Total neighborhood gem! Every person here is so helpful and knowledgeable. I found a great Sauvignon blanc and cab franc at amazing price points. They also regularly do tastings which is fun and informative. There are wines at every price point, and they have never steered me wrong. This is a very unassuming place, next to Pinkberry- it's hard to tell what's behind the door, but I highly encourage you to pop in and scoop up some fabulous wines from people who truly know their stuff! #ThankYouThursday

A wonderful place. Knowledgeable and attentive staff. I've been buying wine here since it opened and I have yet to get a mediocre recommendation. I love big, bold reds and this place satisfies my needs and then some.

If you're driving down Magazine Street near the Riverbed end, you'll likely miss seeing this little gem of a wine store, so keep an eye out!Product: Wines of all stripes, mostly mid-to-high end. The selection is good, not great, but the proprietor is willing to hunt more esoteric vintages down. I've been able to find some more esoteric rose`s (not all blush wine is crap white zinfandel in a box) for gifts in particular. This is *not* the place for "Two Buck Chuck" stuff, though. (4 stars)Service: Pretty much, it is the sole proprietor, from what I can gather. He is a little quirky, but friendly, and he's well-educated on his wines. He'll take his time with you to find the wine you seek. Service is speedy, with nary a wait. Of course, this isn't a high-volume sort of place, so I really couldn't comment on if there's ever a wait due to being busy. (4 stars)Facilities: The storefront is in the middle of a small strip mall across from Whole Foods on Magazine Street, bookended by Pinkberry and Chico's. There is a private parking lot, but it's really difficult to get in and out of, in my opinion, mostly because patrons of this strip mall park like jerks. There is signage on the strip mall sign, and on the front of the building, but the first green backing, though lovely, doesn't stand out at all, so you're likely to miss it. I certainly did, and for years (no lie!) didn't even know this place existed! The inside is close and cozy, but very inviting. I like the toned-down atmosphere. It's a nice change from the "in your face" of most modern storefronts. The interior is impeccably clean. (4 stars)Bonus: They have regular wine tastings. You can be put on their email list to be informed when they'll next have one. I cannot recall if they are complimentary or charged, though.Overall: The wine stores in New Orleans are typically far above par, and this place in no exception. Of course, they have to be on top their game, or they'll lose out to the competition. It's good to be a wine aficionado in New Orleans these days. You should check this place out the next time you're looking for something more than just table wine. (4 stars)

Loved the selection and that I was asked if I needed help and then left alone. The tag line is accurate in that there were unusual bottles here, that I haven't seen elsewhere. It is a small store but well stocked. My only problem is with the parking lot. I feel like the pinkberry people want me to run them over and that if I left my car here while I picked up the one thing I needed from another store, I would get towed.

Hopper's Carte Des Vins has a well curated selection of wines, and focuses especially on wines from Burgundy, France. I spent a fair amount of time browsing the shelves here and settled on a few picks that were quite decent. I saw some things I hadn't been aware of before which is nice for a total wino like myself. If you're looking for a great selection, this is a great place to go.. especially if you appreciate deep reds. They had some Valdobbiadienne and Cote du Jura wines which were nice to see. My only qualm is that a number of the bottles I saw on the shelf were significantly pricier than the same bottles I've scoped out in NYC. Then again, when it comes to what a wine lover loves, selection is the everything.

Cartes Des Vins is a small marvel. Ready to dip your toes in the wide river of French wines? This is your place. If there's a serious oenophile in your life, they'll enjoy the selection and more importantly, the vast knowledge of the owner, Rick. Imitate, unassuming and friendly is the vibe whenever you shop here. There's weekly tastings and a room that can be reserved for small parties.

This is for the Magazine location.Don't let the schmancy exterior fool you they have a vast selection of wines here at all price ranges. With over 30 years of experience between the guys that own this place they can steer you in the right direction for a wine selection for any event. You will get first class customer service here but not overly pushy or them steering you to high end stuff. They have a lovely tasting room which we have used with friends and offer public tastings often.

I had read about Cartes Des Vins in the newspaper a while back about a special testing they were having. I couldn't make it that day, so I 'liked" them on Facebook to keep track of their tastings. Today, I was in the area and decided to stop in. They were having a tasting of 3 French wines and a sparkling white wine from Spain. I ended up buying a Cotes du Rhone I would have passed on the shelf if I hadn't tasted it first.I was impressed with their wide selection of French wines. I was surprised at how modest the prices were. I guess that's the advantage of visiting the source. When I'm in the area, it is worth stopping back in.

Was staying at an AirBnB nearby with my family. We stopped in here 3 times over the course of the week and found everybody helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great selection at very fair prices.
