This space is an historic home (built 1865) that is now used for special events. Since I was once involved with the opera guild, I used to attend meetings here. It is a beautiful home...that is not really handicapped accessible. Normally this home is closed except for events, like when my college bestie got married here over 20 years ago. The house is only more beautiful now, having gone through a complete renovation post-K. It looks like you no longer need to be related to someone to rent the house for special events, however be prepared to use their preferred caterer or service provider. The house is full of antiques and they want to make sure that whoever comes in respects and honors the house. Supposedly home tours are given on Mondays, by the volunteer docents, but I would definitely call before just showing up. It might also still be on a commercial Garden District tour, but again, I would say that it isn't certain.

This place is very surprisingly big . there's an up stairs but The Big Hair Wig Ball was done primarily downstairs. Very cozy too. It definitely can be a beautiful spot for an upscale house party or intimate charity event. The bathrooms were in good condition. Everyone was out for a good cause this night. No complaints about the house. Certain people at the event here made me uncomfortable. But overall the place was nice and homely!

I recently attended a fundraiser here and this is such a gorgeous place!Houses like this are what make New Orleans so unique. The entire house is decorated like any mansion should be decorated that was built in 1865- gorgeous antique furniture and art is everywhere and the wide open space makes it perfect for hosting a party. The house and all of it's furnishings and art was actually donated to the Opera Guild in 1965. The event I attended here was lovely. The Opera Guild staff did a good job of keeping everyone fed and entertained. I like that the house has a lot of space, so if there is a big crowd there is good flow and no one feels bunched up.They are actually giving tours of the home every Monday until May 16th, 2016 so you don't have to wait for a fancy event to see the house for yourself.

Had a blast at the Big Wig Ball. Love seeing everyone's costume and mingling with everyone. So much fun.

We attended a NOWFE vintner wine dinner here. Ralph Brennan Catering teamed up with Stag's Leap Wine Cellars to host a 5 course food and wine pairing at this lovely old house. The dinner itself will be another review. This is for the New Orleans Women's Opera Guild House. The building is a classical Greek Revival mansion in the Garden District and is what you would expect for an uptown mansion. We were limited to the downstairs area of the house for the dinner, although the upstairs can be included for events. There was a nice circular flow to the rooms so there wasn't any real bottlenecks to movement. As you entered the house, the left side was the set up with the welcoming wine station. As you moved to the back of the house, there was plenty of seating in that area as well as the back room. Continuing the flow to the right side of the house was the dining area, big enough to hold 5 circular table capable of seating 8 people comfortably. The antiques and art were everywhere. The front entrance is not handicap accessible. Definitely a venue to impress your guests.
