Char-Grilled Oysters (6)
The lemon herb grilled fish was phenomenal. The sweet potato mash was decadent.

We had reservations at another restaurant but the electricity was out in that neighborhood and we found Neyow's. I had seen it on an Instagram post and it looked good. We went when it opened so it wasn't busy. The restaurant has a big bar and nice vibe. Our waiter Courtney was A+ and made the experience even better. I started off with their Expresso Martini which was really good but a bit sweeter than I like and had ice in it.We had the Crawfish balls as an appetizer and they were delicious. We had the Sunday special of Sweet Glazed grilled Salmon with the sweet potato fries and sautéed potatoes as sides. I'd have to say this was the best grilled salmon I've had! Both of the sides were amazing. For dessert we had the fantastic Beignet sticks. I had to force myself to stop eating them!! I also had the Bow Wow Fruit Punch which is definitely a get again as a takeout drink! The drink prices were really reasonable. And I'd definitely try their Happy Hour! The one thing that I would change is that they should offer the garlic bread free of charge is you order an entree. It was only $1.50 but I feel it should have came with the entrees. All and all, I highly recommend you checking this restaurant out!

A local friend of mine brought me here when I said I wanted some good creole food. When we first walked in, I could tell that this was a local spot, and it was really popular. We sat outside on the patio in front because the weather was just perfect. Because it's Mardi Gras we ended up joining a table with some random people and making friends. The service outside was good, Courtney took good care of us and make sure that we got everything we needed extremely quickly knowing how many troubles he had. For food, we got a catfish Poboy, some Charba oysters, and crab claws. They were all delicious and a highlyrecommend them. Some people we had met out on the patio ended up being there later, so we ended up going back at around 10 PM and getting a late bite to eat as well. We also had the Bow Wow, which is a drink with an amazing amount of rum in it, and that was really tasty.

My cousin and took a day trip to NOLA. She had been wanting to try this place since seeing it on IG. We were able to find parking just a few steps away as the streets were crowded. We entered the restaurant and got to the hostess counter where we were never greeted at all. So we took matters into our own hands and sat at the bar. The bartender recommended the carrot soufflé and the dressing, but I was trying to get the M&C and green beans and he was like Nahhh get the carrot soufflé and the dressing!!! We ordered a half dozen char grilled oysters . The oysters were OUTSTANDING!!! We should have ordered more. I also ordered the gumbo which had a good flavor but was watery. The carrot soufflé and dressing came out with our catfish plate. The carrot soufflé and the dressing were TOP TIER!!! I initially had my doubts about the carrot soufflé but I could have ate a bowl of it paired with the dressing that had bits of crab in it!!

Gumbo 5/5House salad 3/5Fried fish 3/5Fried shrimp 4/5Fried oyster 4/5Steak 1/5Brownie and ice cream 5/5Banana pudding 5/5This was one of the first meals we tried after arriving at New Orleans and we were super excited to taste the local cuisine. The long line of locals was a good signs and the two person sampler menu offered a great way for visitors to try a little bit of everything. For the sake of brevity, I'll just touch on the highlights and the disappointments. The biggest highlight is the gumbo, which is honestly the best gumbo I had all trip in New Orleans -- its flavorful but not overly salty and its filled with different pieces of seafood. Both of the dessert options are also very delicious and we stuff ourselves with both the brownie and banana pudding despite us already being very full. The only disappointment we had was the steak. It was bland and the beat into a flat sheet, so the mouth taste felt almost rubbery. Honestly, I feel like I would have given this restaurant a higher rating if I never had the steak, but I can see how it really added to how much food is offered in the menu. I would still recommend place to all visitors but next time I would lean on the side of sticking with the seafood instead.

Located in Mid-City this is truly a great NOLA local experience. Located in a newer building it's got only a wee bit of charm yet lots of local character. The menu leans toward seafood yet it's broad enough for most tastes. We were seated right away for lunch. The noise level was high, but conversation was still possible. There's a large room and a couple of adjunct areas, plus a bar.The walls are decorated with lots of photos and memorabilia.I ordered an iced tea, a cup of Gumbo and the Shrimp Creole. Service was friendly and efficient, everything came in perfect time and we weren't rushed at all.The gumbo was very flavorful, spicy and chocked full of sausage, shrimp and the usual stuff, including rice. The shrimp were large and plump. It was greasy, which is to be expected. Sometimes a bit of grease is good! The Shrimp Creole was quite good and a large portion. It was as one would expect, including packed with flavor. I added Lousiana Hot Sauce to ramp up the heat.My dining partner had the fried chicken with sweet potato fries and potato salad. The portion was huge and I got a drum stick. It was crisp and the chicken tender and perfectly cooked. This place has a good energy to it, not fancy and not pretentious... just good ol' New Orleans cooking.Grab the napkins! You'll need them.

4.5/5This place was recommended to us many times by locals so we definitely had to try it out. All the food made my stomach so full! We ordered so much food but here is a rating of everythingGumbo(2/5) - too salty and not enough rice Garlic bread (3.5/5) - I wasn't a big fan of the sprinkled parm on French bread. It didn't taste cohesive. Chargrilled oysters (5/5)- first time having grilled oysters and the butter always makes things yummy. I still prefer raw oysters. Fried chicken (4/5) - tasted very light and crispy but chicken was dry Mac and cheese (1/5)- tasted like kraft Hushpuppies (5/5) - the best hushpuppies ever!! I had never liked them before because they tasted dry, but these ones are filled with moist corn mush!! Potato salad(3/5) - I don't like it in general but my friend who is a potato salad fanatic loved it. Ribs(2/5) - not a fan of the sweet sauce. Fell off the bone easy but meat was drySweet potato fries (5/5) - super light and crispy yet substantial!!

I finally made it back to Neyow's after a few years and it definitely made some progress from my last visit. There's usually always a wait so highly recommend joining the waitlist through Yelp or getting outside seating which is first come first serve. This time I tried the redfish combo which came with fried redfish and shrimp. They were good and seasoned well. The fries weren't anything impressive and neither was the Mac n cheese. I also had the chargrilled oysters and they were really good. Nola will always be one of favorite cities to eat and I'm glad this visit was much better than my last.

Wanted to try here because it is very popular! The food was good and I tried the stuffed shrimp with green beans and cornbread dressing as my side. The food was decent and fresh. My fav was the stuffed shrimp! The Caesar salad was also very good! My friend tried the charbroiled Oysters and said they were cool too. The service was the best tho!! We had a very nice gentleman and amicable sever. He made my bday very special! It's cute inside but not too huge! It wasn't too crowded either did not have reservations and got in quick for a Saturday! I will say try it to see the hype! The service is good and good vibe. -Marshay D.

Like the decor and ambiance. Lots of seating. Cool artwork. Service was decent. Had to call server over for a refill a few times, but it was a larger party so understandable. Ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. One of the worst meals I've ever had. Complete false advertising. This is more like a fried crabcake with a single tiny shrimp in the middle. The tail was still on all the shrimps. Very small shrimp in the middle, and a single shrimp at that. The crab mixture was mushy, it had okay flavor. Every single restaurant I've seen crab stuffed shrimp, it's been butterflied shrimp with a crab mixture stuffed in. Not what resembles a deep fried Twinkie. Very disappointing. Mac and cheese was odd- spaghetti noodles with a Mac and cheese mixture. It was alight. Parsley potatoes were the best part. Probably wouldn't come here again when I'm in the area next. Definitely would not get the stuffed shrimp again.
