Oktoberfest Nola

I ran in the Oktoberfest 6k this year, so I decided to go to the festival after. I found it was very crowded. Seemed like all the stands were just too close together. They did have a lot of different beers to choose from and many different food items. We didn't stay long enough to hear a band play. Overall, not really my kind of thing, but it did seem like people were enjoying themselves!

This is one of my favorite festivals in NOLA. Maybe its my German heritage plus the fact that my birthday is in October. I love that they throw this big party for me every year! It's not easy to find German food in South LA, but this place can scratch that itch. They have German cheeses, beer, schnapps, wine and food! So much German food (pretzels, brats, knockwurst, sauerkraut..and the list goes on). You can pay to park in the lot, or park down the street for free and walk a bit. Don't forget yo bring a chair, seating is pretty limited inside. Plop your chair down, grab some food and a drink, listen to the Om-pa music and do the chicken dance every hour. Already looking forward to next year!

At its nw location on Moss street across from City Park, the festival grounds is wonderful and the organizers did a great job.We attended last night with friends and had a fabulous time. The beer was great, the food was all amazing and i feel the prices were all reasonable.We enjoyed the music, the dancing and just chilling in the food tent and visiting with friends.A great event that celebrates Oktoberfest and the German culinary..Enjoy!

This is a great festival! They do have ATM's here, but the fee is exorbitant, so bring cash with you. None of the vendors seem to accept credit cards.There are several beer booths, wine booths and a wide variety of food options. There is an admission fee. The live music and the skits were great. The chicken walking around was just too funny. Granted, I am writing this review in May, but I can not wait for this festival to come back this October. It is really a great small festival. The beer booths have a couple dozen different beers on tap. The wine booths have several wines available by the glass or by the bottle. There is a spot to get a full plate meal, or booths to get various small plates.Seating does go as quick as the parking. So, wear comfortable shoes, bring your own chairs, bring cash, be prepared to walk. There are booths with German themed items for sale. It is very small, about one city block. Things are a bit on the expensive side, so please be aware that you are paying for the environment. There are port-a-johns for restrooms, so be prepared for that.

What a great festival! Sure it's small, but the food and beer selection is great and it's right in the heart of River Town in Kenner. Very festive with folks in German dress and German music playing for most of the day, including an awesome Polka band that was playing NIRVANA. Amazing. I would DEFINITELY go back and try more of the food - the entrees change every weekend so you can try something new every time. AND they had a ton of great German beers from Spaten and more. HIT IT UP!

I love Oktoberfest and I also need to disclose that I'm also a member of the Deutsches Haus. For the last weekend of September and the following three weekends in October the Deutsches Haus puts on a fantastic event full of German beer, booze, food, music, and fun! I very much miss the Oktoberfest celebrations at the old Haus which was destroyed as part of the eminent domain takeover of property for the building of the new LSU Hospital. The great news is the new Haus is at a much better location on Bayou St. John and the new Haus is finally finished (on the outside at least so for this year you still can't go inside as they are still finishing up). Throw on your lederhosen and dirndl and come ready for action. Prost!!!

Awesome Oktoberfest !!! All kinds of beer on tap and a few authentic foods running around. They have a main stage with all kinds of performers through out the day. They literally shut down this small town and party in the streets. We had a great time. Next year we will know to bring some chairs , the seating they provide goes quick. They have a neat little novelty shop with German items to purchase including steins and clothing, as well as hats and other items. And the answer to the question everyone wants to know.... yes, there are tons of pottys LOL. we are definitely looking forward to going yearly.

What's not to love about Oktoberfest? Let's see:Great German beers? Check.Plates of German food big enough for two people? CheckLively music? CheckChicken Dance? CheckDachshund races? CheckOktoberfest is the annual celebration of German culture and heritage as well as a fundraiser for Deutches Haus. For a small fee ($6) you gain access to a fun festival. Dress in lederhosen on certain weekends and you get free admission! The food here is fantastic. Tons of great grilled German sausages along with cabbage rolls, red cabbage, German potato salad, and (my favorite) beef goulash with spatzel. Wash it down with some hefeweisen and you're looking at a fantastic meal.This year's highlight for me was the day of several heats of dachshund races. Starting with the puppies and going on in older age groups, five or so adorable dachshunds at a time race across a small fenced in area to the cheers of the crowds and delicious treats waiting them at the finish line. It's all in good fun and the dogs have a blast with all the love and attention from the crowd.Oktoberfest runs pretty much every weekend in October, so don't miss it.

This is my second year attending Oktoberfest in Rivertown. I'm excited to hear that they'll be opening a new location in Mid City next year. The beer selection is great and the food is fun. Last year, the bf and I had the dinner plate special. This year we opted for pretzel dogs and flammkuchen, which is in ignorant layman's terms... German pizza. The band performances were good fun and they had stein holding contests roughly every hour. This was a really cute family friendly event and perfect for meeting up with friends. I definitely recommend checking it out, and if you're on the fence, Groupon usually sells discount ticket packs a few days in advance. Dirndls and lederhosen highly encouraged of course.

This made for such an enjoyable day!!! I drank my weight in generously discounted beer and then ate a bratwurst and a turkey leg. I meant to save room for the pretzel but it came down to either the pretzel....or another beer....the beer won. It didn't hurt that the weather was very nice which made you want to hang out and walk around a bit in between pint selections. I think the 23oz glass for $9 with the purchase of an additional beer for $7 with each refill was the most cost effective deal for me so that's what I went for. I think I tallied up drinking at least 69oz of beer that day (I'm a short girl...don't judge). But I loved all 69oz of it :-DI'll definitely be returning next year and bringing my dog next time!
