winning Crystal Rum is made from molasses that was fermented and distilled twice. It goes well in rail and mixed cocktails. Their Gingeroo Cocktail is made of their Crystal Rum, spicy orange ginger, and pure Louisiana sugar cane. It was light, bubbly, and refreshing. Their Amber Rum is aged in bourbon and whiskey barrels for 3-7 years. It goes great in classic cocktails such as Rum and Coke, Old Fashion, Mint Julep, Bramble, and Hurricane.Their Cajun Spice Rum is made with Crystal rum and a blend of baking spices including Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Cloves, Ginger, Vanilla, Chicory, and Cayenne. It goes great in holiday cocktails such as spiked apple cider or hot toddy.Their Gris Gris Cayenne Liqueur is made from Crystal Rum, cayenne pepper, and organic ginger. I enjoyed the first three as they were lighter in flavor and body and did not have a spicy kick to it.
