Stopped in today to grab a watermelon for myGF's Ma Maw. After picking one out , the others looked rotted. Dropped it off at her house in Norco. 20 mins later , she calls to say the watermelon was sour. I've heard a lot of bad things about how they sell items that are expired or old and then they make food out of the expired items to resell. I won't be back here.

Great spot for a quick lunch to go. Although they don't use Liedenheimer's bread for the po-boys (personally, I like soft bread sometimes), and the fries are limp (not crispy; but they are seasoned nicely), and the shrimp is popcorn shrimp (also seasoned nicely, but on the gulf coast why would you not use fresh shrimp?), the po-boys are dressed with the perfect combination of mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. The catfish is good except when you get a muddy piece (it's not hard to trim away that silvery flesh), and the hot roast beef is very good. When they have jambalaya, it appears to have the leftover meats from a few previous hot lunch offerings. It's seasoned well, and isn't bad, just a little odd. Other hot lunch offerings look good, and a lot of people order that - but I am always sucked in by a good po-boy. The Blaine Box is deceptively filling. Catfish, shrimp, and fries all stuffed into a small box. The box looks small, but it is filling (the fries are still in need of crispiness). Service is generally good - think long-service employees in a small town family-owned business. There are some "ordering standards" and they might seem a bit perturbed if you don't get it, but they aren't rude and nasty (unless you try to order while you are on the phone - don't do that. It's rude.). The food is pretty good, and the portions are enough to satisfy hungry, hard-working refinery hands.

I attended a wedding shower today and after having some cake I had to ask where the cake was made...it was Norco Fresh Market - as the bride to be - Kaitee works at Norco Fresh Market. The cake was half white & half chocolate & it was out of this world. One of the best cakes I have had in a long time. I know I will have to drive to Norco to purchase birthday cakes in the future.

Fabulous store! Has a great deli and bakery. Good meat section and has very good employees in the store. Fabulous sales! Has way bigger sales than Matherns in LaPlace. If you need help in the meat department you have Roger who is very helpful. They get King Cakes from good bakeries at different times than just Mardi Gras. Really nice store.

I must go here at least once a week since I'm too lazy to make my lunch at 5am before leaving on that looooong drive to work. It's small to medium in size with a decent enough selection of produce, meats, etc. What I like is that they have hot lunches everyday during the week, so I can always get me some fried chicken! They have quite a few sides and other hot meals besides chicken that they rotate throughout the week. They also make small and large salads with some great chunk deli meat, fried shrimp, or tuna. They also have a bunch of different kinds of sandwiches.Everyone is pretty friendly, especially the butcher. He'll introduce himself when he knows he hasn't seen you before, making sure you know not to hesitate if you need anything special. It's just a nice, unpretentious town grocery.
